Bless you for your far-sightedness in making such detailed record of what was; perhaps only now we are realising the extent of our historical national transport myopia.
Brilliant. Nice memories for an East Bowling kid who played on all that stuff. I remember the scrap train going over Hall Lane with a 31. Also, I never knew why the arches were in the supports in the viaduct, but now I do. I must find out more about the mineral railways that were round here (when you look at old maps they were everywhere). Thank you.
I remember hearing about some proposal to re-open the direct link between Bowling Jn and Laisterdyke Jn to provide a faster service from Halifax to Leeds; but it’s still not happened.
I just finished watching the rest of this and there are some great photos. I do have a slight criticsm though... the watermarks. A tiny bit excessive. You could have made those small and kept them a little further away from the centre of the screen. The fact that they jump around to different places per each photo is also a little offputting.
@@JamieCrookes actually, I cannot disagree with you! I don’t like them either, sadly I could not get the awkward one off. I did think that I would not post on YT because of that, but, some of the snaps have a rarity value I think. Thanks for watching.
@@transportinterests5371 Oh, it was still well worth posting. Didn't make me stop watching it or enjoy it. Just a tiny gripe. Not like it spoiled the nostalgia or anything. :)
Love these photos and hoping to see more in the future! 👍♥️
brings back some memories. love the picture of gills demolition yard
@@fatlad5090 used to be a big empty reservoir there, it had a big tower for a pumping house. Played there as a kid! Cheers!
Thanks for sharing ❤

@@nigelkthomas9501 I heard of 2000 ton oil trains using the reopened link, some years ago. Cheers!
How did you manage to photograph the same train at different locations that aren't quickly walkable? :o
I don’t think the train was going very fast, plus I had a mk2 cavalier which was pretty swift! Cheers
