    Made this cake twice, and it always came out outstanding! I used half stick of butter and half stick of trans fat free margarine, combination of them giving the cake very nice texture as well as good flavour. Thanks allrecipes.

    Thank you for your comment. If you want a very moist cake, you can certainly increase the amount of milks in this recipe. Enjoy.

    The cake is made with three types of milk, Mistica 007. The whipping cream is used for a separate cream layer.

    I absolutely LOVED this video. I am Mexican and I grew up eating Tres Leches cake. It has been my favorite for as far back as I could remember. It's almost like an unplanned tradition that Mexican's have with Tres Leches cake. We have at EVERY birthday party. I love it! The taste brings so much good memories. No one in my family or any friends that know how to make the cake have patience or have the need to teach anyone how to make it, so I've always assumed it must've been an extremely difficult recipe. Until I saw this video. Thank you! Now I'm going to go make one :D

    I want to try out tres leches cake but I'm not sure how I'll like it and I don't have a 9x13 inch pan. Could I make this somehow in a 8x8 cake pan? And by the way, I love how you just poured the milk mixture while the cake was still in the pan!

    • @allrecipes
      @allrecipes  11 лет назад

      Thank you for your question. You might have a bit more cake batter left over if you are baking in a smaller pan. Also, since you are baking a smaller cake, it might take less time in the oven. We'd recommend checking the cake after 20 minutes to see if it's done. Enjoy!

    I like use heavy cream or Nestle Media Crema instead of the whole milk and I definitely use much less sugar in the whipped cream topping 1-2 tbsp Max! Also I like to add pure Vanilla Essence or extract or for festive occasions rum or brandy in the 3 milks syrup, and strawberries for garnish or whatever fruit I have on hand instead of dusting with cocoa or cinnamon AND suga!??r,God NO more sugar please!

      Hi, mike affinito - A delicious idea! To make cupcakes using this recipe, we'd recommend using paper liners for the muffin cups. Keep the same oven temperature, but bake the cupcakes only about 15 minutes. Use a toothpick to check for doneness, and bake 5 minutes longer if the batter sticks to the toothpick. Let us know how they turn out.

      It will be fine to put on the cake and leave it overnight, Mike Kulikov --refrigerated, of course. The cake will already be a little soggy because you will have poured the milk mixture over the cake. If you want to wait and assemble it just before serving, you may do that too. Enjoy!
