- Crochet SHELL STITCH TUTORIAL in the Round / Crochet This Fun & Beautiful Stitch! / Tutorial / How To
Ciao friends! If you are so inclined, you can now buy me a coffee. It really helps the channel, and I could use the caffeine, so thanks! 😉 www.buymeacoffee.com/ThimbleH...
Today I show you how to crochet the Shell Stitch.
I just love this stitch and hope you do as well!
Today's tutorial is in preparation for tomorrow's Vintage / Retro Flapper Hat. ThimbleHooks - "The hardest working crocheter on RUclips" - Хобби
Thank you so much for this video tutorial I've been crocheting for years but never have done a shell stitch in the round for a hat. I especially loved your "sneaky" way of making a ring. Ingenious!
You are so welcome LK! Happy Thanksgiving! Bethany
Really want to make a water bottle holder with this stitch, excited to try, it really isn’t that easy to find the right tutorial!
That sounds like fun - that stitch would work really well for that! Bethany
Its working perfectly! Wish I could share pictures through RUclips comments! It seems to work with any multiple of 10 ❤ thank you
Shell stitch is always always my fav stitch to learn. CANT wait for the next hat tutorial
Tomorrow.....😉
Wow great tip about making a circle without twisting very beautiful thank you for sharing
My pleasure 😊
I'm so happy I found this tutorial! I'm doing this stitch on a short and I couldn't figure out how to do it on the round so thank you for this!!!
I am very glad you found me Amme - welcome! I hope you look around a bit at my channel, I'll bet there is something else you will like! Bethany
Good morning! Thank you for another awesome tutorial 😊🧶🎶✌️
You are so welcome!
Thank you!! I really like your little trick for keeping it from twisting! Love that pattern!!
Glad it was helpful!
🟠 Darling hat! See you tomorrow.
I'll be there!
Fabulous!
Thanks Shelly
I love that you only do half the shell & then finish & SC at the end. I HATE the look of a chain 3 in place of a first DC & then sls into the top of it, for me it throws the whole look of the pattern out & I'm a bit fussy, so even if you can't notice it - I KNOW ITS THERE 😂
Anywho, love ur channel (only found it a few days ago) & def a new sub from me, all the way down down under in New Zealand 💕
I absolutely don't think a Chain 3 should ever be a DC either Mrs. Gump. I avoid it as much as possible! Check out some of my Granny Squares and you will see that I hide it there as well.
Welcome to my channel and I hope you find many creations that you enjoy!
Isn't it rather late (or early) in NZ right now? 😉 Bethany
@@ThimbleHooks yup! It's 330am Wednesday morning here atm. In fact, it must be about time I actually slept lol
At your house it is my birthday - too cool! It isn't here yet...😢
Have great sleep....!
@@ThimbleHooks aawwww yay! Happy Birthday!! 🥳🎁❤️ I hope you got spoilt rotten!!!!
I had a look thru all ur vids & found ur mobius hat vid (which I'm def going to do once my next lot of "orders" ie: family wanting stuff lol are finished) but was wondering if you would do a mobius shawl tutorial? Or can you suggest a good pattern? Also, an ideas for making a lace garter for my niece's wedding next month (May 21st) I've found some ok free patterns on ravelry but nothing quite feels right. I was thinking about instead of making in the round, making like a lace tape (for lack of a better word) or a strip of pattern off something like a bookmark & just putting a "ladder" type bit thru the middle to run elastic & blue ribbon thru. What u think? Ur experience & opinion would be very very much appreciated 💕
Good morning (or middle of the night)! Did you see this Mobius Shawl that I did?

Also, I have been thinking about a garter, but when I do one I will most likely do it the 2nd way you suggest, as a "tape" rather than in the round. I better get it figured out I guess as my oldest daughter is getting married in October...!
What. Great idea 💡 about put attaching the other end of chain to hook .. thanks..😎
Glad you liked it!
Thank you!!! I’ve been looking for a video like this for so long 🥺
Do you happen to have a video on how to increase this stitch ?
No, I have not done a video about that Chisom, but now you have put it into my head... 😀 Bethany
Yes ty for that trick to keep the chain from twisting….just wish your camera was closer to the work!!!!
It is just impossible to please everyone KT. I know many crocheters bring their camera very close, and I used to, but one day I pulled it out just a little for a project so viewers could see the "in progress" that I also had on my desk. Viewers loved that and asked me to keep doing it with the vast majority commenting that they like being able to also see what they are making while they are stitching so that they know they are progressing properly. I get a few comments like yours here and there, but I get SOOO many more thanking me for keeping the project in view. I hope that makes sense.
Well, sorry for that drawn-out explanation, but I sure am glad you like my little trick! Bethany
I have a question. Why do we chain one and then do a single crochet in the starting of the round.
Why not just slip stich and then sungle crochet?
Why chain one in the start of round one and two?
Hi Rabiya, and thanks for the question. You could certainly do it the way you suggest, (and I have also done it that way), I just personally believe that the way I show it in the video makes the finished product look better. Bethany

Thankyou so much, love the way you have taught.
Again thankyou for replying so quickly ❤
You chain 1 to bring you’re hook up to the level of your first stitch. Without it, the yarn might pull.
It’s actually the same as the regular shell stitch except for the split shell at the beginning & end.
It looks like you are going into the back stitch????
No, not in a this Stitch Chris. Bethany
This was too fast for me 😕
slow down the video
