Star Citizen is an open development, crowd funded project from Cloud Imperium. Consisting of 2 games, Squadron 42 a single player, story driven campaign putting you in the middle of the Vanduul attacks as an up and coming UEE Navy pilot, and Star Citizen, a highly detailed
first person MMO set within a persistent universe where there are no limits. This includes, space, and ground aspects, massive spaceships with full interiors and interactions, a full dynamic economy which reacts to the players actions allowing for anything you can imagine.
It is all being built on the StarEngine (a modified version of Amazon's Lumberyard Engine).
Please bare in mind that this is heavily WIP and in an alpha state in which much of the foundational tech to make it a reality is still being developed. Both games do not have set release dates yet but you can play the alpha build for the PU MMO which makes consistent progress
with quarterly patch releases throughout the year.
I am an independent content creator and a fan of the game, I am not paid by Cloud Imperium however I do accept ships from them to giveaway to my community but this will by no means influence my opinion or what I say and believe about the project.

Armored transport could be good for high value/volatile cargo. Would like to see cargo missions that require a high security ship to take the mission.
Basically turning the Retaliator into Military Surplus vehicle for civilian use.
thats actually the official lore on it in galactapedia
Kind of the same use of the F7C Hornet with its 2 SCUs cargo.
High value/high speed transport as well, possibly blockade running though I don't remember how fast it actually is. A Retaliator is much more combat ready than a Taurus even without torpedoes, it might even get mistaken as the non-cargo variant to ward off would-be's.
According to the news that just dropped while I was watching this, all turrets have been upgraded to S3 weapon size.
and 6 shields lollll
The fact that one landing foot doesn't fully extend due to the rock and therefore the entire ship isn't tilted shows how well Star Citizen handles this. Other space games often have static landing supports that do not adapt to the surface. Love this game :)
U should try the elevators then. It'll lift an entire ship because it has to fully extend no matter what 😂
@@NegativeProcessdepends on the ship. For some they just clip into the ground lol
Coming from someone who's had an original concept Retaliator sitting in his hangar since 2013, I'm generally loving the gold standard pass.
The ship looks beautiful, the new side airlock is very appreciated and oh my lord the new engine sounds.
However...
I pray CIG will give the new turrets another pass, and quickly. They took the old, streamlined, open turrets and replaced them with literal boxes.
They don't conform to the shape of the ship, they have horrible visibility, and the ventral turrets don't flip the seat over anymore, limiting visibility even more.
The ship is *this* close to perfection, but the new turrets are an enormous blemish.
Edit because I just remembered:
For some reason CIG also elected to reduce the number of MFDs for the pilot from 8 with 6 in direct field of view, down to 4 with only two in FoV.
This is just inexplicable to me.
I like the option for a non-verbal alert system as simple as lighting. If there is a breach or emergency you can instantly inform the rest of the crew.
I think the Tali should have come with Cargo module as standard, as a base ship, it's expensive and useless otherwise :(
FYI: I have managed to bed log in the captains quarters in retaliator. The log out word were hidden, but when I clicked the '4' oclock segment I logged out
If I had at least two other ships to play the game with regularly, I’d love this ship. I have my wife… I just need to wait for my kids to grow up… or at least be out of diapers
Oh and they are raising all of the turret guns to size 3
It’s such a baby hammerhead
I love this game Don't get me wrong I play it make videos on it all that jazz. But I was just thinking this morning how crazy / amazing it is, so much of this game resides in our collective minds more than in reality. So many concepts floating around out there so many things that may not come to fruition so many things in the pipeline. That really is no other game like this.
So true.
They bit off more than they could chew. Plain and simple.
One easily spotted problem I've always seen with some of the older ships is that they have components inside them that are larger then the hallways or any of the entrances into that area to install it.
Yeah i think it will make more sense as a hauler when there is maybe some very expensive cargo moving through more dangerous areas.
Maybe a very long expedition where you are the defense for the explorers, you can run 1 cargo mod and 1 living quarters/torpedo mod for extra food and supplies.
Granted, the hauler mod probably is not within the original intentions for a ship like the Retaliator but i will admit that i bought mine with just that intention, eventually having a seriously combat capable ship for high value trading in dangerous areas. And well, because its just incredibly cool. Cant get over the sight of a big black spaceplane plowing through a battle towards its next victim (/Idris) with all those turrets firing...
But my decision to get the base version and never grabbing modules until now seems to have been a costly mistake unless they are really cheap once released to the ingame shops.
For now though, my only problems are waiting for npc crew or blades and figuring out where the button is to close the quantum drive compartment
I plan to use this occasionally but will use one cargo and one torp module, haul a bit but also needing to fling a size 9 hot dog I can.
What about modularity for the Carrick and the javelin?
I think they already said no modularity for the Carack and I can't see it with the Jav. It is a pretty much straight up a military combat only ship.
The only ship I couldn't care less how it actually performs, I just love it.
