+Janion Industries.. Its pretty easy to get angry at other people wasting money, especially if you have been at a point in your life where every single dollar matters and you didnt have money. This is why you will never see me waste any money lol. Every purchase I make down to the socks on my feet is HIGHLY calculated lol
you are so right man, I used to waste my money on dumb shit while I was in high school. Looking back at it, I always wished I didn't spend it going out and stuff instead of saving it... :/
Next owner >1000$ new ecu and maybe injectors >couple of hours of work installing them and fine tuning the car >BAAAM!!! 700+HP >Getting the money spent buying the car in a matter of weeks winning bets and racing pricks.
skatekidize no it tops out at 280 But if he put a gt35r a or something bigger with a aem stand alone he make 700 my rb20 stock block made 420whp lol it's amazing what a stand alone will do lol
Frank Stark ppl usually build for own reasons also. he probably built it for reliability and sacrificed power. and I'm sure he has room to up the boost and a better tune for more power so he was happy with the hp the car made.
I'm 15 years old and going to work next year and save up for a 240sx and go rb swap... I watch this video once a while to remind me wat I'm saving up for
Well its good you are setting goals in life. I did the same for this car, just had a mental image of what I wanted and kept going until it was in front of me. If you'd like I can upload the high res photos of the car to a shared google drive or something. Just let me know and I'll post the link.
I was thinking this same thing. High Dollar, multi-stage build, non-OEM fitment swap, bumper to bumper rebuild refinishing just about every surface of the car, $40K thrown into it... yet has the vocal inflection of someone narrating a Junior year High School presentation on Dragonflys in Biology III. Who spends a documented (with receipts) $40,000, only to knowingly lose $25,000 at the end... and is just totally mellow like that?? Mellow enough to make a video documenting this epic Tire Fire of an investment using dollar bills for kindling?
Simple & Clean could of always went a bigger Garrett also, it's well documented Garrett gtx line flows more power up in the revs compared to precision of the same size.
Buying a car that is already fast is boring. To me it's not about the money, but the journey of the build. Talking with people, sharing ideas, researching, troubleshooting, etc is more satisfying than just buying a fast car.
Welcome to the world of project cars? Have you ever build one? There´s always this thing you and your friends talked about that needs changing... Like he did on his car...start with something and you get into it..big time
+unfound23 you missed the point and obviously you dont know to much about these cars but a part out would have definitely given a better return than what he sold it for.
DUDE!!!..... You spend all that $$$ on a boot full of brand new top quality parts, have a mate to help build a nice little car (paying a shop to do that would have cost another $40,000), take it to the track, a few shows, and sell it? changing to e85 fuel and finding a better tuner than the guy who first tuned it, could have got you close to 500whp and if the engine was built and tuned correctly you could have thrashed it for many safely, the guy who paid $15k for that would be waking up laughing every morning.

All the others skip around the pricing always saying "if you've been keeping up im sure you can figure out how much we spent" like wtf your'e showing us everything regarding your build but making us work for the info still? You explained your whole project car story concisely showed us in less detail but covered it well. I added this to my favorites and liked it. Maybe i'll start a project car of my own but at least this gives great insight. Thank you
bruh... 40k sold for 15k. i wouldve died in that car and for that car lmfao. Such a beautiful car and so much work put in, not to mention sweet parts. F's in the chat for Rob and Alticetube.
What you did to that car was amazing... my hat is off to u for creating such beauty...thank you for this video.. buuuuuttttttt 15k wth... you deserve an extra life for that
with these kinds of cars if you put in a lot you will most likely never get what you put into it. Thats why you should never build a car like this is you dont want to keep it forever at least in my opinion
you should be happy... many people start a project and never complete it. it has been completed, you built it. it is your creation. it is and will forever be what you make it. let loose of your thoughts and just enjoy it. if it gets some damage, remember it is just a car, a beautiful car at that but at the end of the day it is one of may millions of cars. we cannot expect many people to appreciate the hard work that goes into a car guys car. your hard work has paid off, just enjoy the ride.
