Great job on the video! I own all 3 Defiance ETFs and based on my own experience, I find ex-div date to be the best time to buy or add to the position.
If you bought that share the day before the ex dividend date it cost $18.45 and then you get your .93 dividend basically of your own money back which means you really paid $17.52 for that share while you pay 17.60 for that share on the ex dividend date. So either way is doable.
Great video, I've been interested in investing ever since I came across articles of people making up to $150,000 and more in this period, thanks for the video but is it really possible for a retail investor to achieve this in months?
I've purchased numerous stocks in individual firms. Because there are so many stocks that will skyrocket in the long run, it is currently safe to buy in on ETF and ride it out. Due to fud, I sold out early, but then retraced my ways and re-invested $350,000 with a financial advisor who manages my account. I received an 82% return last year and will see where it goes this year.
Finding financial advisors like Natalie Noel Burns who can assist you shape your portfolio would be a very creative option. There will be difficult times ahead, and prudent personal money management will be essential to navigating them.
Thanks for sharing, I just looked her up on the web and I would say she really has an impressive background in investing. I will write her an e-mail shortly.
You should compare the difference of buying on ex-date vs any time sooner and getting the dividend. For sure your average cost will be higher on the latter but is it worth it as you loose the dividends you could get? Such comparison would be highly appreciated.
Thei underlying holdings are in bonds and cash. Looking at the bind volatility back in September and October, it makes sense that they struggled a bit. Since then bond prices have increased nicely and appear to by sideways to climbing. I would expect the underlying value to get better over the next year or two as interest rates stabilize and eventually come down. This is also a good time to get into TLT and TLTW.
it did that with me on CONY. I didnèt understand until you showed this. Sees all these ETF do the same thing price drops on dividend dates. Good for short sellers market
i buy paper assets on ex-div date. ( 30 day later gratifications. ) less worry about NAV decay , + this includes other funds as well. i roll 50% of Distributions, and Divs. into Index Funds, and REITS. the other 50% in , and out of high yielding things. hope this makes any kind of sense.
I reinvest on the ex-div date. I don’t have a lot of faith in the fund, but I like the large dividend. That’s why it is among the smallest positions in my portfolio.
Yeah they were down on that first month, but if you compared it against QQQ, that one was down 4.9%. QQQY was actually ahead by 2.54%. Also, again, if you compared them for October, QQQY was down 0.76%, but QQQ was down 2.47%. So same as September, they did make some money from the options, even tho it went down, because holding the underlying from the options.
Forgot to mention, for the Month of November, QQQY was up only 4.77%, while QQQ was up 6.99%. So the upside was capped, just like how selling covered calls does.
It is now Friday March 8th 2024 and today the QQQY is at $16.34. It came down from 20.14 on your video after 5 months plus $3.80. Not sure what the total payout was in that time so it may be up on dividends but down on NAV. Anyone know the total dividends from that date. I am looking at QQQI. I have been buying SPYI.
Its a very bullish strategy they are using, in the event of a long bear market I fear these etfs may burn some investors. The reason last month they did so well because nasdaq basically went up every day. Even if the nasdaq goes up and down every other day this etf may lose money. Im just reinvesting my dividends and see what happens over time.
This would make sense if it was a closed-end fund, but the NAV also tracks the underlying (intrinsic) value, so you can’t just look at the ETF price movement as “best price to buy”. Ex-date still the best time to buy for overall best (lowest) price.
@@RetireonDividends But the market price does not float on the instantaneous nav does it? Is it price action, market buying and selling of the ticker that sets the market price during the trade hours?
It can if there are big buys or big sells. Big buys means more money to sell puts. Big sells means they no longer have the collateral to hold the active puts(I haven’t seen this be an issue yet)
So buying at roughly 17.70 on Monday would be a better move than waiting for the ex date for it to drop to, again, 17.70 ... getting both the dividend AND the ideal buying price...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I just bought QQQY at the ex date in the 17.65 range...I could have bought it 3 weeks ago at the same price AND received the dividends...
Great job on the video! I own all 3 Defiance ETFs and based on my own experience, I find ex-div date to be the best time to buy or add to the position.
Please do yield max (TSLY). Thanks for all your videos. !!

that's quite impressive, you surely made a good bit of money. I myself invested in warren's BRK-A stock quite pricey but totally worth it.
I just started a few months back, I'm going for long term, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, who’s this advisor you work with ?

I usually buy 60 % o ex div day and save 40 % of my dividends for down days. I'm hoping this will work out!

Thank you for another informative video. Please, do this for YieldMax funds (TLSY, CONY) as well.
I buy anything when the stock price is at/lower than average purchase price.
Isnt the value on the market determined by the market, not necessarily by the performance?
For sure buy on ex-date but don’t sleep on flat out buying on weakness in the underlying. And don’t sleep on selling a bit on strength

I have been buying SPYI.
I only buy on EX- Dates or 1% drops or more .. I tend to fair pretty well on my defiance ETFs. I keep about $3k on side lines to jump on good deals …
Great video thanks so much please make similar video for yieldmax, my guess is ex div date will also be the best time to buy...
Yes please make video when to buy YieldMax ETFs 🙏🙏🙏
Agreed
Will you provide the information on IWMY, just as you do with QQQY and JEPY?
Great video. Please make another video for yieldmax ETFs. Thanks

I buy when I have money. Easy.

What sets the market value of these funds? Is it price action of the ticker???
Outstanding shares, cash, treasuries, movement on the sold put.

Do you info to do this kind of spreadsheet for yieldmax

class is in session!
Way overthinking it. Just do dollar cost average buy everyday or once each week.
That’s why your not a content creator sir, if we thought pracitcal all time viewing be pretty boring
@@fullauto1125😂Agreed!😊
