I made this jam today and followed instructions exactly. It came out great! It did make 5 1/2 half pint jars as said. This was my first time to make jam and I am so happy with the results.
I just want to say thank you for this video. Today I made my first blueberry jam. I followed your instructions and they where on the money. We where amazed on how acurrate you are, it taste sow awesome. With this it inspired me to do more canning. Thank you so much and I'll be looking forwards to other instructional videos that you make.
I like your tip about making only small batches. I made strawberry and blueberry today and they haven't set. But I realized they are double what you got. Let's see they are still cooling down now. I will follow your ratio of 4 cups fruit/ 3 cups sugar, not as sweet as the book/box recipes. Your a great instructor!
Just made some of this today! It turned out perfectly. I was a little lazy and didn't measure the squished berries. I just threw in 6 cups of blueberries into the pan (after washing of course) and squished them. It turned out to be like 5 & 3/4 jars of jam 👍🏻. I tasted it and it tastes great! Thanks for the recipe and video!
THANK YOU FOR THE RECIPE, I'M MAKING BLUEBERRY JAM TO DAY AND I KNOW IT'S GOING TO BE GOOD, I GROW BLUE BERRIES IN THE BACK YARD AND WE ARE SO BLESSED TO BE ABLE TO PICK OUT OWN.
My hubby came to me this AM complaining how expensive jelly and jams are nowadays! So, I told him that I can make some. It has been 30+ years since I've canned anything. I loved your presentation. You have excellent instructions & calming voice. Oh, now I have to put an APB on my canning supplies!!!!!
I made your Peach Jam recipe today and it turned out fantastic. Step by step was easy to follow. I will be making the Blueberry jam next. Thank You, from a fan of yours!
Thank you so much for your quick and thorough response to my inquire! Just so I don't misrepresent anything, this was not my personal crop, I was just giving a guideline for the freshness of berries. ( I wish I had that kind of green thumb ) LOL Our life is quite hectic currently, but we should be able to try our hand at this in the next couple of weeks. I will absolutely report back the results! I am dreaming of fresh blueberry jam!
Your video instructions was very easy to follow. Instead of smashing the blueberries before hand I used a hand blender after cooking them. I like my blueberry preserves blended more.
This is fantastic. I only made strawberry jam once so this recipe was easy for me as a beginner. It turned out well and I love that it is step by step.
It does set without the additives, it just takes time. All you need to add is a little water and sugar, once the jars are property sealed they are preserved. I have some in my pantry from 3 years ago. If you want to properly preserve things in Mason or ball jars you don't want to tighten the rims down at all until the lids have popped and sucked down. After that is when you tighten down on the rim. Right after you add your hot jam or preserves to the jar is when you put the lid on and rim on lightly and allow them to cool on the counter until the air inside creates suction and pulls the lid down and makes a popping sound. Then tighten the rim and you're good to go. There is no need to heat them in water after filling.
For you poor people who just want to know how to make delicious jam, let me explain what is going on in this comment section. BTS is a South Korean group that produces music. They (as you can obviously see) have a worldwide fanbase. Two of the members' names are Rap Monster (stage name) and Jimin. In a video, they were speaking English (Rap Monster is the only one who speaks fluently) and he told Jimin that he had no jams. I'm still not exactly sure what he meant by that, but it was really funny and the whole fanbase thinks so. This is why we are here, in your comment section, trying to make jams for Jimin. I apologize for the confusion (:
as in jams he meant jaemi jaemi is the korean word for fun, abbriviated to je(a)m so when hoseok said 'your very no fun' rapmonster replied mixing two languages and saying 'jimin you got no jams' (jimin your not fun)
Well my wife has been into BTS for probably a year now. I'm don't really like any pop music though so I'm not up to speed on anything they do. Anyway, we moved into our new house not too terribly long ago and we have blueberry bushes in the from yard and I decided I was going to make blueberry jam. That's how I made it here. Then I find all this BTS stuff, and I guess I'm obligated to share it with my wife lol
Great clip. I like watching how other people do their canning. The only thing I would add would be to cover your jar as they cool. After years of canning I have seen all types of jar fail in the first 15 minutes of the cool down. Although a water bath is cooler than pressure cooking other goods, it's a good practice for all canning. my guess is you also do the same. I didn't understand the small batch. Of course like now when my cherry trees, and peach trees start producing large numbers are the only way to go. Thanks
My husband and I have recently discovered canning! We are enjoying the entire process and has been quite an economical pursuit. We have several pints of canned blueberries in medium simple syrup from this years crop We didn't have the time to make jam at the time. Would we be able to use these blueberries to make your Jam recipe? If so, would you be kind enough to provide a guide as to the sugar adjustment? Thank you for the video!
