This is the greatest rock song ever written and performed. It is also
one of the greatest songs ever written period. Queen were way ahead of
their time
Freddie Mercury was a master of understanding harmonics and four-part overtones. His arranging of the voices in this piece (and a lot of his other compositions) was very operatic.
There is no equal to Freddie’s voice and the band’s stage presence.
Their Live performances are legendary.
Lol yes Freddie was gorgeous.
My dad always said Freddie was the type of guy that could walk into any bar and walk out with your girlfriend. Or your boyfriend. lol he loved Queen so much., (not just for our namesake lol)
I was fortunate enough to see Queen twice in concert. The last one was in Montreal in 1981. It's hard to believe that Freddie has been gone for more and a quarter of a century and amazing to see young people discovering what a treasured talent he was today! He passed on my birthday so it leaves a bittersweet feeling every year. I light a candle and play 'Who Wants To Live Forever' dedicated to him.
This was basically the very first music video. Prior to this one, groups would put out promotional videos of them lipsyncing to their record. Queen knew this song was different plus it is almost 6 minutes long which meant it had to be marketed differently. To add to the problem, they were about to go on tour so this video would have to actually do the promotion of the song since they would not be available for interviews.
The band members, especially Freddie, had a vision of how they wanted to present this song. So instead of using a videographer as all the previous videos did, they got a TV director, Bruce Gowers, to shoot their video. The opening is inspired by an iconic photo of Marlene Dietrich that Freddie loved (the soft uplighting). BTW, the band had such a clear idea of what they wanted to see in the video, the whole thing only took about 4 hours to film.
Anyway, when the video came out, it so mesmerizing that it was played over and over again. No one had ever heard a song like Bohemian Rhapsody and they had definitely never seen a music video that was so dramatic and enticing as this one. Suddenly, every artist is making music video not just to sell their song to the publisher but to promote it to their fans and MTV is born.
Brian May wrote the Bohemian Rhapsody guitar solo
Somebody to love, live in Montreal
Somebody to love live in Montreal! It will amaze you. Under Pressure live at Wembley, Bohemian Rhapsody live at the Bowl and Who wants to live forever live in Budapest. That’s just a taste. Their music crosses every genre you can name. You’ll love it
Queen: we will rock you, now I'm here, keep yourself alive
In a time bands had to be able to sing and play their instruments and write their own music..no playback or autotune..never in Freddie's life until 1991..very versatile musically in every genre. Somebody to love in Montreal 81 is a banger...Aretha Franklin was Freddie's inspiration..he adored her. Freddie had a 4 octave voice..F2 to F5.
You should watch their Live Aid performance in 1985! Their live shows were absolutely amazing!!
Yes
"Somebody to love " 1981 Montreal is a must! Rock on \M/ \M/
@@oskney3329 you are so lucky !
Yes
@@oskney3329 queen stole the show, and freddie was told by his doctor not to perform because of a throat infection.
The one person who gave a thumbs down to this video must have had a really bad day.
People give the thumbs down not for the Queen video, it's for someone pretending they have never heard it.
Thumbs down people are Justin Beiber fans
I thought about it much, and I think it's real not pretending.
There is a whole generation that just buys music and doesn't listen to radio or "oldies"
@@julieb3996 What generation is that ? I was talking to a couple in their early twenties and they knew of Abba and Queen and songs of those groups
ikr
I think you are a fan already. The third movement of this song just annihilates the competition in any genre. Laugh. So Stunning. How did they achieve such raw power and sublime melody and vocals to wrap it all up? There will never ever be another Freddie Mercury.
They have a 20 year catalog of amazing songs...every single one is different. They were a rock band, but you'll find they sing every genre. Live performances are always best. Check out White Queen at Hammersmith Odeon, Who Wants to Live Forever in Budapest, Somebody to Love in Montreal. Live Aid 1985 is a must. Love of My Life in Rio. Those are some of the best for starters.
Somebody to love live Montreal 1981, March of the Black Queen from the album Queen II. They say it's a older sister to Bo Rap. Another great song Death on Two Legs. Love Queen. They are all amazing artists.
