Great video! Not much I can say that hasn't been said, but.....I can't believe nobody has commented on the tiny trailers brought them on!?! Well played!
I have an 04 WJ that I was going to put a lift kit on with the last $1400 stimulus, I got an 07 Mercury Mountaineer instead. I still have the Jeep, sure wish I could lift it, I want to trail ride sooo bad. Love to see you having fun out there.
I was following this thread on the forum; and I'll admit not only impressed, but I'd be interested in doing it to mine. Just alot of modification that I'd rather not do. So I'll stick to ol reliable Carter
EFI will ALWAYS be better than any carb setup especially if ACTUALLY wheeling and going up steep grades as carbs tend to starve of fuel in those instances. I remember running an Edelbrock EFI kit on my S10 many years ago now when they first came out. Took ALOT of dialing in and tuning and just never could seem to get it 100% right. I eventually sold it to another kid for his ol Nova and he ran into the same issues I did, and it was far from an inexpensive kit.
This is awesome man! I’ve been thinking about a sniper on L134 for a bit and your vid series popped up. Thanks for all the leg work to you’ve done for the community. Any chance you’ll be doing a batch of the adapters for the sniper? I’d be interested if you are and there might be others
I put a sniper on my Suzuki samurai. Love it! But it is definitely worth it to have it tuned on a dyno. The self learning does pretty good but has its limits. Mine never would run hard at full throttle until I had it tuned. Great videos, love your flattie.
@@jacklandismcgowan1413 1.3, pretty built up. I haven’t driven it on the highway for a while(mostly off-road). I had it dynoed and it put 68 hp to ground, stock is 64 at crank. Still slow due to bigger tires. The hyper spark ignition made a big difference
Love seeing the sniper work well on the Willys. I had one on my CJ8. Loved it. Not sure if you know or not, but you can adjust the range on the RPMs to a lower number than 20k. It makes it more visible. I had it set to 6k max on my CJ8. Have fun with it. I enjoy your videos.
You know, after seeing this efi put on. I thought it would be a good option for smaller 4 cyl engines. I know its designed for a 6 though. So I called Holley, and asked a simple question " what is the smallest displacement this will work with". There really wasn't a answer. Just thats it designed with a 6 in mind. I mentioned your Willys install... With a return line, this Sniper should eliminate vapor lock too. Thats the selling point for me. Old French cars love to boil the gas in the middle of a intersection! On a draw back side, they will not sell the ecu separate. When something goes bad, you must ship the whole thing back... Something about having it gently cook above the engine doesn't sit well with me... Just saying.
I have 2 CJ’s a 2a and a 3a, the 3 a is full restoration, the 2a is gonna be a fun one, it’s got an odd fire V6 and I think I am going to go with a sniper on that one.
Can't you buy/modify/swap out to a smaller diameter pulley for the existing alternator to increase the rpm at low speed and thereby increase charge/voltage output? Greetings from Scotland by the way ....
Just found your channel. Nice to see the younger generation still interested in the old flat fenders. I’m curious what your running for front and rear axles. It looked like you have a posi in the front.
I'd go this route if I had the cash but when I was resurrecting my truck a Weber swap was the easiest option... Turned minor nightmare due to poor quality adapter plates, got custom machined adapters and it runs like a sewing machine. I can't justify the cost to upgrade further...
My system was installed on a 76 chevy k20 suburban with a low deck 427. The system ran perfectly until "that day". We were 12 miles down rough Colorado back country trails. Now she is carb again and I'll never go back. Factory fuel injection is great but aftermarket is no good for trails were they can leave you in a bad way. At least that is my experience
@@TurnNBurn not a spare ecu though? I get spares. I carry too much at times because I've been stranded and solo. I loved my sniper for ease of use but I'll never trust one again. A carb kit and a gas jug on the roof is all that's needed with a carb. Fuel pump is gravity feed. Now my 70 Javelin runs aftermarket efi and I'll stick with it because I'll never be in a bad way like a backcountry trip.
@@TurnNBurn yeah. After rethinking it my old system was a Howell. My bad on that one. Still the Qjet will run at any altitude and any angle the big old dog can climb.
iF YOUR SYSTEM GOES BAD CONSIDER A ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP . I HATED TO DO CHANGES BUT SOME PARTS YOU CANT BUY ANYMORE SO I INSTALLED ONE AFTER MY OLD ONE DIED . THEY DONT COST A HILL OF BEANS ,ITS THE SMALLEST I COULD FIND.. I HID IT UNDER THE BODY ,RAN THE LINES THROUGH THE OLD FUEL PUMP; BUT YOU COULD GO DIRECTLY TO THE CARB. i JUST WONDER HOW A ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP WOULD WORK WITH THE SNIPER SYSTEM ?
@@TurnNBurn OK. If I were you, I'd go to the next step and get solid state ignition with a crank position sensor and 4 individual coils. Also, how much excess fuel flow and pressure does the pump give for your 60hp engine? Maybe a couple of amps could be saved there?
Ultima Part #16224. You will have to open up the holes to bolt it on, but not much work at all. There's a thread on earlycj5 that talks about the setup

Are you running the stock 1.3 engine in your Sami ? How’s it run on the highway ?
Interesting!

Maybe if I had an L134 but atm I don’t have an engine at all 😂
Edit: Holley EFI adapter kits are finally available, and you can purchase on my website: www.turnandburnout.com
I literally came back here to ask you if a fella could talk you into fabricating one of these adapters for enough money.
Yes I’m interested

I saw a video on Facebook of a guy who installed one of these Snipers on a Farmall Cub.
@@TurnNBurn which I'm sure was absolutely necessary lol🤣
Still impressive. Now go a step smaller and install on a weedeater
I know people use them on VW beetles so maybe 50hp on the best day and only 1.6l but there is some adjustment needed for that.
You most definitely can run this setup on a 4cyl buddy
I just installed the Holley Sniper 1100 on my Pinzgauer engine using an intake manifold I built. Learned a lot from your video.

man I want to EFI my CJ7
I had to sand my glass bowl flat it was cut very bad. But it sanded easy

Stock axles welded up

Did the military tires get good traction or not? I have an M38. or would you prefer a set of knobby tires?
I installed the Sniper 1100 installed on my Pinzgauer. I have had 5 TPS sensors failed. Have you had any issues with your TPS?
Awesome!
Want more MPG swap the 4 speed manual transmission for a 6 speed manual transmission.
Physically not enough room on an 80" wheelbase
Does the parking brake work on the yellow Jeep? Handle was still out when he was backing and stalling off the trailer. ;)
Looks like it
Eagle eye! I had to go back and look at my raw footage. It looks like the drum is worn and he left the arm partially pulled out like that all day.

EFI requires a high pressure electric fuel pump
Great video. Out of curiosity, who made/designed your family roll cage on the white Willys?
I made it
Have you tried lowering the cold A/F ratio with the diffuser installed? I think it helps distribute the air/fuel mix evenly between the cylinders.
I did not, it ran so horribly I just cut the V shape out, then it ran perfectly

can't turn the jeep off remotely with the carb, may be a concern in the future?...Yah bless...doug
An EMP will kill a spark plug anyways
Any chance on you selling a intake adapter?

at least dont EVER convert it to electric motor , we need to keep de red devil engines alive for 50+ years from now !!!
Instant torque would be cool in the trails
