  • Alexander Toradze playing the precipitato finale of Prokofiev's Piano Sonata no. 7, op. 83, live as an encore. I thought this would complement the already uploaded videos of Toradze teaching the sonata.

When I was attending U of Miami Fla in '77 I had the opportunity to attend a recital of his on campus. He performed this sonata and at the end the auditorium exploded. It was amazing. He looks like he could pound nails in with those hands.

This is a stupendous performance. He has subtleties in it that no one else has even thought of. small crescendos and stuff. Unbelievable!

I like the steadiness of the tempo with the appropriate accents. This really helps complement the "troop marching" affekt of the first movement.

To me this is real Prokofiev. I adore Toradze's performance but I love Martha's interpretation. Argerich touched me personally. But still I adore Toradze's vision.

Great, now we know you can play every note, let's add some pedal

Why add pedal? All the nuances would be lost.

This isn't Chopin, the dryness fits the music.
