I just ordered an A6x a few days ago, credit partly to ReMarkable marketing that has been putting adverts in front of almost every RUclips video I watch. I had been on and off considering a writing tablet for some time and the adverts pushed me that last bit needed. It is one of the few times that a RUclips advert got me interested, enough so that I started to look into it in detail. Thankfully I noticed the ransom scheme before impulsively ordering, credit to ReMarkable that at least they disclose that in the description rather than sending you a ransom letter a year after buying.
I bought the remarkable 2 and thought it was the best choice for me but I am now going to get the Supernote. The marketing was really what got me. I really wanted a smaller notebook to carry around and for it it be back lit. After a year with the Remarkable 2 I am not really enjoying it as much as I thought.
I have the Mobiscribe Origin and I really love it. It's great for taking notes but not for art drawing. It is too small for reading some PDF documents, but I don't have many of those so it's not an issue for me. The company has put out several major software upgrades over the past year to add new features, which is great.
Seems there's consensus out there: the supernote is the best notebook replacement. I still went for a Boox Nova Air 2 because I needed more functionality and I needed the front light. As much as I love the supernote, it doesn't offer me the value that I seek.
Hey Chris. Thanks for this and all you videos. They have provided me perspective as I wait for my A5X (it just shipped). Everyone’s use case is a bit different but I wanted to comment on reading preferences, since you mentioned you wouldn’t use the SN for reading. I really wanted something to read and take handwritten notes right on the book, just like a paper book. Using the SN and epub books , I can on this device. Just something I’m looking forward to that I can’t do on my Kindle.
Thanks for the comment. Great point that everyone will have different uses for it. But the main thing I'd like to say is that the device is great. Exactly what I wanted.
The remarkable “support” plan kills it for me, has other issues: •only pdf & epub support •the fact it doesn’t come with a stylus 🖊 (could of came with their older pen) and the new marker 2 costs 129 dollars •overcost of their case and folio are outrageously overpriced (the new pen and “leather” folio shouldn’t cost as much as the tablet I’m having pay 8 bucks a month too e-mail myself. Would be the one I get, drawing (none of the other on the market seem too come close and only on with tilt) and writing/note taking itself seems best on it but too much negative brought on by themselves too make it justifiably purchasable.
Went for the Supernote for the same reason. The thought of never having to replace nibs was the defining feature. Also I wanted something compact to use as an e-reader. So I went for the A6 Nomad and I really love it. Not having a lit screen doesn't matter to me. I wanted a replacement for notebooks and books, and those don't have lit screens.
Hello! Thank you for the video. I'm pretty sure I'll get the super note, but I'm unsure about the size. I have to read and note academic PDFs, but I'm not sure how well they will read on the A6X. Of course I prefer the A6X price lol. Have you read PDFs on your super note? If so, what can you tell me of your experience?
I agree about the folly of ReMarkable tacking on a charge just to use their very expensive notepad that doesn't even come with its own pen. Shame on them: for the price point they don't even include it, and now you have to pay just to have access to your own work? Greedy, much?🤬 I think the RM2 pen is about $100 extra. Apple can get away with that with their Pencil, because an iPad does SO many, many multitasking things.
What's funny is remarkable's charge of $150 for the eraser. LOL Can they be that blatantly manipulative of the customers? I refuse to buy from any company that has such blatant price-gouging.
Seems the have fixed the connect plan, it is no longer required for all functionality anyone cares about and there's a reasonable plan if you do want to use their cloud storage.
I don't get why people balk at a subscription plan (reMarkable). The model of buy once and service is free forever is broken economic model. It relies on constant growth as a company. It's not sustainable and incentivizes hardware obsolescence.

The A6X might be a good choice if you're looking for something portable.

I’ve had my reMarkable for 4 years - I’m on my 3rd stylus tip (and you get 10 with the stylus - one in it and 9 spares on a card).

XD Now I imagined an alternative version of Pulpfiction where instead of a suitcase they would carry around a book.... And then open it up....
Thank you! Think I am already decided on the A6 X2 but this just confimed it!

I heard they added landscape mode on a recent update, so you can look up videos on that to get an idea.
Agreed.
The more I research these devices the supernote seems to be the best option.
Thanks for sharing. Namaste
Dude thx for keeping it real!!

Whoa, that's a lot for an eraser.
They are sold out of the A6X… I contacted them and they said they aren’t making more?
exactly what I discovered too. Perhaps there will be a change of mind.
@@mauchkimberly its because a new version is releasing A6X2

Have you seen the new HUAWEI MatePad Paper? seems quite cool and would be great to see the comparison with the Supernote A6x!
Haven't seen it. But really, I'm happy with the Supernote.
Mobiscribe wave
Great product but not backlit so cant ready it without a backlight in bed. No bueno
You hit many of my pain points on the money.
2 days ago mobiscribe announced the waterproof mobiscribe wave in color and black and white with a 7,8" display
so maybe you will buy it ;)
I just ordered the Wave. Can't wait to get it!
And kobo elipsa?? 🤔🤔
I was also considering the Kobo devices, but maybe as a replacement for my Paperwhite.
Onyx Note line-up has very decent Note-taking/drawing capabilities. It’s not an afterthought at all.
