Finally some reviewers cutting thru the novablast hype, and giving a real and honest review. I recently tried the novablast 4, and thought they were completely over hyped. They felt mushy, and had a sloppy fit. Over the past year I ran a lot in the Saucony Triumph and they always felt great. (Also spent a lot of time wearing the Saucony Endorphin speed 3).
Endorphin Speed 3 is the worst Saucony shoe for me, Saucony increased "stability" so there's too much arch support and it protrudes into the foot between arch and heel which makes Speed 3 unwearable. I have Speed 1 and 2 , Pro 1 and 3 they are all good and don't have similar issues.
Got both shoes, being a heavier runner at around 95kg with only size 7.5 uk size feet (used to do bodybuilding), I would recommend the novablast 4 as I felt the Saucony was a bit mushy and unstable in the heel strike. What is generally never discussed on any running review channel is the simple physics of force distribution over a smaller area and how this affects the dynamic compression of a midsole and I would think many runners, especially newbie’s trying to lose weight, would fall into the same category as me. Something for testers to consider as very few of us are 65-75kg racing snakes! BTW, running distances from 6 - 15 kilometres for reference.
Looks like I need to start my reviews back up. I was doing reviews from the perspective of a bigger runner at about the same weight (95kg). I’ve been taking a hiatus for a bit.
Been running in the Triumph since v 18. Great shoe that also lasted a long time. The new Ride 17 basically looks like the triumph 18/19, now that it has the same midsole.
I have always used the Triumph (19 is my latest) and recently fell for the hype and tried the Novablast 3. Instantly pain on my knees, so switching back to the Triumphs. Now on the lookout for Triumph 21's but they have bumped up the price ridiculously (now selling at 190 euros I mean, what?!). Early may the 22's will be released so hopefully I can get the 21s kn discount.
I have used the triumph 20 for a whopping 2,000klm in ironman and 3hour marathon training. It is still like new. Incredibly durable materials!!! It is a very firm rebound. Just wish it had a touch more propelled feeling (maybe a nylon plate and 8mm drop)
Kind of an odd versus request, but how about the Puma Magnify Nitro 2 vs Asics Novablast 4? Similar priced shoes, and the Puma’s ride very similarly to the Triumph 20/21. Especially when comparing price, those may be a good comparison? Thoughts?
Triumph 21 looks good, but the drop is just too high for me. I'm not even sure if it makes sense for someone who already uses Speed 3 for most runs. For me i'm more inclined to go for the Novablast for easy runs.
I mean...you're using a shoe with a plate in it and responsive foam every day so of course a daily trainer will feel sluggish in comparison...I'd go w the ride 17 if you want to stick w an 8mm drop w nice cushion
A great channel and all the presenters are excellent. However, I'd love to see a less accomplished run tester join the team too. I'm guessing an 85kg, 10 minute per mile runner has a different perspective on a shoe than a 65 kg, 6 minute miler in terms of bounce, cushioning, comfort, how it rolls etc. and they would be representing a large portion of the buying public too, > cough< including me 😁.
I don't have any of the newer Novablast... But yeah the OG was great. It killed the Pegasus for me (really stopped using the 38 and buying newer pegasus)
I don't think the Novablast 4 is pillowy and plush at all. Its a lot firmer than the NB3 and close to the triumph 21, if not firmer to me. Maybe because i'm a heavier runner. I find the NB4 to be very firm in the forefoot.
If I would choosing between zoom and pwerrun pb foam I would take powerrun from Saucony. Even though I don't have Invincible but I have Vomero. And the foam there is way too soft. It compresses to the point when I feel the ground in a hard way. I don't like such kind of softness especially during 10km+ runs. And I also really like my Triumph 20.
im looking for a daily trainer that can still due some tempo work during long runs as ill be training for my first marathon. would either of these be a good bet?
stiff as a brick. Unrunable! I NEVER had anything remotely like this in ANY shoe in the planet. And I'M niot kidding. If I with my 90kg and EU 45,5 size cannot bend the midsole of the EU 46 shoe, then i don't know.
Why do we need a "daily trainer" with a heel stack in the 40s? Come on guys...what happened to trainers in the 31s,32mm in the heels...i hate this trend lol
The problem is Saucony changed their design and made arch support more pronounced for Ride, Triumph and Speed 3, which makes these shoes unwearable for some people, unfortunately I am one of them. I still can run in Speed 2, Pros and Elite, but I intend to ditch Saucony and turn to other brands in the future.
@@daves6620 the speed 2 gave me the worst heel blisters I have ever have. The same was true with Triumph 20. This is enough to push me away from the brand.
I believe the Asics Novablast 4 is actually the better shoe. It is good at everything that the saucony does, it is better because its softer on the foot, knee, legs which prevents injury and it is good at everything the saucony does. In Terms of Pricing I think the saucony is overpriced for what it does, and for that money i believe you should Just buy the Magic Speed 3 still less Money but you get a Carbon plate and more responsiveness and still cushioned. This Video ist Just making you pay more money, for little more and more risk of injury. To everyone watching this Video, I recommend everyone try this shoes for yourself and not rely in this small channel.
Yes, and I tried both and prefer the Triumph. NB4 isn't a bad shoe, triumph just works better for my body, and this is coming from someone who loved the NB3.
Man these guys never pick the Asics over any other shoe. Not sure what the problem is but they are definitely Asics haters. I say this as a primarily New Balance, Hoka and Puma user.