I have been a Queen fan for over 35 years, having first saw them live at Live Aid in 1985, twice in July 1986 at London Wembley and at Freddie Mercury's ever last live performance at Knebworth UK in August 1986. Freddie died nearly 29 years ago now and he's still classed a legend by EVERYONE. Queen as a band were untouchable and how they approached music was amazing. Freddie's voice has gone down in history as he has a Four Octave voice range and can hit any note. I'm so glad you enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody but if you REALLY want to check out their talent I recommend the following. Also, Queen were the only band EVER to sound better live than in the actual studio, in an era where there were no earpieces or autotuning, just sheer talent.
Somebody to Love - LIVE at Montreal 1981 - A MUST DO
Save Me - LIVE at Montreal 1981
Dragon Attach - LIVE at Montreal 1981 [this has got to be the Montreal version as there are quite few other versions] - MUST DO
Another One Bites the Dust - LIVE at Wembley 1986 - A MUST DO
One Vision - LIVE at Wembley 1986
Under Pressure - LIVE at Wembley 1986 [this shows Freddie having 72,000 in the palm of his hands] - A MUST DO
Now I'm Here - LIVE at Wembley 1986
Also a must to check out is :-
Queen at Live Aid in 1985 [their 20 minute performance has gone down as the best performance in history] - MUST DO
One Vision Documentary - this films the band members having fun, making music and songwriting
YOU HAVE TO CHECK OUT ALL OF THE ABOVE PERFORMANCES TO GET AN INSIGHT OF WHAT A PHENOMENON THEY WERE !!!!
Freddie Mercury (main vocalist) sadly passed away in November 1981. He is considered (to this day) as the greatest showman of all time. However, he was a very shy private person and nothing like what you see when he's on stage. He was a beautiful human being and is sadly missed by hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousand people across the globe. RIP Freddie, my hero x
Stay safe much love from Manchester UK x
Band members were :-
Freddie Mercury - main vocalist, piano player, guitar player and songwriter
Brian May - the best electric guitar player ever, backing vocalist and song writer
Roger Taylor - drummer, Freddie's main back-up vocalist and songwriter
John Deacon - bass player and songwriter
Hope the above helps x
Jo_Jo Lambrini Freddie passed away in 1991...I’m sure that was a typo 🤗❤️
Somebody to love - live in Montreal. Amazing!
Freddie and queen ...the talent was off the charts ...best vocalist ever
Only man I’ve seen a give reaction with zero toxic masculinity. That earns you a follow.
You young folks, I love seeing your faces when you realize what greatness you have been missing. This song rocked my high school world and still does.
Mine too
Great reaction ,you should react to queen singing somebody to love live in Montreal 1981 amazing live performance from the most talented band ever ,thank you ,god luck on you queen journey ,stay safe ,from Liverpool UK x
1. Somebody To Love - 1981 Montreal 2. Live Aid -1985 - the whole thing 3. Barcelona - operatic duet with Montaerrat Caballe 4. The Show Must Go On 5. Millionaire Waltz 6. Death On Two Legs - Freddie’s diss track to their manager who was ripping them off - official lyric track 7. Keep diving down the rabbit hole. You will not be sorry. ❤️
I love watching Reactions to Queen. This is one of a few that respects the music.
Bohemian Rhapsody isn’t a song, it’s an experience!
Like the others here, I'm subscribing because you're doing Queen. Just give them a chance and they're bound to get you under their spell just as they have millions of the rest of us. Can't wait to see your reactions to the other songs you choose to play.
Another great artist taken too soon. So many great songs and so many mega hits. Enjoy the ride!! I see many suggestions in the comments, just follow the trail and you will see the influence even in today's music. Great reaction!!!
