- Tiamat is the primordial goddess of saltwater and chaos. Alongside her consort Apsu, the god of freshwater, she represents the original, undifferentiated waters that existed before creation. Together, they give birth to the first generation of gods.
As these younger gods grow noisy and rebellious, Apsu plans to kill them to restore peace. Tiamat initially opposes this but later grows enraged when the younger gods kill Apsu to protect themselves. Seeking vengeance, she creates a monstrous army of dragons and serpentine creatures, with her new consort Kingu as their leader. She bestows Kingu with the Tablet of Destinies, granting him supreme power.
The younger gods, fearing her wrath, turn to Marduk, the storm god. Marduk agrees to fight Tiamat on the condition that he becomes the king of the gods if victorious. The epic battle ensues: Marduk traps Tiamat with a net and defeats her by unleashing the winds and striking her with his weapon. He splits her body in two, using one half to create the heavens and the other to form the earth.
From her sacrifice, the world is shaped. Marduk uses Kingu's blood to create humanity, destined to serve the gods. Tiamat’s story symbolizes the transformation of chaos into order and the birth of the cosmos. Видеоклипы