*novablast 3. Haven't tried the nb 4.

How do you like the triumph compared to the speed?
So after all that advice you didn't even try on NB4?! Lmao! Oh the internet.
I can't wait until next big sale when Triumph 21 goes on sale. The Triumph 20 has been my number 1 favorite non plated daily trainer.
Triumph 21 had almost the same stats as my Vaporflies on the same long run route. Amazing efficiency at steady and marathon pace.

Sounds good, be interested to hear your thoughts on this, especially with the trend of max cushion shoes 👍
No contest, Triumph 21 all day. Better upper, fit, ride and midsole
I feel the exact opposite. 😂 sometimes our personal perceptions can differ greatly.
170 against 135 😂 not even in the same class for comparison
@collins735 but durability goes to the triumph 21 for sure...just something to think about
For you, we all have different feet.
But it's heavier and faster runs will feel the weight...lol
The Triumph just lasts forever I have found. Both the 20 & 21 have been wonderful for me.
Triumph 20 best value on the market right now. $80 in the US
I got a pair of 20’s on markdown from Running Warehouse, love them so far.
Been running in the Triumph since v 18. Great shoe that also lasted a long time. The new Ride 17 basically looks like the triumph 18/19, now that it has the same midsole.
Can't find the 20s anywhere in uk
@@danwright7779 I bought mine a few months ago. Not sure if you can still get them here or not.
I have both! My long long run shoe rotation.

Love the triumph 20, have yet to upgrade ! Tried novablast but a lumpy bit in the metatarsal area really bugged me
I had the same irritation...I think it's the pod or something underneath that part of the shoe

Saucony 2 shoe rotation for marathon training, pro 3 & speed or triumph ?
I don't have any of the newer Novablast... But yeah the OG was great. It killed the Pegasus for me (really stopped using the 38 and buying newer pegasus)
Triumph is amazing for all purposes.
I only have Novablast 3 and Triumph 20. Triumph 20 any day. It is not even close.
As a big guy what do you think would work better?

i prefer novablast 3 for easy run, and choose triumph 21 for speed workout
How many km should I expect Triumph 21 to last?
Triumph 20 bottomed out for me. Take out the insole and it was dead.
Please review the shoes of Asics GT 2000 12
stiff as a brick. Unrunable!

Most stabile of the 2 ?…. A 100 km whitch?
Triumph 21 is the more versatile ... My daily trainer
fun fact: the NOVABLAST 4 has a 9mm drop not an 8mm as advertised

Triumph is a cushioned shoe? 😮
All Saucony shoes give me heel blisters and it bums me out.

anyone here use both in their rotation? I love the triumph 21 but i feel like the 10mm drop is making my calves weaker lol