Freddie Mercury lead vocalist piano, Brian May guitar, John Deacon bass, and Roger Taylor drums. Try In the lap of the Gods live 1974 at the rainbow or White queen live at odeon hammersmith 1975
Was also in Wayne's World
The White Queen is awesome as is Ogre Battle
Another banger Dxmn. My only criticism is I hope you heard the song in stereo in your headphones (it came across in mono on youtube). You miss so much of the mix hearing it in mono. On the group, you're about to go down a very large rabbit hole with the group Queen. They have over 30 years of fame covering all genres. Although it all came to a sudden end with the death of Freddie Mercury who died of aids. Their legacy still lives on. Enjoy the ride. You're going to love it.
Dammit i had my mic recording in mono 😢 but i heard playback all stereo . Thanks for letting me know. Just fixed. But yea man this piece was incredible . Thank you for brother. Excited to go through some tonight 🤩
@@dxmntyler1220 That's great, remember that you are the star attraction hearing the music for the first time, so we want you to hear Queen in all there glory. With a group like Queen, where do you start first? If I may suggest the best way to discover Queen is a live performance that's when they're at their best. For example (Queen - Somebody To Love - 1981 Montreal) ruclips.net/video/aA2IRoPFIn0/видео.html Or try (Queen - Under pressure (Live at Wembley) ruclips.net/video/OVzvoPP6M50/видео.html or maybe (Dragon Attack - Queen Live in Montreal 1981) ruclips.net/video/_gAhvNCGK0s/видео.html These are just a few out of so many. We will be looking forward to your reactions. PEACE BRO.
i gotta agree with a previous comment that Somebody love is awesome live.
You said it “where have you been?” 😂😂😂 welcome to the world of Freddie Mercury and Queen. If you want a live performance to blow your socks off then listen to the Aretha Franklin inspired “somebody to love” but you must do the live version from 1981 in Montreal, been viewed a lot on here and always a great reaction with guaranteed views. After that you can do the rest of the classics which you will have heard as well.
We will rock you
We are the champions
Another one bites the dust
Under pressure
Don’t stop me now
The lists goes on and on....
I Want it All is the best ;)
"Death on two Legs"-----A MUST SEE.....must, must must must must
Im 77 years old have known Queen for a very long time and i cant enough
of them and oh that Freddie what a beautiful voice. Nov.23 2020
Queen were & always will be the masters of harmonies. This was made in '75. I've been a fan since the early 70s. Seen them live twice.their catalogue of records are vast. When Freddie died in 91 there was a huge void left in the world of music. Pleased to see & hear ur reaction.
Oh,to be someone coming across Queen for the first time-you won't believe the range and quality that awaits-from the greatest rock band there's been.
This is not only their signature track, but would probably top most people's polls-certainly mine-as the best ever.
Subscribed, too 🤗 Loved your reaction. Here’s a little more about the band themselves:
Freddie Mercury - College Degree in Graphic Design
Roger Taylor - Switched from Dentistry to get a College Degree in Biology
John Deacon - College Degree in Electronic Engineering (built the “Deaky Amp that gave Brian’s guitar extra oomph)
Brian May - College Degree in Physics, PHD in Astrophysics (built his own guitar with his dad out of things around his home, like a fireplace mantel, knitting needle, etc.)
All 4 wrote #1 songs, all 4 are in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Th highest note you heard in this song was Roger, who also had a 4 octave range.
For an angelic sounding song, listen to In the Lap of the Gods live from The Odeon 1974
Others have given you great suggestions....to start! LOL 😂 Welcome to Queen 🎶🔥🎶
I'm sure you have heard of We are the Champions and we will rock you!
I'll be here for all your reactions, ESPECIALLY Queen ones, ha. My favorite band of all-time. Miss Freddie so much. And Brian, Roger, and Deacy are absolute legends, too. Love them all. Great reaction. Love your energy.
My first concert in 1981, Queen!!!! Legendary writers and performers! Favorite group Ever!!
Love your reaction. This is Queen. This is just the tip of the ice burger that is Queen !!! There is so much more,to hear. Queen is the ultimate band. Love everything there is to hear by Queen. Glad you listened to this .