Thank you for this video and your honesty. This "WAS" my dream build, but the last 30 secs or so slapped me with a rude but needed reality! It appears turned out AWESOME. And looks like you made someone very happy. But now I must agree with you, "if you want it fast, buy it fast", lol👍😂
Magnificent story. Superb build. Absolutely mesmerizing car. Great job man. I can tell that you definitely deserve the title of a car owner that actually appreciates the cars he builds. 39,000 dollars building something you love says a lot about a person. Yes, I would have done that same old generic thing of doing it differently and parted it out or put a different motor in it for more horsepower or just kept it and passed it on to the fruit of my loins... however, it is your car, it is your choice and your choice alone. It has already happened, but I implore you to look for the silver linings and perhaps learn from this car and enjoy the experiences and the knowledge you gained from building this beautiful machine. It's special. And if you truly believe it was special to you in your lifetime, that is all that truly matters.
Wow that's a lot of money. I was just talking to my wife about your build and I actually thought you broke even or maybe even made a small profit. But wow no profit for sure. Yeah I want to build something like this a 240 but I'm not sure I'm ready to spend that much on something like this. Thanks for the video
Haha yeah way too much money. I found it tough to sell a heavily modified car. Not many people are looking for one unless it was done by a professional or a known shop. Otherwise, it is probably unlikely to make a profit. So my advice is to be in it for the experience. Built it, have fun, make friends, tell stories, move on to the next thing. This experience cost me ~$30K over 5 years. Hurts less when I say it that way. But I met a lot of people and had a lot of fun doing it. And your story may be totally different than mine so don't let some jackass's story on RUclips (mine) sway you away from something you want to do.
@@alticetube bro I appreciate the support. Yeah I'm going for it. Doing it for with my family that loves cars it will be a long process but we'll get there.
@@alticetube deal I will try to video the build if we decide to do that. We are in the process of buying our first home.so not sure we may have to wait a while
Watching OCD take over your build, while your voice stayed perfectly calm. This had me in tears the whole time. Then the wife picking the number 0, because wives know how to make us feel special. And the grand total at the end... ROTFL.😂😂😂 You should just narrate car build for a living. This was a great video. Thanks.
I thought it would be awesome to have a car like this but then I just got nervous driving it because every tick I'd hear I'd start to think "what was that! Do I need to replace that? Is something going bad?" Then worrying about people hitting it because insurance would only pay for the price of a stock 240. Maybe I worry too much... But I expected a lot more power too.
i have the same engine with a T-35 CX Racing turbo and greddy intake. That turbo in your build is too big to have on the engine without an aftermarket ECU or stand-alone management. That is all you needed to make everything worth it. If I could do it all again I would just install a T3-T4 turbo with some 550 injectors.
alticetube if someone hits your car and theyre at fault, you show them 40k worth of receipts and they give you 40k... unless youre not in America then I wouldnt know
345 hp with cams new turbo pistons rods ported head intake front mount fuel and more pretty sure you could have made that with a stock RB with a few bolt on's and a good tune that thing should have made a good 500+hp or some where near it
I really appreciate this video because this is my dream-build but for a daily haul vs a truck monster. Thank you for keeping it real. You just saved me a lot of headaches, pain, and money! 😂✊🏾✌🏾
After watching your video, i built a replica of it on forza horizon 3! Sadly I couldn't put a rb25det engine so I put a 2jz engine in it, it's still badass!!!
ahhahaha all of the guys here doesn't seem to know that prodject race cars never pay themselves back... wish you would have put billet rods and a new light forged crank on... would have let you push the boost preasure safely much higher and made the power you'd like but i guess you learn as long as you live. super detailed and clean build much respect:)
2 best ways to loose shit loads of money on a car: 1)buy it brand new and loose half the value in a few years 2)spend loads on parts then sell it for a loss insted of parting it out DON'T DO EITHER OF THESE THINGS!
I understand I did the same thing to a prelude bb4 back in the days. I had a blast building it, I guess that’s the way it is with many things we build in life. Some lucky guy drove it off after he bought it from me, boy was he happy.
How the FUCK could you sell this car! FFS, especially after spending 40.000 bucks on it. Was your wife on drugs when she agreed to throw away that much money and not enjoy it as long as you live? Anyways, huge respect for the build. Very properly done, incredible parts and great result.
