Wait, super paper Mario was criticized for lacking extra content? There’s a whole bunch of stuff to do. It’s one of the only games I know where after you beat the game, it opens up as a whole post-game after the final boss happened, instead of resetting you back to right before the fight. There’s extra pixls, 2 pits of trials, a whole thing of chapter 6, more lore from characters just chilling in the hub world, and more.
As soon as I got to the first boss in Sticker Star, I knew how much of a chore it would be. I wasted 75% of everything I had in that fight just because I did not use the thing sticker on the correct timing. At least I could beat the first boss through brute force. It was next to impossible for the second boss. The puzzles were so obtuse that I just ended up using a guide past chapter 2. The biggest crime is that Bowser does not talk at all. It may have not been entirely Miyamoto's fault but we were robbed of an actual ttyd sequel. I would have rather taken a derivative tyyd clone than a boring, plodding action adventure game sticker star turned into.

The video was ambitious, but the overall lack of cohesion made it somewhat confusing. For example, when discussing the Beta screenshots in the beginning, why weren't these screenshots included? If they don't exist and were based only off a description, why not disclose that information? As well as that, the lack of cohesion also showed up in the mismatched visuals. As an example, when talking about Paper Mode in TTYD, you show Mario in the background when talking about paper mode, Mario getting a curse when talking about boat mode, and Mario in a dungeon while talking about being in the background. Would it not have made more sense to show mario getting a curse when talking about curses, mario in paper mode when talking about paper mode, etc? Overall, very ambitious and I hope you continue to improve as you make more videos like this one!

Look, I'm pretty sure Shigeru Miyamoto is a great guy and without him, we would not have our favorite franchises in the first place so I guess we owe him but he HAS TO STOP criticizing the Paper Mario Devs for trying to make the games feel like the first three. If the reports are correct, all of the bad things about Sticker Star and Color Splash seem to be his fault. It's so sad to see that storytelling, character design and RPG elements have to take a back seat while the Devs are forced to focus on gimmicks that might sound good on paper (pun intended) but have a poor execution and just annoy the heck out of the player (like the stickers and cards). I enjoyed the majority of Color Splash and Sticker Star also isn't "the worst game ever" but I will only get excited about a new Paper Mario game if we know for sure that Miyamoto either finally accepts that his view on the series is outdated or he has no (or way less) influence on the game's development whatsoever.

As someone who's played the games, I could understand the points you were making, but if I hadn't played the games, I would've been totally lost. For example, when discussing what made the first three games good, you were providing examples, but failed to explain why people enjoyed them. If I had not played the games, then I wouldn't have understood the difference between partners and pixls, for example, nor why so many people liked the partners better, because when explaining them, you used similar language and never compared nor contrasted them. The same goes for other criticisms and compliments of the other games. To someone who's never played them, your explanations make these games sound far more similar than they are in practice. And not using visuals that were related to what you're speaking to is a huge missed opportunity, one that might've helped bridge the gap. All in all, I liked the video (if I didn't I wouldn't have watched to the end) and I really appreciated some of the interesting fun facts in this video, I had never heard about the SPM movie, for example, but I think there are some definite improvements that could be made. :)

Fire flower, Hammer suit, Cape Feather Upgrade badges: Some badges oughta be upgradeable and have better attack power and new properties too Challenges: more in depth and difficult than put of 100 trials. And every set of challenges done rewards you something great and different Upgradeable badges: Some badges like said can be upgraded to newer better badges Examples: Quake Hammer to power quake then mega quake Fire Drive Upgraded to blaze drive then inferno drive Power bounce jump and smash to mega bounce jump and smash. And the badges would still cost the same fp and bp. But getting said upgrades would be specific and difficult to gain requirements. Speaking of... Three badges in particular to add more to your fight style Fire flower: Adds fire properties to all of Mario's attacks. Also causing burn to enemies. Some moves that were already fire based can also damage and burn armored and fire enemies. Hammer suit: Adds hammer properties to attacks. Some moves that were already hammer based can ignore targets' defense Cape feather: Adds air priority to all attacks, also ups attack of jump moves by 2. I think the next Paper Mario will be different from the last two not really because of fan demand, but because of how Color Splash was developed. I think they were already knee-deep in development when Sticker Star came out and crashed, so they couldn't do a lot to change course. I also have a few suspicions that Sticker Star was rushed and it would've been more like Color Splash if it'd had more time. But I'd need to look into it more.

