Fear not! Alec in the show is about 23-25 years old. Magnus is over 300 years old as he is an immortal warlock (half-demon, half-human). While their age gap is large due to Magnus being a warlock, Alec is an adult when they meet and start a relationship.
We ignore the age gap, Warlocks live for hundreds of years and Magnus happens to be very old. Also Alec's mom wasn't homophobic, she was more racist to Downworlders(not like thats any better)-Vampires, Werewolves, and Warlocks like Magnus. But she came around with how he was always there for Alec and stood by his side and loved him.
We don’t talk about the age gap. I swear these massive age gaps in books and shows are always super problematic but for some reason these two are still a wholesome couple.
