Yeah, is because conical bore. Bigger toneholes that close to the reed are so unstable. Drilling thiner ones but lower in the pipe make the notes become more stable.
I'm interested in the upper register and the very high notes. I only hear high notes from time to time , I wonder if one would be able to play a sweet little melody and how it would sound? Since I love the Oboe sound so much , a comparison would be nice
Great video and crazy indeed. Is there a normal fingering for high g# and a? Highest I know is g.

Yes there are several, also for notes even higher than that. If you're interested in the topic, you might enjoy "The Expanded Bassoon Register", it's available here: www.kristianomaronnes.com/methodes
A high G key is now a reality! ruclips.net/video/ZMIf08aQuQ0/видео.html

Bonjour MR Ronnes
Vos recherches sur le basson sont impressionnantes. Merci pour tout votre travail et pour le partage de celui ci.
Now . . Bb1 to Bb5 !! Just one half-step! Incredible progress, pushing innovation on the modern bassoon. True history, organology.
9:30 -- Noo! Into the metal . . Still, incredibly impressive. High A5!! . . Sounds like I'll stick to G5 as an aspirational limit.

Where would you put the key to open the G?

Could you try to see if you have new multiphonics and bisbigliandi with those new holes?
