Riding behind Australia's Largest Steam Locomotive; 6029 at the Thirlmere Festival of Steam 2024

In this video we ride behind Australia's largest operational steam locomotive; NSW Railways AD60 Class 6029 Beyer-Garratt at the 2024 Thirlmere Festival of Steam. We ride behind 6029 as it travels along the former Picton - Mittagong Loop Line from Picton towards Thirlmere, a line now used by the NSW Rail Museum for its regular steam trains. We hear the locomotive chuff hard as it snakes its way around the countryside, raining soot along the way.
6029 is one of 42 AD60 Class Beyer-Garratt locomotives built by Beyer, Peacock & Company that entered service with the New South Railways between 1952 - 1956. They were the last type of steam locomotive to enter service in New South Wales before the onset of dieselisation, and were seen operating freight services across New South Wales.
6029 entered service in 1954 and was withdrawn in September 1972. It entered preservation shortly after and ran heritage trips until 1991 when it was withdrawn from use. Restoration began in 2007 and returned to service in February 2015.

6029 is 255-264 tonnes. Harry is only 146 tonnes.

​@carisi2k11 So technically, NSWGR 6029 is the largest preserve doperating loco in Australia which makes VR H220 the second largest preserved loco in Australia aswell as several preserved SAR 520 class's.