I admire your consistency & am really commenting to thank you for the years of informative, sensible videos you've made🍺
Tbh, I see this as being more of a pyro hauler. It's suppose to be a botched, rag-tag hauler from a by-gone era before logistics was standardised, so it holds not a bunch of use in systems such as Stantion. That said, Instead of running large merc groups as backup, and paying those prices, all turrets manned may give a small logistics crew viable ways to eek a living in more ruggish systems. That or it's just like an armoured bank van.... Thinking of those armoured carivans for trade within Metro 2033
So, apparently, drop-ship modules are likely.
Also, I picked up a Tali as I've always loved the ship. I got the torp variant, however, I can't load them. Modules are in but I can't get the torps to load. Anyone seen this issue? (Can't find anything on the forums or even reddit).
Right now. I can’t equip torps to the ship and the torp modules equip empty. Also, the modules sit in general inventory so my Homebase inventory has gone from 64% to 107% 😂
I love the new modularity but I already have the torpedo modules with LTI as I bought the torpedo full version of retaliator BUT I can't buy any cargo modules as they don't have LTI
You can bedlog on the retaliator, I’ve only managed to do it from the captains bed cuz there’s a weird bug with the crew beds where the game thinks they’re some sort of operator seats.
But from the captains bed it is possible, although finicky to log out. The way I’ve managed to do it is to look towards your left shoulder then up, hold f and press right click, then somewhere near your shoulder the interact prompt will appear and let you see the interaction wheel with the logout option.
From what I’ve heard, the retaliator isn’t the only ship that’s having this weird bedlog bug.
I have a retaliator, but I am tempted to CCU to something else. I don't have a huge network of friends to play with, and already have larger ships with crews of 7 or higher. I don't have much interest in smaller ships with a high crew count right now. I hope they can figure out AI crew or blades soon, otherwise these ships will be fairly useless to me.
probably can squeeze the 6 crewmates in the one elevator.
also, 6 shields? huh?
also also: did you try master mode SCM MSL?
I wouldn't call the Retaliator with cargo modules a hauler. More like a warship that can bring extra supplies for whatever mission you're doing.
Bed logging.. if you shift click or right click the 'get up' button from the laying down position, the context menu should let you log.. just got to find the pesky 'get up' button.
Hi Mac long time no see. It's always been a fav of mine I like it even more now that it's updated and it flies really nice. Cant wait for the other modules and also maybe some new ones - missile boat module? Cluster bomb module? Extended Fuel module?
There is no game quite like it, and that's why CIG will earn shitload of money more AND recruit citizens for years to come.
They absolutely must get blades right. With the reality of life we won’t always have friends available to play when we can so having bladed turrets is a must when you want to fly a multicrew ship.
Great vid mate. I have the Tali and the torp/cargo modules. One clarification. The dropship is front module only, not front and back.
I’ve kept a ccu to this hoping it would get a decent rework….. however the overall design is still bloody stupid, so …… nah.
Anyone else buy the cargo pack but didn’t receive the cargo module in game? I purchased this ship and I can’t even use the modules
If they add a med bay module their sales shoot up. Its just not worthwhile with torps and cargo too small to haul a Nursa. Not to mention the high crew requirements.
Its to slow in MM to solo bounty hunt with like it could in the last patch.
the sounds of this ship are awesome, would be cool if they would add AI atc to SC like realatc has. its a good blockade runner
That’s pretty neat ngl
Making the cargo bays enclosed like that is kinda aids, they should just open up the entire floorspace for cargo use
i wonder why we don't have blades yet, it doesn't seem to difficult to do considering they already have AI in the game.
I'm sure those cargo modules will be climate controlled for specific cargo
Too bad it flies poorly. Or did this change now with the gold standard?
Love this ship so much, I am so happy she got love finally. ^^
My only issue with the 'Tali is that the vtol engines don't tuck into the hull.
The retaliator looks sooooo out of place now. It needed a refresh ages ago.
Solo gameplay in anything larger than a single seater ship is basically dead as of 3.23, no one should delude themselves in thinking they can solo larger ships, do it, but it'll be a miserable experience, you won't live a long life, and if your flying a military ship, your asking for everyone to own you....and they will. ''NPC Crew/Blades'' are on the roadmap so said a dev, yet quite a way off, CIG are in rush to replace backers over AI, at least not till after the Kraken.
Amen
Personally I just think aesthetically it's a real ugly duckling, probably the most unattractive ship in the game, there is nothing redeeming about it apart from the interior, even the landing gear is ugly!
I think it looks good
how did you tune the Quantum markers off in Nav mode ?
At about the 1 minute mark is that the Jason Bourne music?
Noooo, don’t melt your Corsair for this.
I love the Retaliator. It is one of my favorite ships.
I want to see a fleet command module and a module with extra bunks and life support to allow the Tally to work as a mobile command platform for smaller fleets.
that's actually an awesome use case for this ship! heavily armored and shielded, stealthy, can defend if needed with full crew... holding some of the battle commanders in front of a holo table behind the glass of the front mod bay would be awesome!
Would make one hell of a blockade runner.
Can you tell me the Keys to install the Modular s
One step closer to being able to finally make full use of my Carrack, or being able to actually get the loot off of soft death'd NPC carracks (i hope).