Great build! Just in case anyone wants to do the same, for 450-500hp you don't need an aftermarket exhaust manifold, intake, cams or head work. You can save thousands by keeping them stock and just using a correctly sized turbo. The setup will also be more responsive too
so you spent 40k modding it plus lets say 8-10k buying the car (total 50k) and then sell it for 15k?!? why, also that thing should be making way more then 350hp.
That car was done and done right. It was definitely worth more. money. I agree ebay was not the place to sell the car. After all you hard work, blood, sweat and tears your just sell the car.
Thats funny, its not built right, if he'd have done like just a little bit more work to it and barely any more money compared to what he had in it he'd have a car with like 700+ hp
Love the video and the tuner car scene but I'm the point where if modding anything more than wheels, tires, suspension, brakes maybe a tune and a few bolt ons it's time to move on and just get a better car
It's cuz u don't know how to tune these types of cars properly. You can make some pretty insane power with these little jdm engines. U can build a 600hp + 2jz with $13k these days
I read where build was better than final product..agreed..but damn what a list..I got s13 with sr...love it..fine for daily..wish I saw this for sale..excellent track day car... even if it's a few years...post your next build...I'll look for it..good luck
This was one of the best and most detailed car builds iv seen on youtube, well done man. You gave birth to a beautiful car. But maybe next time just start with a skyline and forgo the whole process of fitting an rb hahaha ;)
No worder he only has one build... that $25k loss could have been invested in other avenues. Wow, your wife is one of a kind for puttin up with your mindset haha.
Your lesson at the end tells me something about you and the reason we are getting crazy expensive fast cars from factories 😂it's not going to stop people from taking the challenge to make something faster than it should
I liked it better before the body kit was added 8:00 . I love the original fluid lines the body had. The body kit added to much angularity to it. Its a "meaner" look but not as clean to me. You settled on 15k? man I wish I was more in tune with sellers as I wouldn't have thought for a second about just handing you 20k for it and tbh thats a very lowball number you could have gotten for it.
I had the idea that a drift car (build) would be cool and fun, but seeing how much money you practically lose if you decide to sell it got me backed off. Not to mention the maintenance and tire costs when you actually go drifting. Nice video to watch, and thanks for the reality check with the total cost!
OH MY GOD...that 240sx is so damn nice...also the grand total at the end x.x... OMG! Good advice, though...."buy a car that's already fast"! xD.....damn...I think you should have kept that 240sx...but whoever you sold it to must be a lucky guy! :)
This is an extreme example dude obviously had the money to blow lol. Most people just put in stronger internals and a clutch bigger turbo and go for more power.
I watch this video every other year or so when i see it in my recommedations again. Its very cool!
Me too, i already watch this like 5-6 times
Even just the narration makes you create your memories of how

ahhahaha all of the guys here doesn't seem to know that prodject race cars never pay themselves back... wish you would have put billet rods and a new light forged crank on... would have let you push the boost preasure safely much higher and made the power you'd like but i guess you learn as long as you live. super detailed and clean build much respect:)
NO 240SX OWNER WOULD EVER SELL IT
Great story, I really liked the way you transformed your car.
now thats a sick looking 240
The sarcasm is strong with this one ...lol but Respect on the build and showing all the details of what you spent.
If made plenty of mistakes like you, I grew up and just bought myself a brand new 2016 z06 that was already fast and under warranty 👍👍
Awesome, the new vettes look beautiful and with warranty, can't be beat.
But this car looks good unlike a zo6 😂😂
2 best ways to loose shit loads of money on a car:
1)buy it brand new and loose half the value in a few years
2)spend loads on parts then sell it for a loss insted of parting it out
DON'T DO EITHER OF THESE THINGS!
This video was awesome, I absolutely loved the commentary. Please do another video on your next project.
Gorgeous and properly done , NICE!