My main point is to associate what your talking about through the audio and match that up with the visuals. Also on a smaller note, some of the footage did look pretty choppy, and I don’t mind you using other peoples footage, and I don’t mind the watermark they had, but just to respect the original channel, I would link them somewhere in the description. Peach, Bowser, Tippi, and Luigi are the real partners, the other pixls were never meant to replace the one from the first two. Sure you can say Peach Bowser and Luigi weren't original but the game has so many original chars anyway so yeah no complaints from me. Also SPM is my favourite game of all time, just saying
This video is really difficult to watch. I know you guys put a lot of love into it but there's so many problems with it. 1. The intro had 2 songs together. TTYD story theme would've suffice. Also it felt rushed and disjointed you should've showed more footage of the games and let the TTYD music finish properly. 2. What you guys are saying doesn't match with what's going on screen. Like when you talk about Kooper and Bombette's abilities outside of battle you show footage of Jr. Troopa battle. Not to mention there's actual screenshots of the beta versions of PM64 which you can show. 3. Going back to music and sound, Kappy needs a better mic tbh. As for the music, it dosen't loop correctly not to mention there's not enough variety. 4. Even if the video is a lot longer add more info for all the games (specially PM64 and TTYD). It's a documentary afterall. I'm not saying this to hate you guys or anything of the sort. I'm saying cause I know you guys have a much potential.
Quite honestly the writing overall is not good. It felt like they were just spouting out random facts with little cohesion, and mentioned things that weren't really important or noteworthy, like the crash glitch with Super Paper Mario. I agree that they need to go more in-depth, this time with more smooth transitions into each element of the games. Perhaps breaking the documentary into multiple videos for each game would've worked better.
What I really wanna know is who the heck was taking that survey that said the story in Super Paper Mario wasn't a strength? It's like, the only thing about the game universally thought to be good.
You got to admit that Nintendos way of thinking actually created the Paper Marios we love, Mario RPG, N64 Paper and 1000 YD. But this same forward thinking also ruined the series for us fans. I am also in the same camp that loves the first 3 installments and have played all other Paper Mario's including Origami King. I wish Nintendo would just for once listen to its fans. The same way Sony and Xbox does that is why they are the top 2 for consoles while Nintendo is a close third. Just bought a brand new never opened box of Gamecube just to play 1000YD again and paid a pretty penny for it because that game was the best and well worth it.
To me, the issue with Paper Jam is that Paper Mario is far too overpowered in a relatively hard game, meaning most bosses boil down to the 3D bros. being downed, while Paper Mario solos the fight. Also, Color Splash's Lemmy is the worst boss fight I've ever fought.

Honestly, about Paper Mario, I find TTYD overrated, with Super & Color Splash underrated with how they are treated by the fanbase. TTYD is treated as if it's the perfect game in history due to people wanting remakes of it, Super is treated as if it was a mistake because it's not the fan's beloved "TTYD 2", & Color Splash is treated like garbage though it tried to improve over Sticker Star's style since people wanted the game CANCELED the second it was announced.
I personally just like all 5 Paper Mario games. I liked Paper Mario and TTYD’s elements and gameplay, I liked Super’s chance of change of gameplay, going to a sort of Super Mario Brothers type gameplay. And I liked Sticker Star and Color Splash’s gameplay. I liked the Sticker and Card ideas, and the paint idea in Color Splash.
1 minute in and i have to just say that having 2 soundtracks at once was very not pleasant (TTYD opening theme and Flipside - it's fine tho, lemme keep watching)

This honestly confirms my stance that the same fans who criticize the games now are the same ones who caused the recent paper mario games existence. Have Nintendo do another poll again, and I bet it will be drastically different. The Paper Mario Fanbase caused their own demise by their complaining of Super Paper Mario's story. Incredibly high quality for a video with much needed attention. Funny looking at it now that TTYD is revealed to get a remake.

What I really wanna know is who the heck was taking that survey that said the story in Super Paper Mario wasn't a strength? It's like, the only thing about the game universally thought to be good.
You got to admit that Nintendos way of thinking actually created the Paper Marios we love, Mario RPG, N64 Paper and 1000 YD. But this same forward thinking also ruined the series for us fans. I am also in the same camp that loves the first 3 installments and have played all other Paper Mario's including Origami King. I wish Nintendo would just for once listen to its fans. The same way Sony and Xbox does that is why they are the top 2 for consoles while Nintendo is a close third.
Just bought a brand new never opened box of Gamecube just to play 1000YD again and paid a pretty penny for it because that game was the best and well worth it.

To me, the issue with Paper Jam is that Paper Mario is far too overpowered in a relatively hard game, meaning most bosses boil down to the 3D bros. being downed, while Paper Mario solos the fight.
Also, Color Splash's Lemmy is the worst boss fight I've ever fought.

Honestly, about Paper Mario, I find TTYD overrated, with Super & Color Splash underrated with how they are treated by the fanbase. TTYD is treated as if it's the perfect game in history due to people wanting remakes of it, Super is treated as if it was a mistake because it's not the fan's beloved "TTYD 2", & Color Splash is treated like garbage though it tried to improve over Sticker Star's style since people wanted the game CANCELED the second it was announced.
I personally just like all 5 Paper Mario games. I liked Paper Mario and TTYD’s elements and gameplay, I liked Super’s chance of change of gameplay, going to a sort of Super Mario Brothers type gameplay. And I liked Sticker Star and Color Splash’s gameplay. I liked the Sticker and Card ideas, and the paint idea in Color Splash.

Honestly I think we are fucked because if we show it appreciation, then they might continue this trend of mediocrity, but if we openly bash it then they may just ditch Paper Mario. Maybe we're at a point where there isn't the right amount of communication put into this.
Don't get me wrong I loved the originals, and I really want the original styles and Parakarry back, but I am starting to doubt that we will see that again.

This honestly confirms my stance that the same fans who criticize the games now are the same ones who caused the recent paper mario games existence. Have Nintendo do another poll again, and I bet it will be drastically different. The Paper Mario Fanbase caused their own demise by their complaining of Super Paper Mario's story. My stance is that had the percentage been higher, they probably would have had the next 3 paper Mario games be even better than TTYD and Super. (heck, imagine if those games had the gimmick of the modern games but as battle effects. for example the paint gimmick is used as a way to either buff up attacks or alters how the RPG gimmick goes.
Oh well, I bet all those Paper Mario Fans who did that Club Nintendo poll are still kicking themselves for their screw ups.
