You're right it's not. I'm not sure how long MV3 was on before it was canceled but this show, Video One was basically the same show without all the dancing kids. It was even hosted by the same dude, Richard Blade.
They were only shown on the local L.A. TV. Richard Blade was a D.J. on KROQ around that time. Check out KROQ2 on the Radio.com app to hear what that station was playing back in the 80's!
Oh man! This takes me back! I used to watch Video One on KHJ channel 9 as an 11-year-old back in 84' 5 PM weekdays after elementary school. Good times the 80's were.
Yep. There was a commercial for Leo's Stereo that had a country singer and a Boy George Impersonator. As they enter the store, the country singer opens the door and says "ladies first." Boy George replied."Very funny." That was the funniest commercial ever.
The nostalgia!! The video I remember from this show is Haircut 100 “Love Plus One”, but so many cool videos: Adam Ant, Culture Club etc. I would be playing outside after school and then come home to watch this show! The 80’s were the best !!
I remember arriving from Wildrose Elementary School (Monrovia CA) in 1986 by 3:00 pm just to watch Video One. He introduced me to groups like Duran Duran and Haircut 100. Good memories! Well deserved star in Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Yeah right after school channel 9 here in L.A. The video I remember the most Jump by Van Halen. Roth swinging from the ceiling. That was a long time ago.
When I used to live in SoCal(moved out of the State in 2001),I remember watching "Video One" in 1983 when I was a young kid. This was acouple of years before "Request Video" and for me,Mtv.
OMG! I Loved Video One back in the day. Prior to Video One I used to watch local L.A. shows like MV3 and Goodnight L.A. so when I saw the very first episode of Video One back in January of '84 I was instantly hooked. Even though Richard played a refreshing variety of videos what I really loved was the fact that he played of lot of the bands that were being played on KROQ which was the L.A. station that played all alternative music. Thanks to Video One I saw and heard incredible bands like The Smiths, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees, etc for the very first time. The doors of my mind blew wide open and I developed great taste in music thanks to this show. As I recall Richard would even play local L.A. bands who weren't known outside of the area which was really cool. I have very fond memories of my adolescence thanks to Richard Blade. Thanks for the great memories Richard! You will always be awesome and occupy a warm spot in my heart. 😊
Me tooooo! MV3 was the BEST! I got to meet Richard Blade years later at when he was DJing at Yankee Doodles in Woodland Hills and got to tell him how much I loved these shows and how much he taught us ALL about music I still adore to this fay. Glad to see so many other fans out there who remember.
This show sucked, they always played mostly New Wave crap and the good Heavy Metal Videos at the end with the credit's rolling over it! I remember when Ozzy's Bark at the Moon debuted, I was so excited, than finally, "And here is the new Ozzy Osbourne Video Bark at the Moon, we'll see you tomorrow", credits start rolling, stay tuned next for "What's Happening" and than "Maude", than the video faded out and didn't even finish! I was so pissed! I don't think I ever watched the show again!
this is crazy... before the internet, richard blade was it. remembered watching richard until i join the us navy in 1987. those were the days, just sub'd #160.
For year i wanted to know if this show only aired for us in L.A. or was it national? Whenever i ask people from orher states they tell me thwy never heard of Richard Blades or Video One.
Hey Richard! I seem to recall a "Video 22," which was on Ch 22 in Los Angeles in the early 80s. I feel like you were part of that, or at least someone from KROQ was part of the production, as it showcased the ROQ type of music of the time. Do you recall?
If you didn't have MTV then the only way you could watch videos was video one during the week Friday night videos on NBC and on Saturday morning you had Casey kasem's countdown.
I used to record this show on our family's VHS VCR & watch the shows over & over...I was obsessed!
Since we didn't have cable or mtv back in the day I would rush home to watch this program on channel 9 in Los Angeles every Monday through Friday!
Mike Valbuena did anyone have cable? I don't want to reveal my location but we didn't have cable eitherthis show was a great escape after school
Mike Valbuena heywait a minute this isn't MV3 is it?this is a different show I meant MV3

I miss that program. I would always watch it after school during my junior high school days.

Every day after school! Loved it! They brought me Men At Work, Culture Club, and a Rock Report on my beloved Limahl.
Hell yes! I love Limahl, too.

I loved Goodnight LA; I wish I could find footage of it somewhere. If I recall correctly, it aired after the show "Fridays".
After MV3 went off the air, this is the show I would rush home from school to watch!
Me tooooo!

I'm reading Blades book. The world in my eyes.
It's amazing. Even if you are not familiar with him. This book is inspiring for anyone.
Richard Blade was how I got my videos early on in the 80's. My family did not have cable till at least 1986, so this was my MTV.
this is crazy... before the internet, richard blade was it. remembered watching richard until i join the us navy in 1987. those were the days, just sub'd #160.
My favorite show
I'm trying to remember what time this show came on in los angeles
Well Dick, we saw you on Fremantle's "Card Sharks" in 1978. And you was on.
For year i wanted to know if this show only aired for us in L.A. or was it national? Whenever i ask people from orher states they tell me thwy never heard of Richard Blades or Video One.

Why does Richard Blade sound Australian when he's originally from Bristol?
When music made sense
Video one was for us poor people that didn't have cable but I remember video one more than I do mtv
