That's what makes Armin Shimerman a great actor. He took his role as a Ferengi seriously and would actually defend them. He was playing a character, not a caricature.
Not just in this episode. In the previous episode, he figures out that the neck lock the Vorta was working was a fake and pulls Sisko aside to tell him.
He definitely applied that attitude to Galactica too - it is interesting how the defiant broke some of ghe design style that the other federation ships have; the ship is compressed, has virtually no science stuff, and the bridge is in the body of the ship (like any sensibly design warship should have)
It is really a shame that they didn't keep T'Rul around as a recurring character. In fact, I think not doing more with the Romulans was one of the biggest missed opportunities of DS9. DS9 still had some great episodes and scenes involving the Romulans but I think they could have fleshed the Romulans as much as they did with the Klingons and Cardassians, especially after the Romulans joined the war against the Dominion. How great would it have been to have some scenes with a Romulans general and a Vulcan admiral discussing strategies and being super passive aggressive towards each other?
Though they may have not had time to re/define yet another major culture. Shame, but the Ferengi, Klingons, or Dominion may have suffered from having to share screentime with another established frenemy power
The Odyssey being destroyed by the Jem'Hadar last time? Tragic but not surprising given their lack of plot armor and main character shields. I'd say that the debut of the USS Ben Sisko's MF Pimp Hand being beaten on its debut is just as big, if not bigger, to show just how big a deal the Dominion is.
I just noticed that the website lists upcoming videos for The Expanse! Extremely excited that Chuck will be doing videos on the best SF show ever made.
Is it just me or is there an audio glitch when SFDebris does the voiceover? Sounds like there is an alarm clock going of in the background with a tinny deet-deet deet-deet sound.
It's like having a CIA agent stuck on a Typhoon Class or a KGB agent stuck on an Ohio class. Without any cover for who and what they are. How do you throw that rich potential away!?
I'd think it closer to putting the operative aboard an Alpha or _Los Angeles,_ since I'm pretty sure the _Defiant_ is only carrying the literal equivalent of an ICBM, which is far less scary considering the offensive and defensive systems these polities have available.
Here's a weird question and I'm sorry for bringing this up. Is anyone else hearing a strange pitch sound in the video? I'm listening with headphones on and I keep hearing it, no idea what it is!
YES!!! Now THIS is what I’m talking about! 48 hours of MST3K is fantastic! Here’s hoping some cult classic episodes like San Francisco International or CodeName Diamond Head will get some exposure!
"It's overgunned and overpowered for a ship if its size." And how is that a problem unless you're speaking of strain exceeding structural limits? This baby was designed to fight against the most dangerous enemy that Starfleet had yet encountered. Saying it's got too much pew pew and power shows why the Federation always needs to get a black eye before it can adapt and fight back. Even when they prepare to face an existential threat that was able to wipe out a fleet with a single unsupported ship, they say the resulting design is "too scawy"
I never understood why they never made more defiant class ships during the dominion war. They could easily just implement O’Brien’s tunings to make it viable at mass scale. And the whole design philosophy of it was to be a fleet of warships, it’s not meant to be a super special resource intensive limited edition ship.
They did make more, but it’s a new ship in a war lasting 2-3 years. Not long enough to really mass produce. Maybe a few hundred in a fleet tens of thousands strong.

Shimerman took the broken husk of what TNG had made the Ferengi and breathed new life into them.
Not just in this episode. In the previous episode, he figures out that the neck lock the Vorta was working was a fake and pulls Sisko aside to tell him.
Ira Steven Behr said that the Defiant was "on a five-year mission to kick ass."

True, they could have done more with the Romulans; I think DS9 generally took opportunity by the horns, but it's not a flawless show.
Though they may have not had time to re/define yet another major culture. Shame, but the Ferengi, Klingons, or Dominion may have suffered from having to share screentime with another established frenemy power
I'm shocked you didn't do the Red Dwarf "Are you sure sir? It dose mean changing the lightbulb" joke.

Red alert! Are you sure Sir that would mean changing the bulbs....

What do you mean? He's been doing B5 for years! ;)
Is it just me or is there an audio glitch when SFDebris does the voiceover? Sounds like there is an alarm clock going of in the background with a tinny deet-deet deet-deet sound.
Not just you I can hear something there too
There's definitely something up
That's a result of the audio cleaning process.
Not just you! I can hear it as well.
@@ilexgarodanbut i mean is the audio any cleaner with that incessant beeping? Thats like doing laundry and tossing a leaking pen in with it

In the Soviet naming system the Typhoon was actualy called Akula
Russian for Shark
Hey! “We didn’t get a harumph outta that guy!”
😏🤣🤘
A Romulan on the Station would have been a great Adition
even just as a semi regular Character
Here's a weird question and I'm sorry for bringing this up. Is anyone else hearing a strange pitch sound in the video? I'm listening with headphones on and I keep hearing it, no idea what it is!
Yes, it's like a weird small high pitch happening every 2 seconds, almost like a beep noise even. Very annoying.

Is it me or is T'Rul played by the same person who played Seska?
Martha Hackett.
3:48 - 3:51 Damn, she has the same attitude as Seska.
Eddington?! That rat bastard! 😂

The strain exceeding its structural limits was exactly the problem. Before O'brien got his hands on it, the ship was at risk of tearing itself apart.
@wendyheatherwood yup - pretty much the first thing Sisko said about the ship, that it nearly ripped itself apart during trials.
@@wendyheatherwood Ah. In that case, I withdraw my statement. Structural limitations is a good reason to settle for less horsepower and firepower.
i came for the review, i stayed for the cosby reference ... rofl
10:31 Dude probably said it whenever he encountered a Demon trying to tempt him

Kira is so cute. :)
does anyone else hear a weird repeating audio glitch ?
es, it's like a weird small high pitch happening every 2 seconds, almost like a beep noise even. Very annoying.
Am I really the first to watch this video?
I'm pretty sure technically SFDebris saw it before you. 😅
I don't think so considering it was originally released in 2016 lol I watched it back then 😂
6:30 Nice to see someone else found this very fucked up .
Down with the Federation .
That's got very little to do with the Federation besides that the guy ordering it happens to be an officer from it.
