Kashmiri Chai or Pink Chai is always the best part in weddings! Everyone comes over to our house after Jummah Prayers and my mom makes this. I like mine with some sugar, salt, and pistachio!
Absolutely beautiful. Could you do a video for "chhatta"? It's a warm, milky drink flavoured with a rose, cardamom and other spices that is pink in colour. It is favoured by the namdhari Sikhs because it does not contain any caffeine. Afaik namdhari Sikhs do not take any form of intoxicant.
I sure wish the video instructions followed the recipe in the details and only called for 1/2 a teaspoon of soda and 1/4 teaspoon instead of 1 teaspoon each. Not sure what to do with my 5 cups of super salty tea now.
yes, that is ONE of the Many styles of this singer, just like ...that guy BOss, Bruce springstein & many american singers sound like they are trying to go after a month od constipation
I have always loved this series but I am hating this colored filter that has been used in the last two videos. Everything looks like an instagram photo. Keep up the awesome channel, but please lose the brown filter or coloring.
AHhhhh im so happy!!! haha I am kashmiri and love Noon chai! haha you can buy Those tea leaves from a Desi store actually. mostly you will get it. "Pink Tea" ;) good job luv it!
You throw me on the floor... YOU KIDS ARE SIMPLY AMAZING...How on earth did you come up with kashmiri chai !!!! Keep up the good work your videos are nothing but peace love and comfort xx Greetings from Mtl Canada
I kept getting distracted by one thought during this video, "OMG that guy can hiccup on command!" Followed by, "LOL the ingredients text keeps time to the hiccups!"
It is called Kashmiri chai in Pakistan. Usually and mostly in many parts of the country it is served on winters only making it a speciality tea. The method and color is legit. But it is a lot thicker and richer because it is cooked quite a lot.
Being a Pakistani Kashmiri, we call it Sabz chai which literally means pink tea. The punjabi version of this tea is sweet but the original version is salty. Plus the original version does not have any spices like star anise, cardimom or cinnamon. But guessing that since you dont have the proper tea pretty much you have to make it taste similar to the original and therefore the spices.
Indian Kashmiri here .... we call it noon chai ... n we dont add the star anise et al either ... in our part of the world its the intensity of the pink that we really work hard on which takes lots of boiling stirring boiling ....
Thank you for this recipe!! I'm drinking it right now, using Assam instead of Wu Yi, and it's still delicious! Question: Why the baking soda? Is it a thickener?
1} won't the salt spoil the milk, won't it split the milk 2} Do you know other such not so very famous herbs or spices that can be added to milk tea which will enhance the overall taste of a tea??? 2} can we put salt, baking powder and other masala at last i.e when the tea is already boiling. Will it split the milk present in tea? 3} will their be a taste difference if we add himalayan salt instead of normal salt???
just a note, but this isn't chai tea, this is "noon chai" - a salty tea commonly drank in Pakistan. Chai itself is Indian, in origin. I'm a chai fan, but never had this - can't wait to try!
why dont you guys try and get your hands on some real salep. i know its hard to find because it was over consumed in the past and now is very hard to export out of turkey, but my mum says its so much better than the powder we buy nowadays.
Chinese oolong tea, really? Tastemade couldn't have found a more authentic alternative on Amazon or some place else? The tea leaves are the most important part of the taste. My grandmother makes this tea during the winter whenever I go back to Pakistan, and it always reminds me of home.
It removes astringency from the tea. I add a pinch of it when I make a gallon of iced tea and it remains clear and doesn't get bitter from the longer steep time. But it could also serve some other purpose in this recipe.
TheAnimePiper thanks! I was also curious why the baking soda was added, but I see what you mean. I made it, and I am drinking the Noon Chai right now, and I think it does have a silkier feel and taste than if you were to steep it without baking soda. I had never heard of this!
Ginevra Peterson No problem =) I've yet to make this because I don't usually have oolong on hand so I can't comment on the recipe. But I know the baking soda does wonders for iced tea since it does make it very smooth.
Actually baking soda is used in noon chai to bring about the pink colour. The soda helps the pink colour come out if you were to make this tea without the baking soda you would not see the pink colour or it would not be very pink just faint or brownish.
I am from Pakistan. Its actually not called noon chai but sabz (green) chai because lots of green nuts are in it.And it isnt actually made they way they showed
Your video editing style is too..how do I say it, zoomed in, if that makes sense? It makes the viewer feel suffocated, all I want to do is zoom out a tad and be able to see the whole cooking process instead of stylized angular shots faded into each other. Don't get me wrong I love your recipes and music but the editing is getting a little too out of hand IMHO.
LOL that song. I'm always impressed with your music selections.
This series has produced some of the best videos ever on the internet
Yay for Kishore Kumar!
Kashmiri Chai or Pink Chai is always the best part in weddings! Everyone comes over to our house after Jummah Prayers and my mom makes this. I like mine with some sugar, salt, and pistachio!

Your choice of background scores is impeccable.
Absolutely beautiful.