No idea how many thousand times I've watched this video or listened to this song. It just gets better. You have a lot of great songs to listen to. Freddie was unique, a master of his art.
YEP! YOU'RE RIGHT! ONE OF THE BEST SONGS AND BANDS OF ALL TIME! ABSOLUTE GENIUSES! ♥️
Freddie Mercury was an icon. His voice was made in heaven. He's in Rock N Roll Heaven. RIP Freddie.
This song is a masterpiece, written by the legendary Freddie Mercury.
He always left the meaning of the song to be interpreted by the
listener, but many believe it was his ‘coming out’ song. The record
company didn’t want it released as one song, they wanted to chop it up
but the band wouldn’t hear of it. It was an immediate worldwide hit.
There are at least 100 great Queen songs to discover and espessialy their Live performances till 1986 👊
"I would sleep with him off of his voice, I'm sorry."
I'm dying!!!! I feel the same way :)
Will never hear a voice like that ever again. Heartbroken.
@@elisashue5086 yeah, there will never be a voice like Freddie’s. I’m so sad that he isn’t still alive 😔
Love Queen, they were way ahead of their time, love from Australia xx Stay safe.
You have taken your first steps on what promises to be an incredible journey. On the way you'll encounter everything from rock, to love songs, gospel, blues, anthems, epics plus little side trips to 40's jazz bars and 20's vaudeville. Perhaps your next step should be to the Rainbow '74 for 'Keep Your Self Alive' (thrash metal before thrash metal existed) or to Montreal in '81 for the Aretha Franklin inspired 'Somebody to Love'. Enjoy the journey.
More Queen!!!
If you're going down the Queen rabbit hole, I'm subscribing! Great reaction! I highly suggest you watch the music video, We Will Rock You, and watch any song from their 1981 Live Montreal Concert, especially Somebody To Love! Other greats include Fat Bottomed Girls live at the Bowl, and Love Of My Life live at 1986 Wembley! Can't wait!
Queen is outstanding..., a critic said once: no matter if it’s about metal, progressive rock, pop, glam rock, hard rock, rhythm 'n blues, funk and disco, country, gospel and soul, and even music-hall and ragtime....., or any music styles... Queen could create and sing anything in a Queen’s style. They created their own style, You can listen some harmonies... and you know it’s Queen singing ... with the incomparable Freddie’s voice..!!!
Better band EVER!!!! 😍😍😍😍
If I could go back and see one concert that happened in my lifetime, it would be Live Aid in London, where Queen gave what is widely considered the best live rock performance of all time. I became addicted to this song when I got the LP at age 11.
I would say watch both studio and live of each song
This is historically described as a rock opera - that explains a little more clearly the different parts to this. It is truly a masterpiece. Thanks for this reaction!
Queen is, to me, the most incredible band ever, for many reasons:
*The originality of their songs and compositions.
* All of them are really gifted songwriters
*The Queen style and his special sound: harmonies, layers of voices, Brian’s guitar, Roger’s drums, John’s incredible bass.., and the incomparable Freddie’s voice
*The quality of their albums and recording... and their originality way to record too, like in “Seaside Rendezvous”..,, and, of course, in Bohemian Rhapsody
*The amazing live concerts... full of energy... with a flamboyant and outstanding Freddie.. and the quality of lights, smoke, sound and all the band on the stage..!!
Queen ... the best band ever!!!
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Early in his career Freddie gave his all to us in Bohemian Rhapsody; near the end of his life on earth he gave his all in "Barcelona" his collaboration with opera diva Montserrat Caballe'. In between we got the likes of "Fat Bottomed Girls, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Don't Stop Me Now, and One Vision. Freddie Mercury is an unparalleled LEGEND - Queen, also, Roger Taylor (Drummer and the highest voice on this), John Deacon, Bass guitar beside Freddie as he opens this and Brian May the guitarist and other back-up singer on this.
There's a movie recently released called "Bohemian Rhapsody" streaming on HBO that has a pretty good narrative about Freddie Mercury and the band. As for men in tights try Jethro Tull, Live such as "Locomotive Breath".
