I'm a beginner. I have a special 20, Marine band, and this Seydel lighting. The lighting is by far the most comfortable of the 3 that I have. I also have noticed that it's easier for me to get clean single notes with the lighting over the other harps I have. Next up is a crossover and an 1847 classic.
Excellent review, Paul. I've been eyeballing these harps for a while, haven't been able to pull the $$ trigger quite yet. I'm a little concerned that if I get one, it will make my "regular" gigging harps (GMs w/Zajac combs) seem dowdy, and then, well, I'd need to get a second mortgage.
Thanks buddy, I have a GM with a zajac comb too and it's the nuts! These are different beasts, heavier in the hands and brighter on the tone. Its like comparing a strat with a Les Paul: depends on what you like 😎
Great review thank you. I'd like to add that I would not recommend for a beginner as because of that click you were talking about. When you start harp you tend to blow heavily. I have one and I enjoy it quite a lot but when it comes to stuff that I don't master I do prefer use other things. Great harp and great player! Keep blowin'.
Thank you friend! I do state in my video that I was having to really give it some stick in order to get that clicking noise. I do think that this is a professional instrument.
Beautiful harp! I want one so bad. Maybe one day! I only have experience with one metal comb harp (Promaster). I think the metal body produces such a nice clean type sound. That Lighting has to be fantastic! It’s Seydel for starters! On my dream list at the moment. 😊
I bought this as my first Diatonic today, also in A. It feels so substantial, really comparable with my large chromatics. How's your long-term experience been?
@@PaulGillingsdepends on where you live (int’l shipping is expensive), and what your favorite harps are as some of the best customizers can only work on their endorsed brand.
@@PaulGillingsthe Lightning is absolutely one of the best OTB harps, no doubt. But, nothing else plays like a true custom harp from a reputable tech. Keep in mind, not all customs are equal, there are many techs and only a handful of professional-level ones.
Cover plates are equally sized now, so doesn't buzz at the bottom end. 2022 👍

now there is a man who can make a harp talk and the harp looks artful too which is a bonus

totally put one on the Christmas list!
Seydel is the namesake harmonica you imagine when you dream harmonica.
certainly is! Totally my faves
Paul is this Seydel as responsive as Kongsheng Solist?
It certainly is 😎
Is this the heaviest Seydel diatonic harp?
yes it is the heaviest
Very nice review
I have one in low Db
Best harp I own
So did you break its reeds?
A few years on and harp still going strong 😎 thanks for watching 🙏
nice video ace playing

They've been great, gigged them a lot since the video and they hold up great, outlasted other brands!
Sweet
What's that n. U.S.A 95 Lbs .???🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸???????
It's about $130
They’re $120+ now, not worth it IMO. For a little more, you can get a full blown custom harp.
Thanks for your opinion dude. I guess they aren't for everyone, I love them though! Any customisers you would recommend?

Great points to take into consideration, thank you for that my friend 😎🙏