Torps in back cargo bay in-front , hear me out,
First pass by over JT : you torp the C1 while turrets deal with any aerial back lash,
☝🏼 second pass-by : you release your SWARM of Pulse bikes to deal with ground forces. Eliminating the need for a drop ship mod/ escape pod or parachute (you can even drive the pulse out of the hatch of the Retaliator) AND giving your ground forces shields from the Pulse bikes.
I’m use to not using guns since my daily use to be the 315p. I at least get the comfort of the size 9’s now. Fuel is cheap, it’s my new daily. … for now.
Having the ability to turn emergency lights on could actually be a good think. You are in a big ship and someone sneaks on board, if you get alerted of their presence, then you can immediately turn the emergency lights on and it might alert the entire crew that you are under attack. Just a thought. Of course the captain would need to inform their crew members the purpose of this. But I really like having this control.
I thought it was "gold standard"?
"Alt + K" to separately cycle your ship's "Configuration".
Configuration is any "equipment animation" other than the std. "VTOL" (K) & "Landing Gear" (N) animations.
Really hope they make a medical module but I don't think they will. If they do I will have a tier 2 bed at the most which would be fine with me. With a module like that it makes a great raiding ship: raid party of 6-7, medical services, and a cargo area for loot.
Hope we get HAL 9000 on these ships
Drug lab front and back? 😂
The blades are on the top floor.
I have played this game since 2.9 and have never seen this ship's innards firsthand. Pretty cool info Mac.
And I can't wait for Blades. I'd like to automate some things around my ship. I hope we can get those soon.
closing the doors should also be possible, it would help to isolate fires, and floods, or in SC's case provide an airlock in case of a hull breach whilst also enabling escape from a compromised section of the ship
Anytime where I would need armoured transport of a small amount of cargo I would just take a Valkyrie. it seems redundant on release.
I really like your off grid series. I'd love to see them more frequently. I intend to do something similar.
Wonderful intro audio ❤
you do great cinematic shots, ryan. i wonder what a morphologis style video would look like if you woudl do one :)
30min Ads, no ty
Blockade runner
The bed in the CQ is bugged, you can bed log from a crew bunk
merlin or fury?
Retaliator needs pilot controller guns and im not even joking. the core idea that its a WW2 bomber with no guns of its own and only turrets is just stupid it does not work. it should have some firepower for the pilot. and this does not mean it needs to be overpowered. but nothing would be wrong if it had constallation lvl firepower. or even c1. there is no point to crew 7 people in to a friking retaliator when you can have hammerhead A2 or what ever. its just silly design choice to have it be a torpedo boat but lol it cant have any guns
Yeah definitely. The caterpillar and misc starfarers and Gemini have size 4 cannons for the pilot to use it's weird that a dedicated military ship doesn't have anything for the pilot. Even slaving the top and bottom turrets to the pilot would work. I think they could slap a pair of size 4 guns on the front underside without making it unbalanced.
Just wait till c1 and Connie loose guns to a copilot seat. Chris has said he wants to remove solo pilot guns from everything except fighters.
Yeah or the turrets on this should be automated. They’re so small lol it is not worth having a full crew onboard
If it is modelled upon WW2 then the most successful bombers were the ones with crew operated guns. This is why the Retaliator has manned turrets. The whole ship is designed for that "Memphis Belle" feel.
In any case, if you feel that's kinda silly in a Space Game, (and I can see it, myself) there are other alternatives you can fly and use to achieve your goals in game.
The Tally is what it is, and you can choose not to use it.
@@ricky6608 right? Like it's hard enough getting a crew together that wants to man turrets. Now try getting 2 of them to man dinky size 2 turrets with poor visibility.
An armed cargo hauler with all five turrets active and manned is a great use for this ship, but obviously everyone wants to use it for its original purpose as a torpedo boat.
Unfortunate then that on its own, it's effectively useless as a torpedo boat with the new AI since the torpedoes fired have a high chance of just getting shot and taken out before they hit their target. I was struggling with mine in a Phase 3 Overdrive Initiative mission last night because the Hammerhead's guns kept knocking my missiles out. You _really_ need a fighter screen to distract the guns while you come in at an angle to hit it.
to be fair though the hammerhead’s job is to shoot down fighters and torps so it should be good at that
I'd love a hanger bay for my Merlin
looks coool but i am going for Iron Clad tomorrow :)
The Tali has no missiles...
Oh, you figured it out. :-D
I love the Tali, but it isn't nearly as tough as it was last patch...
❤
The blades idea is dumb. It should just be hirable NPCs
It’ll be both with trade offs. Both options are a good idea
This is the first time I'm hearing about these "Blades", sounds like a dumb AI which would be pretty cool.
As I understand it, currently the plan is for blades to only work on remote turrets. Manned turrets will need players or NPC crew.
@@Jandl009 that’s not true - they said in the hammerhead’s Q&A that you will be able to blade it’s turrets.
❤😊🙏👍😍😘🙂🤗🎉👌😁💐💪🎊😀🎂
Love your work! BTW bed logging is 🐛 🐞 🪳 but it works.