Louise Rymdeko Hi Louise. Thanks for watching my video! It must be amazing to have such a great crop of blueberries :) I've never tried making jam from canned fruit. If I was going to try it, I would treat it like a no-sugar jam and use the no-sugar needed pectin. The Ball pectin calculator www.freshpreserving.com/tools/pectin-calculator# is great to get the right ratios of everything. I would probably go with the low-sugar option as I think it would give a more jammy flavor. I would drain the blueberries really well...I'm sure the syrup would be lovely to use in other things, like fresh lemonade! I'd then crush them and measure the amount of blueberries and go from there. Maybe try a small amount first and see if you like the result. You can definitely can the jam as you would normally! I hope that helps and if you give it a try, I'd love to hear how it goes :)
hi. I've just started experimenting making jam. have one local tree with berries on them. when I started to make it. they had pips. do you know a easy way to remove them first please. thank you
I've never had blueberries with noticeable seeds, so I'm not sure about the best way to remove them. You could try putting them through a food mill first to see if that removes them, but I'm not sure how that will work.
Wow love your channel sweetheart I love to see different styles of cooking as I’m a chef myself and very passionate about it thanks for sharing it’s awesome and a like from us
hi liked your video i make all sorts of jams & also jellies i like to see what others add as i love specialty jams if youd like to try a pinch of nutmeg with this it gives it that little bit of love like grandma used to make !
tahiri wright I would thaw and crush the blueberries and then measure how much you have. For every 1 1/3 cups of crushes blueberries you need 1 cup sugar.
It is used to "remove oxygen; destroy enzymes; prevent the growth of undesirable bacteria, yeasts, and molds; and help form a high vacuum in jars. Good vacuums form tight seals which keep liquid in and air and microorganisms out"- from the USDA home canning guide.
American Test Kitchen says to use commercial lemon not fresh lemon in a bottle for safety reasons because fresh lemons have different levels of acidity whereas bottled lemon juice is guaranteed. Also FDA says you do not need to boil the jars before filled but use enough water to cover jars you are canning one inch. You can use natural pectin by adding one granny smith apple grated/.
Yes you can. Blueberries don't need additional pectin when making jam. You'll just need to cook the jam longer, so the flavor becomes more intense. You'll also need to keep a closer eye on it, so it doesn't burn on the bottom. I would also make a few adjustments - use a jam thermometer to make sure it's reached set point (220ºF), increase the sugar to 4 cups, and start by heating the blueberries and sugar on a medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
Cathy Zhang Hi Cathy. I use Ball pectin. Sometimes you can find it in grocery stores or other stores that sell canning products, like Walmart, if you live in the USA. Ball have their own website www.freshpreservingstore.com/all-products/pectin/2041/ or I usually buy my stuff from www.farmandfleet.com/home-basics/housewares/canning/. Hope that helps :)
Doubling and tripling changes the cooking time just because there's more jam, so that affects how it will set and taste. So, I just stick with one batch at a time. You can always experiment with batch sizes to find the right balance for you 🙂
I made this jam today and followed instructions exactly. It came out great! It did make 5 1/2 half pint jars as said. This was my first time to make jam and I am so happy with the results.
That's amazing! I want to learn how to do canning with everything
Please let me know how, to deseed the blueberry
I’ve been making jam for years now and I never use pectin or gelatine. It always sets and always turns out wonderful.
Make sure you clean the rim of the jar before putting the lid on. Use vinegar and a cloth or paper towel.
Yes, this is very important!

I love your videos! Can you use this exact same ratio with raspberries?
Love this jam!
thank you for sharing i am just starting out you did not do a setting test why ?
Is the fruit pectin necessary ? It’s just I don’t think I can buy pectin where I come from. If so, can I substitute?
Great clip. I like watching how other people do their canning. The only thing I would add would be to cover your jar as they cool. I was wondering if I could use this for Any Berries? I have made this 3 times Perfect everytime! I did Rasberry blueberry Jam So Delish! Thank You!
I'd like to use this recipe to enter into my local fair. Could I use frozen berries? Also can I add a pinch of 2 of cinnamon for extra flavor?

i came here wanting to know how to make blueberry pie. Then i noticed ... . I found Jimin some jam!
Thank you so much. I like your teaching.
How much pectin if I am using Sure Jell boxes?
Thank You, for great tips
thanks
Shouldn’t you wipe the top of the jar before putting the lid on? Or do you not have too.
If there's any spills on the top of the jar, then yes you should.
What did you do with the lemon juice did I miss something?
I added the lemon juice to the blueberries (6:20 in the video).
hi. I've just started experimenting making jam. have one local tree with berries on them. when I started to make it. they had pips. do you know a easy way to remove them first please. thank you

Thanks 👍🙂
How many days does it take before the jam expires? How to determine expiration date of the product plz...
If it's processed and sealed properly, then it'll keep for at least a year when stored in a cool, dark place.
Nice method
Jimin....you now got jams.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO anyone that is both A.R.M.Y and VIPs
How long does I keep for??