I have always loved this series but I am hating this colored filter that has been used in the last two videos. Everything looks like an instagram photo. Keep up the awesome channel, but please lose the brown filter or coloring.
I noticed that too. The video said something along the lines of "look at that beautiful pink colour!" but all I saw was brown.
It’s supposed to have the cinematic feel of an old Bollywood movie
AHhhhh im so happy!!! haha I am kashmiri and love Noon chai! haha

I kept getting distracted by one thought during this video, "OMG that guy can hiccup on command!" Followed by, "LOL the ingredients text keeps time to the hiccups!"
I do not understand the song but i like it! I hope it not about something bad.

Saima Khan hahaha good one...im from Pakistan and nope its not about something bad..
i wasn't joking, he's actually singing about how he got hiccups...
been waiting for this one! thanks guys! :D
I love this series! It reminds me of Disneyland because of the old time feel and the multicultural theme.
What did it say at the end on the tea? My dad, who's pakistani, couldnt read it. Is it not urdu?
The milk we add is super chilled and other names are "pink tea" or "Kashmiri chai" .... you can use 100% pure green tea too,,,, works fine.... :D
good song selection... ;)
this looks amazing.
awesome
love the music choice. excellent use of hiccups in music (y)

That song will be in stuck on repeat in my mind all day! I hope the finale is butterbeer.
I love this chai(or tea)!!!
Love Kashmiri chai! Thanks for teaching us how to make it :) love the show!

Looks delish !!
You actually made this! :D It's fabulous. Of all the random things that I love about Pakistan, Kashmiri Chai is one of them.
Please make a second season!!!!!!!!
the star strainer is so prettyyy
Do you ever drink these? Or just a taste? I don't think I could bring myself to drink this one! But I love your videos
This music is my jam

awesome!!!
Omgosh this song is really happening !!!
.beautiful.
kishor kumar ♥♥♥
Hey Tastemade! Try to do Chicheme (Sweet corn Panamanian style!!) It TASTE really good! Thumbs up so they can see please...
Can I omit the baking soda?
What's the purpose of the baking soda?
won't the salt and baking soda spoil the milk i.e. split the milk????
Thank you for this recipe!! I'm drinking it right now, using Assam instead of Wu Yi, and it's still delicious!
Question: Why the baking soda? Is it a thickener?
shortnsuite3 It just brings out the color of the tea :)
so its essentially like a slightly salty, heavily spiced cup of white tea. cool!
yes, exactly, just like a crow is just a black dog with wings & a beak
wheres the butter beer episode???
it's the season finale
the background music is so funny!
I wonder what the lyric is saying
Hey you guys should make carrot juice (the way they make it in the Caribbean).
1} won't the salt spoil the milk, won't it split the milk
2} Do you know other such not so very famous herbs or spices that can be added to milk tea which will enhance the overall taste of a tea??? 2} can we put salt, baking powder and other masala at last i.e when the tea is already boiling. Will it split the milk present in tea?
3} will their be a taste difference if we add himalayan salt instead of normal salt???
what gives it a pink color ??
what's the point of baking soda?
Should make Sujunggwa, the Korean cinnamon drink.
haha the hiccuping man in the song needs a cup of this tea!
Yummy!
Mmm I Love Chai Tea!
just a note, but this isn't chai tea, this is "noon chai" - a salty tea commonly drank in Pakistan. Chai itself is Indian, in origin. I'm a chai fan, but never had this - can't wait to try!

This is one tasty drink
Please do a video on Rooh Afzah from Pakistan, and Lassi from India!
what does baking soda to this tea? why you need it?
it helps it turn pink
that music choked me.
i like the song
Chinese oolong tea, really? Tastemade couldn't have found a more authentic alternative on Amazon or some place else? The tea leaves are the most important part of the taste. My grandmother makes this tea during the winter whenever I go back to Pakistan, and it always reminds me of home.
I made a video about massala chai! I love tea!!!
totally dancing right now lol
only tried the tea a few times ...but yeah its good
Noon is Kashmiri term for salt thus the name noon chai (salty tea). Loon is Panjabi term and not to be mixed up with this one.
I have been using oolong tea as a substitute for pakistan . But why the color brown. Help me please 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I
why add baking soda?
the baking soda makes it have that pink color
ok ty
Watched it again just for the music
I just want to add it is likely best to break the cardamom husk/shell it has enhanced my experience with chai
why do you add baking soda?
It removes astringency from the tea. I add a pinch of it when I make a gallon of iced tea and it remains clear and doesn't get bitter from the longer steep time. But it could also serve some other purpose in this recipe.
thank ypo ;)

+mi brow i dont think u cant really find the this particular tea in abroad..they used oolong tea.but its not made with oolong
+Haider Naeem What kind of tea is it normally made with? I'd love to give it a go.
If neither the name nor the way/instructions are correct then maybe it's because it's not what you think it is
Why baking soda?
doesn't go pink otherwise
A the song is about hiccups...hichaki in hindi