Try to much love will kill you. Beautiful song and as always Freddie's voice is on point
Far from what they are all about... Definitely do more .. This journey will astonish and delight you. Go straight to Queen Live Aid 1985 .. Then explore forward and back from there :)
OK HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO REACT TO:
SOMEBODY TO LOVE
UNDER PRESSURE
ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST
CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE
WE WILL ROCK YOU
RADIO GAGA (where Lady Gaga’s name came from)
FAT BOTTOMED GIRLS
I WANT TO BREAK FREE (the video banned from MTV)
DON’T STOP ME NOW
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS
You’re welcome. NOW GO.
Excellent suggestions
you forgot the live aid set
I would probably add Who Wants to live forever and Innuendo to that list
One of best harmonious groups ever
You can not go wrong with a Queen song A live version of Liar is excellent
Us brits may not get on from time to time....but when we hear Queen..we all come together and sing.
White Queen Live at the Odeon, 1975! AMAZING!! Have never seen anyone react to that!
If you want to jump into an amazing, wonderful rabbit hole...Queen Is the band you want! I loved your reaction. Just subscribed!
Looking forward to seeing more Queen. They set the bar in 1974 and are still waiting for a challenger .
1975 The first music video ever. It blew us all away! It was STUNNING for the time and STILL IS. I have been a Queen fan since 1970. Their outfits as you called them were the fashion of the 70's for some reason men went all feminine, really long hair and if you look you can see Fred has painted fingernails! Now you need to check out LiveAid 1985 AND Montreal 1981where he sings Somebody to Love l NEVER get tired of watching them, Fred is still living when you watch. AMAZING! Freddy did tribute songs to the people that influenced his younger life. Crazy Little Thing Called Love he wrote two years after Elvis died while in the bath it took 10 mins. When Fred sings it many people think it is an Elvis song but it's Fred's tribute by sounding like Elvis at times when he sings it. I am around the same age as the band members and still rock to Queen with my children and grandchildren! Queen also rock's in my ❤🇬🇧. Enjoy your exploration down the road to Queen! 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
"ANY WAY THE WIND BLOWS".......couldn't be any better.
if you want to know how much queen is loved here watch green day concert hyde park, all crowd singing bohemian rhapsody...gives you chills
Live aid is one of the best performances ever. The I really have to understand the meaning of this song. It's beautiful
Where have I been 😍 I love that reaction 🤩 while listening to pure genius!
Freddie mercury is the lead singer. He did most of the vocals by himself when it showed the 4 silhouettes. Brian May is the lead guitar player John Deacon is the bass player. Roger Taylor is the drummer. This basically was 3 songs put into 1 by Freddie. They all wrote music. They wore white back in the day so people could see them onstage. They all have college degrees. Very smart individuals. This video is technically the first music video. Great reaction. Go to Queen Somebody to Love live in Montreal. Freddie loved Aretha Franklin. He passed away in 1991 of aids. He is a legend. Enjoy the Queen ride
When you said you would sleep with him off of his voice .. is when I hit like.
A masterpiece of music, lyrics and video!
Queen ROCKS
Just HOW is it possible to be even "one breath" old and not know this song by heart...........this is something we should be born knowing by heart , and I am not a super queen fan either, I like queen but I LOVE this song
The entire band or a group of geniuses and academics but they were very close friends, & basically a family because they stayed together for 20 years and are still together, except for John who retired from music in 1997. John was the Dark Horse bass player of the band and he came out with some of their best hits like another one bites the dust and you're my best friend, I want to break free and more. He just didn't want anything to do with music after Freddie Mercury died because he handled the business side with queen and aside from that everything else was just apparently too heartbreaking for him to even think about.
The band members get his stay with everything from the movie and he's given his Blessing. Aside from that John totally stays away and out of the public eye. It's a shame but I respect his privacy.
Freddie Mercury has/ had the voice of a Divine messenger!! The drummer had this incredibly powerful high voice that can go down deeper immediately into transition and it's so hard to play the drums and sing at the same time but Roger could pull it off.