Wow love your channel sweetheart I love to see different styles of cooking as I’m a chef myself and very passionate about it thanks for sharing it’s awesome and a like from us
Great!
I liked your video -thanks :)

Please let me know, how to deseed blueberry.
hi liked your video i make all sorts of jams & also jellies i like to see what others add as i love specialty jams if youd like to try a pinch of nutmeg with this it gives it that little bit of love like grandma used to make !
Can I add a little bit of chilly pepper in
I've never tried, but I don't see why you couldn't add some.
Very helpful thank you
thank you!
I came here to make Jimin some jam.
Nice job, but how long do you boil the jam? thank you
tahiri wright Thanks! Once you've added the sugar, bring the jam to a hard boil (can't be stirred down) and boil for 1 min.
Thanks for your help :)
Today I got some freezed blueberries I wanna make jam, but I don't know how much sugar I need to add in it
tahiri wright I would thaw and crush the blueberries and then measure how much you have. For every 1 1/3 cups of crushes blueberries you need 1 cup sugar.
I'm here to make Jimin some jams
I came here to see if armys really are in every jam video or if it was just everyone overreacting
candykook nope we are everywhere
I'm getting ready to use your recipe but all I have is Sure-Jell pectin. Can you tell me how much to use of it?
I've never used Sure-Jell, so I'm not sure how much you should use - sorry. Does it say on the package?
+mrs gooses goodies I bit the bullet and used 1 box, it seems to be setting up ok. I guess I'll know for sure in a day or two
I forgot to ask, if making jam from canned berries is possible, can the jam then be canned?
Please ,What is the lemon juice for I am a beginner here ?????????
To increase the acidity level and help the jam set. It also helps with the processing part at the end.
Can you do some and see what it's like thank you
Thanks, I'm making some jams for mochi boy.
So many A.R.M.Ys here😂😂😂
Jimin I'm coming to save with my JAMS rapmon no touching! :")
What does a waterbath do
It is used to "remove oxygen; destroy enzymes; prevent the growth of
undesirable bacteria, yeasts, and molds; and help form a high vacuum in jars. Good vacuums
form tight seals which keep liquid in and air and microorganisms out"- from the USDA home canning guide.
@@Mrsgooses thank you
Are you suppose to D bubble ????
Are you by any chance Canadian?
Jimin, you got no jams XD
rat
Armies still think that's funny..
why the f yiu lying
WYD HERE
can your recipes be used in an electric pressure cooker?
+Patty Quick I've never used one, but I don't see why not.
Can I use a pasta jar
can i do frozen blueberries?
Yes, as long as there's no added sugar or syrup in your frozen berries.
You aren’t using lemon to add a certain kevel of acidity in this recipe, it is only used to help set the pectin, so using fresh juice is fine.
2 steps I do stir the air out with chop stick AND wipe rim Then close!!! :)
Can you make blueberry jam without using pectin?
Yes you can. Blueberries don't need additional pectin when making jam. You'll just need to cook the jam longer, so the flavor becomes more intense. You'll also need to keep a closer eye on it, so it doesn't burn on the bottom. I would also make a few adjustments - use a jam thermometer to make sure it's reached set point (220ºF), increase the sugar to 4 cups, and start by heating the blueberries and sugar on a medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
ya got some jams
I came here to see if the rumours about armys being here was true.. well guess what?
OMG same were you watching JRE's video about bts at Kcon NY, too? Lmaoooo
same I actually looked up "how to make jam"
+Miranda Myers yess x))
oh my god same. I just saw a post on facebook about it and came to see if it was legit XD
I was actually planning to make jams for jimin. :D
what is the purpose of lemon?
may i know the ingredients pls thank you
I think the lemon brings out the natural flavor and gives it a tartness of the fruit but that is totally optional
Very good video!
Thank you!
Somebody please make BTS watch this video. Jimin needs Jams.
where do you buy the fruit pectin?
Cathy Zhang Hi Cathy. I use Ball pectin. Sometimes you can find it in grocery stores or other stores that sell canning products, like Walmart, if you live in the USA. Ball have their own website www.freshpreservingstore.com/all-products/pectin/2041/ or I usually buy my stuff from www.farmandfleet.com/home-basics/housewares/canning/. Hope that helps :)
they dont even know who Jimin is lol XD
I don't understand why doubling or tripling rhe recipe would make it runny. Please I'm just curious as I am just getting into canning
Doubling and tripling changes the cooking time just because there's more jam, so that affects how it will set and taste. So, I just stick with one batch at a time. You can always experiment with batch sizes to find the right balance for you 🙂
is it regular sugar or powderd sugar?!
Regular sugar
I was casually looking for the ARMY comments and BAM THEYRE EVERYWHERE YOU CANT ESCAPE XD JIMINNNNNNNNN
imagine... rap monster tries to make the jam for jimin. burns not only the jam, but his hand, the pot, and the house
