- WEEK 1--I am taking a great songwriting workshop with NYC based singer-songwriter and session musician Tony Conniff, where we get one song assignment a week for 5 weeks. So I am writing a song a week for 5 weeks, and posting them as they come. I strongly recommend any songwriters out there to take the next workshop that Tony offers! Please contact him through his website (listed below the lyrics) or reach put to me and I would be happy to pass on his info.
Hope you enjoy!
Week 1:
Write a song (or part of a song) in any style or genre about someone with a problem, and how they are dealing with that problem. Lyrics below:
Verse:
Youngest in my family
Bringing shame to everyone
They're preaching hard work fantisies
When my talent is enough
Pre-Chorus:
I'm much too cool to be caring
I think I'm extraordinary
Chorus:
But I'm so misunderstood
If I could change, you know I would
I think that living really should
Be so much easier
Verse:
Your rules don't apply to me
You do not dictate
The self-fulfilling prophecy
I am sure to generate
Pre-Chorus:
I know the truth I am special
Now that I've got your attention
Chorus
Bridge:
I don't need money, I don't need a car
I don't need a road map, I just follow the stars
And after they burn out, I'll make my way to the bar
Chorus 2x

I imagine Jimmy Hopkins with a guitar whenever I listen to this. The song fits him too.
Maybe he will play guitar in bully 2?
