    Lovely palms but please note they need plenty of space if planted in ground - there are many in smallish front gardens almost obscuring the house. Also , the leaves at the base have tough needle sharp points which could severely cause injury especially to the eyes. Great care needed particularly for small children

    Nice informative video! I recently bought a 3 meter tall phoenix canariensis and I'm planting it in my garden next year. A little bit of winter protection is gonna be required in my region though (I'm in Franconia, Germany).

    Thay can tolerate freeze temps to -8C, but with large daytime temperature rebound.
    prolonged freeze with night to temperatures below -6C can kill the growing centre!
