THIS ALIEN BAND WAS the shortlived NWOBHM Original Newcastle group of the same name ALIEN, NOT TO BE C onfused with other NWOBHM Alien of the 1980s from Leicester. Compilation appearances: - "Absolute Zero" on 60 Minute Plus (Neat, 1982) - "Could Have Done Better" on One Take No Dubs (Neat, 1982) - "Absolute Zero" on All Hell Let Loose (Neat, 1983) - "Could Have Done Better" on Essential NWOBHM: The Best of Neat Records (Golden Core Records, 2019)
I think it was because it was an era of experimenting, taking the rock of the 70s, the punk of the late 70s, beefing it up, thrashing it around, ripping out the complexity a lot of the 70s bands had introduced and making a newer rawer sound. I have a feeling it felt to us teenagers of the time just as fresh as Sabbath and Zep had sounded 10 years earlier. It was real cult music for pubs and clubs not arenas, an we (the audience) we're part of it, right there in the mix.
The Vicar (RIP) is tearing it up on the guitar solo in "Who Needs The Army".... Haven't heard these tracks for years... my cassette tape died a long time ago. Thanks for posting this!!
this band where amazing, ginger Ron 'the vicar' sadly no longer with us was a brilliant guitarist & writer. bass player was jimmy giro, singer deck story, best gig they played was lowfell picture Hall Yeah a picture Hall, raven banging there heads with the rest of us, great memories,
such an amazing band should have made it back and could have easily made now! thats my dad on the drums one very proud son here! also my godfather singing. only knew the guitarist known as the vicar when i was young. dont remember the bass player but i was very young when they were in this band

I still don't understand, about the NWOBHM, how a lot of bands were so good, because today we almost don't have such great bands.

Man, I wished you guys recorded more. The sound of the music is so good!
Thanks for the lovely comments! There is very little else in the way of material sadly. I'll try to get one more track on soon.
Good song. I dig it.
How come Neat never gave this band a record deal?
Life changing...
Muito boa banda, assim como tantas da NWOBHM. Infelizmente o comercialismo acaba se metendo e acabando com a criatividade de muitas delas.
