    as you said we need to use this vocabulary when we speak, then weare gonna tend to use them automatically, hey by the way thanks a lot for such nice lesson, when i was a kid i used to ask my teacher about all of those usages but i never was answered , now my mind does better by watching your sharply content. im just so thankful..... by the way ive heard Americans say _ way too : here an example: dont yell at us when we´re way too angry ... so i mean is it right to say im too angry instead of way too angry ?

    Hello Ethan, Could you please explain me "...there are a few....(3'43")"! How could 'are' and 'a' exist at the same time?
    And at 6'24" you say: "There are a few apples in the basket." I would probably say: "There are some apples in the basket." Is this wrong, or having a slightly different meaning? Or sounds non-native? I am very much looking forward to your explanation! Thank you in advance :)

    • @RealLifeEnglish1
      @RealLifeEnglish1  2 года назад +1

      "There are a few apples," is correct because the plural verb matches the plural subject (apples). However it's common in spoken English use the contraction, even when the singular verb doesn't match the sentence.

    • @Gabilla0605
      @Gabilla0605 2 года назад

      @@RealLifeEnglish1 Oh, I see. Well, if I am not mistaken, "a few" is a kind of phrase which means "some", and "few" means "not enough". So, "a" has nothing to do with plurals/or singulars, it belongs to the "few, because it's a phrase. In this case they are inseparable. Is that right?

    You can say "persons" too, but it is formal, and people is informal

    • @RealLifeEnglish1
      @RealLifeEnglish1  2 года назад

      It depends on a context. People is used when referring to a collective group or indeterminate number, and persons serves better when referring to individuals (or a number of individuals).
