    For those on a budget, this little camera is getting better each time we play with it. The new external Akaso USB-C mic works like a charm! Would like to see a little more low end out of it, but that can be modified in post if you want to. For the small price tag, this is a great option. Now hopefully their next camera will be wider! GoPro vs Akaso Brave 6 Plus video coming soon.

      Totally agree. The camera does go a little bit wider. I realized today that i had 'Lens Correction" enabled, which crops in a bit. Have a video coming out tomorrow night that will use the camera with the 'Lens Correction' turned off. Giving you a better visual of the cameras width.

    I cannot believe how quiet the wind noise is in your video using the external mic? You mentioned that it might be using both the built-in mic and the external mic to two different channels. I’ve never had a video as quiet as this one you have right now. Where do you have the external mic mounted in this video, does it have a windsock on it?

    Have you recoloured this AKASO footage? It looks good. Mine looks very purple/magenta - I've had two - both looked the same. Sound is great for such a cheap camera. I've no idea why DJI can't sort something out for their OSMO3 and 4. It is kind of a deal breaker that they have no easy sound options.

    Thanks for a nice review of the external microphone, I actually bought the camera and mic based on it. I received it and went for a test and I'm pretty happy with the sound. I also use the camera for motovlogging but always have a problem with knowing if the camera is recording or not. On a many hour trip I don't want to record the whole time but only a few clips. Since there is no external indicator visible once I'm wearing the helmet how can I know if I turned the video recording on? So I'd like to have a remote control with an indication telling if I'm recording or not but I have not been able to find anything for this camera. Do you have any tips on how to solve tis?

    Very good review and I really enjoyed video and motorbike journey was great plus nice scenery. It's an improvement on radio and video was stable which is really good. Would you recommend camera? I have the Akaso 7000 which I do like. Will it be alot better over the Akaso 7000? I know the 7000 one didn't have good audio. What would the Mic be like in windy conditions? I'm also looking at gopro 7 which is very nice! So many choices now!

    • @gregtoope
      @gregtoope  4 года назад +1

      Glad you enjoyed it! The GoPro 7 Hero Black with Mic is still fairly pricy as you have to buy the mic adapter which is over $75 plus mic. The Akaso mic is only $10 and doesn't require an adapter. I do still think the GoPro is definitely a better camera but the akaso is definitely making great strides and is a great budget alternative!

    A couple of questions Greg.
    The battery in this camers, is it like the V50Pro or the 7000 style?
    V50 Pro question. Can I use external power with it?
    If so, which port, micro usb or the micro hdmi?

    • @gregtoope
      @gregtoope  4 года назад +1

      Ill see if i can check on that for you tonight

    • @gregtoope
      @gregtoope  4 года назад +1

      So I think the battery is different from both. So another new battery and charger. The Brave 6 Plus runs great from a battery plugged into the USBC port (but you would love the external mic - unless maybe a usbc splitter would work). The V50 Pro seems to be able to run from the mini USB port, but again you would lose access to the external mic if that was important.

    • @codraven57
      @codraven57 4 года назад +1

      @@gregtoope Ok the USBC port is for the mic and external power. The mini HDMI port is strictly for sending video to a screen or tv only.

    How to set up without wind noise?

      Use their external mic. Then you have to figure out where to place it. Trial and error.

      Almost all action cams and traditional cameras use wired mics. If you want to mount a wireless receiver to your camera you can. But that’s something completely different.

      My wife uses this camera for a functional training class outside and It's hard to hear her so we need something she can walk around with.

      @@campdavidsonfunctionaltrai8583 this isn’t gonna work for that. Easiest thing is to either record to an external audio recorder and sync in post. Or you will need to buy a different camera so that you can then get a wireless mic setup that can plug into it.

      I see this camera has wifi so maybe i can do something there. Seems like this should be easy. I'll reach out to Akaso and see what they say. Ill upgrade the camera if I need to. The have some really cool stuff.

      I had to order mine from Amazon.com and shipped to Canada. Depending on where you live that may not be an option. You may need to reach out to Akaso and see what they have to say.
