You don’t just listen to this, you experience it, you absorb it with your soul. It’s a work of art, a masterpiece….
Disturbed's version just rips right into your soul and awakens all sorts of emotions.
Every generation complains about the next generation being lazy or lackadaisical. This version of a great song and a great message is a prime example of a later generation not only understanding the message, but amplifying and taking that message to a higher level! At a time I was losing hope, David Draiman lifted my spirit and the fact is, far younger than him, are kids who are as serious as he is. My point is, look past the background noise... there is great hope for this world.
Every time
David is a very intelligent man and very well spoken. I absolutely love this version of this song. He brought full circle from the original.
One of my favorite takes on this song is that Simon and Garfunkel used it to give aa warning to society. Disturbed's version is the rage that the warning was not heeded.
Let's not overlook the fact that this is a Jewish man being welcomed to Germany with an open heart and respectful state of mind!
I love this version of the song as well as the live version sung on Conan, thanks to Simon and Garfunkel for writing it in 1963
This version is my favorite. It affected me like it did you. I’ve listened to it over 100 times and still get goosebumps.
Great interview. Couldn't agree more with David. As for the Cover, I think this is the best cover of this song. So passionate and makes me cry every time.
His voice is amazing. Hold on to Memories is the one that always tears me up every time
It’s so strange how this song can you make you cry, happy and upset all at the same time! The original is great but personally this one is way better and hits harder. I remember a comment I saw ages ago that the original of this song was our warning, and the disturbs version is that we did not listen. Hits hard
Great emotional reaction. I guess Disturbed is the only hard core metal band that can make anybody drops their tears.
Disturbed also absolutely nailed their cover of Sting's If I Ever Lose My Faith In You ... well worth a listen
Finally, an authentic reaction! Loved it!!!
❤️
Paul Simon finally got his message across... it just took several decades and someone born after the original was written to deliver it. I'm 52 years old and and could recite the lyrics to this song when David was still a toddler. I will always love and respect the original and Art Garfunkel's gorgeous rendition of it but David properly shoved the message in our faces with power and passion! To me David received the highest complement when Paul Simon linked Disturbed's live cover from Conan O'Brien's show on his social media, as a 'must watch'. You've earned a like and a sub for this!
I'm going to have to find the link to the show!
@@PandoraPlaysMusic just a "disturbed sound of silence live" search on RUclips should pop it up as the first option. It's had over 134M views and I've heard it's the most watched Conan segment on RUclips. Definitely worth the time to check out. 👍
There is an interview with David where he describes meeting Paul Simon at a party and having Paul walk up to him and tell him how much he appreciated and loved this cover
This song by Disturbed had me crying. It was the path my son Michael had to take on that deadly night he was killed. I reached out to Disturbed to dedicate this song who was killed by a Drunk Driver. Every word of the Sound of Silence describes that deadly night. He was at a concert that night on Montage Mountain when he was placed on path not by his choice. Disturbed & their management without question said of course they would dedicate the song to my son. On the venue he was killed on. I wanted to hear his name said on that dangerous venue with that song. It's on RUclips under Disturbed Dedication on Montage Mountain. I cried as well as his 3 little girls at the time he was killed were 8, 5 and the baby just turned a year. Disturbed has to be one of the kindest bands to do this for our son Michael. God bless them all. 💙🙏💙🙏💙
The original version is a warning about the lack of communication, connection between people, this version is the anger created by the fact that 50 years later, we still haven't understood!
I loved watching your reaction! It was like watching someone fall in love. S&G's rendition of this song made you think but David's made you feel!!
Simply the greatest cover of all time.
That song hits my soul more than any other song, love it.
Hey Pandora, I actually had the same reaction to it as you did! My dad only ever listens to country music, but when he heard this for the first time, it quickly became his favourite song... that's how powerful it is! Great reaction as always! Hope you had an awesome Christmas and I hope you have a happy, safe and successful New Year. Love from ya Aussie mate!
Happy New year to you too, Mark ❣️
Now hear Them live on Conan.... react to DISTURBED'S PRAYER, STRICKEN and especially THE LIGHT
I concur with #rebelbabe, the live rendition on Conan Show is 2 to 3 times a better than the official video. It will knock you to the moon and back. Lol. You will love it.
Your reaction to the first verse told me the tears would come. Such a wonderfully honest, natural, visceral reaction. Bravo!
Great reaction. Now you must do a reaction to their live version of it that they did on the Conan O'Brien Show. Without a doubt the best live cover I've ever heard. Many even like it better than the recorded studio version, including myself.
Well here is one for you... Je suis malada by Lara Fabian. I know it's in french but you will still feel the emotion even though you might not understand the words. You can find a version with the English lyrics underneath but I can promise you, if you don't cry to this performance you are dead inside. The girl literally spills her guts and pain out for everyone to see. She will reel you in slowly and destroy your soul by the end. UNBELIEVABLE performance.
You really have to listen to the live version on The Conan Show. Trust me.....
Awesome reaction! I love seeing people discovering this masterpiece for the first time!
You must listen to the live version from the Conan show.
I was in the hospital when a nurse pointed that song out to me to listen to it. It brought me back to life I swear.
Every time I hear I’m saying it I cry, so beautiful and so moving
I keep watching other peoples reactions. You was very good and I really liked the interview. Thank you for sharing.
I hope you're feeling better now. It's definitely a song that stays with you, doesn't it. 💖
Awesome version of this classic song. Even Paul Simon loved it.