Bro you had one of the cleanest Kouki S14s that I've ever seen. What a sleeping beast. Glad you had fun
Nice looking clean 240 with power good stopping power also 👍good job 🔰
The setup will also be more responsive too
perfect example of the "endless project car" joke
Awesome story. It actually made me tear up. People don't understand the connection between us guys and our cars
so you spent 40k modding it plus lets say 8-10k buying the car (total 50k) and then sell it for 15k?!? why, also that thing should be making way more then 350hp.
Good job dude well done on the car. But I got to let you know that the whole engine crossmember from RB25 front cut should bolt into your 240sx.
Corporal Punishment That would have made life easier if I knew about that.
should have up'd the boost
I can't believe you ended up selling it in the end...never before have I had such an emotional experience towards a car related topic 😭
How you explained it all 🤣 it seemed so peace lol made it seem like you didn’t spend a dime 👌🏼😏🤣. Love the build 🤙🏻👏🏻
Love the video and the tuner car scene but I'm the point where if modding anything more than wheels, tires, suspension, brakes maybe a tune and a few bolt ons it's time to move on and just get a better car
Agree totally. There are many really nice cars built for performance from the factory, no need to waste any time building something up.
It's cuz u don't know how to tune these types of cars properly. You can make some pretty insane power with these little jdm engines. U can build a 600hp + 2jz with $13k these days
what a cool car. RB25 Swapped Silvia.
this video made me cry because you spend $40,000 on your dream car then selling it for third of the price of what you spend building it.
I read where build was better than final product..agreed..but damn what a list..I got s13 with sr...love it..fine for daily..wish I saw this for sale..excellent track day car... even if it's a few years...post your next build...I'll look for it..good luck
Dude honestly idk what your talking about but your I just like your voice haha
This was one of the best and most detailed car builds iv seen on youtube, well done man. You gave birth to a beautiful car. But maybe next time just start with a skyline and forgo the whole process of fitting an rb hahaha ;)
thank God you didn't put a f****** Toyota motor in it
I should of got the RB30.
but 2j
alticetube rb30 sucks bro
LOL to over done is the problem with that. There nothing special anymore.
lol first thing I thought was : should have gone 2j
No worder he only has one build... that $25k loss could have been invested in other avenues. Wow, your wife is one of a kind for puttin up with your mindset haha.
350whp???? You could've sprayed a 100 shot on the stock rb motor and pulled similar numbers...
sigh
nah you're just a 1320 video kid that wants to be slow.... sorry
Theres no way he couldve done this in todays money/economy. Yall were ahead of the game a long time ago 🔥
i wish i had the money to do something like this
Your lesson at the end tells me something about you and the reason we are getting crazy expensive fast cars from factories 😂it's not going to stop people from taking the challenge to make something faster than it should
I liked it better before the body kit was added 8:00 . I love the original fluid lines the body had. The body kit added to much angularity to it. Its a "meaner" look but not as clean to me. You settled on 15k? man I wish I was more in tune with sellers as I wouldn't have thought for a second about just handing you 20k for it and tbh thats a very lowball number you could have gotten for it.
man stole his gold fr
Very honest of you to list the cost of the build at the end.
You can lose a lot of money on a one off build, a lot of people do.
Bet your kicking yourself for selling. Sounded like you weren't knowledgable enough to own such a beast.. unfortunate
I had the idea that a drift car (build) would be cool and fun, but seeing how much money you practically lose if you decide to sell it got me backed off. Not to mention the maintenance and tire costs when you actually go drifting. Nice video to watch, and thanks for the reality check with the total cost!
Damn I miss that car. Good times building it. What's next?
Honda 50 restore project!
alticetube for fuck sake listening to Rob is what lost u 25k u mupet
OH MY GOD...that 240sx is so damn nice...also the grand total at the end x.x... OMG! Good advice, though...."buy a car that's already fast"! xD.....damn...I think you should have kept that 240sx...but whoever you sold it to must be a lucky guy! :)
Can't lie this video scared me to death LMAO no jdm build for me
This is an extreme example dude obviously had the money to blow lol. Most people just put in stronger internals and a clutch bigger turbo and go for more power.
Reminds me of a credit card ad....the experience? PRICELESS....and the excellent moments are much, much more PRICELESS👏👏👏🤘🤘
