I have a Kevin the Kookaburra who comes for a feed once or twice a day. He’s sat on my hand a few times too and likes his belly lightly stroked. He bought a girlfriend for a few weeks which was adorable as he’d feed her. Your kookaburras are so sweet especially Dwarfy. Thank you for sharing.

These look like the family of kookaburras that started visiting our house in January 2023 in Blackburn, Victoria. One morning my wife opened the family room curtains and there were 3 kookaburras on our deck near the door. We went out and they stayed so we gave them a little bit of mince meat. The parents (we quickly worked out it was a family) ‘chattered’ with he infant and flew off for several hours. We had become baby sitters for the morning.
They came back every few days however we started to worry they were becoming dependent so stopped feeding them. The mother was very game and would fly straight to my wife any time she went into the back yard.
The family still visits every now and again but not as frequently. We think they may have recently had another baby as there numbers has increased.
It is great that we have nature in our backyard.

I’ll have to think on a name for the other, smaller female that was the last one that jumped on your wrist. Enjoy every day with them, they’re wonderful. ❤

It would be nice to have an Europeean Mag-Pie sit on your hand, but they are very shy. One can treat them with a little snack if the distance is comfortable enough thou, like 10..20 meters. Some can come as close as 2 meters, but that is exceptional.
They are thought of being the most intelligent speices on Earth, aside humans and apes.
    Maybe smarter than Ravens even.