Since you enjoyed it so much, you will probably want to check out the live performance on the Conan O'Brien show. It's even better than this MV. (IMO)
i cried like a baby the first time I heard this powerful song & cried again along with you watching you experience it...this leaves S&G for dead
I have a visceral reaction to this song every time. Now you have seen this, watch the Conan live version. Cut back, beautiful.
Oh Yeah! Utterly Epic! And like you it puts tears in my eyes too! Has the power that the song and its words deserve!
Your reaction was just like the song fantastic you could tell your love for the music
Thats exactly how it got me too, I hope your ok. Way way the best version of this song. Its how the song should be sung.
Please do the Conan Live performance. Really showcases David's incredible voice. Epic!!
David Draiman...amazing range and control...a powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do . He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before.....just hauntingly beautiful ! ...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. Loved your reaction Pandora.
Makes me laugh that so many don’t get the sound of silence at the beginning of this video 😂
Now try “Her embrace” Jeremy Jordan from a potential new musical. Totally different but he is so good. His cover of “it’s all coming back to me” is fun too.
He just rocks your soul! Your reaction is priceless. ❤
Best cover ever done!
Thank you for feeling this so much....
Excellent reaction. I felt you.
While it is hard to believe, their live performance on Conan is even better.
Nice reaction and good analysis. Any music lover would cry at the first listen to the song. Even the second time! Even at the tenth... :)
I loved your reaction! Honest emotions! I love this version better than the original. I almost didn't listen to it because my kids listened to Disturbed and I associated it with a lot of screaming. I am so glad I did !
Great interview. I hadn’t seen it before. Love the casual name dropping. Oh Bruce Dickinson and I were chatting and we included Ann Wilson on the thread.
Dark ominous just a few of the feelings that song provokes Disturbed did the song Justice. If you haven't heard Pentatonix version you should check it out. Happy New Year. Peace ✌️
Beautiful Version
I really like good reaction videos. Yours if definitely a good one. I liked that you added a interview. What I like even more, you didn’t pause the video 100 times to talk. Us the viewers got to see your honest reaction to the song. I subscribed and look forward to more. Skid Row has a brand new album you should check out the ballad October song.
Should hear their "Don't loss your faith in me"
Dave Draiman 😊just gets it…❤
You cry, honey!!! Loved it.
Great reaction.
If u haven't already, u may wanna react to The Light also by Disturbed. If u do make sure it is the music video version.
Hello, thank you for the sincere reaction to the greatest cover there is. May I recommend Monsters from James Blunt? The official video.
Your reaction was spot-on with mine and many others i should think! You appear to have a good soul that it can feel what David was projecting. You should absolutely check out the song Hurt by Nine Inch Nails. Then you should go live and watch Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt. I'd be surprised if those same tears did not show up again! But you can't cheat and check out Johnny's beforehand. Ya have to watch it live! Cheers!!
The beginning of the video always catches people off, pretty much everyone checks if the volume is low or muted. Until they realise that it's just the sound of silence. 😄
Believe it or not, they do it live on the Conan show and it is better than the studio version
I subscribed to your channel because I'm a 66 year old Grandma and you had the same reaction as I did.
The perfect reaction, try to breathe and try not to cry....."nuff' said!
I do believe that Disturbed now owns this song.
Welcome to the club 😁! The most amazing cover ever!
Great song and great cover of the song. Just a little heads up, when the song is playing your mic seems to pick up every noise you make and it actually drowns out the song a bit. Just in case you didn't hear. Have a great day.
Omg love your reaction
For a similar experience watch Dan Vasc performing Amazing Grace
Still baffles me how someone can even ask if a band or an artist regrets a song, just because its a ballad/more soft then theyr other songs. Its a myth that metal bands only has to punch theyr drums until theyr hands are sore, and play theyr guitars until theyr skin peels off theyr hands. Its music, some people treat it like some holy written rulebook (that does not exist) I get it,some times you will most likely get stuck on coming up with clever questions, but that was very odd to ask. Luckily for the interviewer,David knows how to answer well.
Yeah, it's easy too easy to get pigeonholed. David was brilliant in that interview!
Some artists do regret some of their most popular songs. Not the fame they gained but the fact that that becomes what everyone knows them for and only wants to hear that song. Billy Joel with We Didn’t Start The Fire comes to mind like that.
The version is absolutely awesome! Even if it's hard to get through with so many subscriptions, it would be great if you could react to the band XANDRIA - GHOSTS and WONDERS STILL AWAITING! is about in the new direction like Delain with the new singer! By the way, from Delain-Beneath is great too!
Talk about Synchronicity, I was just looking at Xandria!
@@PandoraPlaysMusic Well what a coincidence xD
And did you listen to both songs I suggested or just one of them? What is your conclusion?
Yes…
😘
If you are so moved by the video #pandoraplays then I suggest you now must watch the live version on Conan and be totally blown away.
Like it ??? Look up Metallica's "Enter Sandman" live in Moscow in 1991. 1.6 million people at a free concert. I've NEVER seen anything like that in my life !!!
I'm going to have to look that up! Thank you!

Heart (tribute; playing for the band live) - Stairway To Heaven = ruclips.net/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/видео.html
Wow, talk about bringing two of my favourites.. Heart (LOVE Alone..) and Stairway to Heaven.. Will have to watch that! Thank so much!
You survived this cover. Now react to Johnny cash's cover of Hurt. Bring tissues.
It's a sermon the way in which humans can relate.
Hello Pandora
Hi Aran:)
I think there was Tarzan's Secret Treasure with Johnny Weismuller
I'll have to look it up:)
Johnny was the best Tarzan. 👌 peace ✌️