Brian May the lead guitar could also play the piano and ukulele had a wonderful voice but his was like warm Kahlua Coffee and it had this beautiful sound to it.
If you watch the video to who wants to live forever you will hear a lot of Brian May singing, as " I WANT IT ALL" that video was when Freddy had AIDS and blow me away freaking awesome but Brian sings some individually in that song as well as" Only You The Good Die Young".. the latter is a tearjerker because that song was released in 1997 as a tribute to Freddie Mercury by the three remaining band members of Queen.
Remember when this was first performed it was the Glam Rock period of the 70's and 80's.
Freddie was one of a kind.
Welcome to some of the best music that came out of the last 80 years.
They have sooooo many amazing songs... You should react to Don't Stop Me Now or Somebody to Love (LIVE in Montreal) next. Just read comments and react to any suggestion (by Queen) that you see and it will be FIREE (well exept song called Body Language... ignore that haha -> thats the only song by them, that I don't like). ENJOY!
Don't stop me now, It's a kind of magic, Breakthru, Love of my life, You take my breath away and Innuendo. That should keep you going for a while!
This song came out in 1975. I was a kid when it came out. Freddy didn't get the lyrics from anyone. He wrote the song way before the guy you mentioned. Queen will always be the best.
Glad to have found you man. Already enjoying the channel alot! As a self professed Queen superfan, might i k kindly recommend a song White Queen, the live at the odeon concert. It really showcases his amazing vocals, and the raw talents of the entire band. And since you wanted more info, the drummer is Roger Taylor, went to dental school, as an aside, guitarist; Dr. Brian May, who is also an astrophysicist, WOW! bassist John Deacon, also an electrical engineer btw& lead singer of course is the one and only Freddie Mercury! Who graduated from Ealing Art College. So besides being musically genuises, they are also highly educated guys, fun facts.... anyway. This is a rabbit hole you will love digging into!
I have a feeling you'll really enjoy Another one bites the dust, and Under Pressure, a song they did with the late great, David Bowie.
I don't think I have enjoyed a reactor's special effects more. Lol. It was perfect. Thank you!
Just found your Channel and I love your energy and comments.you do more than listen you feel the music. So refreshing!!!!
It’s an entire movie in itself !
Somebody To Love, Killer Queen, You're My Best Friends! The concert portion was live, he loved the mix!
"You take my breath away" Live at Hyde Park 1976..."Somebody to Love" and "Dragon Attack" Live at Montreal 1981 are excellent choices for Live Queen performances!
I would sleep with him off of his voice...lol omg I am DEAD!! It's ok lol both men and women feel exactly the same!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great reaction, thank you
Freddie
SOver a billion people watched via satellite all over the world, It was in 1985 and was a benefit for famine relief in Africa. All the bands donated their music for all of Africa and for everyone. watch Freeddie work all those people. It's amazing.
I really like your reaction. One of the best I’ve watched.
Another fantastic band and song
Pleaseeeeeee react to Queen, White Queen Live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975
Great reaction. Definitely try out somebody to love live in Montreal
You have just witnessed one of the Best Rock Bands in history, with one of the Best front man to ever live please stay on your journey with QUEEN, as they cross & mix with many genres & do have a unique sound!!! You have also just listened to one of the BEST songs in music history!!! *****Loved your reaction*****
Welcome to the Queen world, there's so much for you to explore and experience. I love to see young people find Queen and realise just how amazing their music is, this song was released in 1975 and it just blew me away, it still does. Anyway, as others will tell you their catalogue is huge and their live performances out of this world, so dive in and enjoy.
1981 Montreal.....Somebody to Love
AMAZING!!
"I would sleep with him off his voice" 😂. I like your sense of humor.
"March of the black queen" is a trip too. They never performed it live because its too complex but its a must listen
I grew up listening to this kind of music
Best reaction in a while :)
You MUST watch Queen at Live Aid 1985. It will show you the kind of front man other bands wish they had.
