I love how this gentleman understands that you can't refurbish a Snap on vice with non Snap on tools! It just can't happen. Love your work and attention to detail. Hello from Oregon, USA.
Nice work. I restore vises as a hobby also. I learned a trick from watching your video. I always had trouble with painting the lettering. Now I realize that I should be priming the letters first. Makes the paint adhere better. Thanks.
Nice restoration. Could have filed casting imperfections, more grease, T-9 Boeshield on all surfaces not exposed, and it needs washers between the swivel nuts and the swivel base.
That looks better than the factory, this is one of the best vise restoration videos I have ever seen ( and I have seen a lot) I occasionally restore a vise but you took this to a whole other level 👍 great video 👌
Yes, it is an amazing restoration 100% restoration! But if you think this is the best, you haven't seen my mechanics restoring his Gressel vises, or any of his items... Go find him.
Fantastic job mate. My wife and I had a kitchen that colour in the ‘70’s. The only fault I could find is with an anvil polished like that, I would never hit anything on it. 😁🇦🇺
Hi Shed Man X, thank you so much for your great comment, I'm really glad you liked the video, the green turned out to be a real Marmite(Vegimite) colour for a lot of people, you're right about it being too good to use, looks like I'm going to have to find another vice to use, watch this space👍😊
Super Job; and if it accidentally falls off the bench into a gloomy corner of the workshop, you should be able to find it without too much problem! As ever your production values are fantastic, thanks for sharing!
Hi Nick, thank you so much for your kind comment, there are no gloomy areas of the workshop now the vice is installed😂😂keep up the great work on your channel👍😊
Amazing job love the colour and a great video thanks for sharing your time and skill and remember stay safe and make more great videos thanks again 🍺🍺👍👍
Hi John, thank you so much for your kind comment, I think the colour has certainly divided opinion but I was very happy with the way it turned out in the end👍😊
Great job, Ive used the same paint on a Hibernia [pre Marples] woodwork vice, a few months ago, I've had to touch up the paint a few times and am thinking about putting a polyeurethene clear coat over it
Hi Diarmaid, thank you for your kind comment, I'm really glad you liked the video, you're absolutely right, I was going to give the vice a coat of lacquer but ran out of time before the publishing deadline, it would definately help preserve the paint👍😊
Hola Jorge, muchas gracias por tu amable comentario, estoy muy contento de que hayas marcado el video. A su derecha, el tornillo de banco está hecho por Wilton para Snap-on👍😊
Hi Jack, thank you so much for your kind comment, I'm really glad you liked the video, I think I may have seen a photo of you in this garage before now😬👍😊
Hi Little Restorers, thank you so much for your kind comment, I'm really glad you liked the video. Glow in the dark? it can be seen at night by the international space station😂😂😂
That's a serious vice and another excellent restoration, Monsieur Dave. Loads of patience and skill, and great use of paint techniques. Lithium grease? I'm more familiar with lithium carbonate, in various doses. And I understand the rationale behind the paint-job, but it's a bit 70's disco for my taste! A bientot! Mme L.
Salut Madame, merci for your kind comment, I think restorations and lithium grease should be prescribed over lithium carbonate every time, working to improve something is the best anti-depressant 👍😊the paint job really has turned out to be a little Marmite😂😂😂
Hi Dave. Love the colour... something different. What do you think it would look like with the shiny bits blackened with cold bluing... I think it would lift the Snap-on logo. Just a thought for when you get bored again :-)
Hi Doug, thank you for your kind great comment, I'm really glad you liked the video. Your suggestion is super, we have seen the same vice with blued parts on instagram and it did look really good👍😊
Good job. Looks like new. Where do you get your stickers at? I have a couple of projects that need some reproduced versions because of needing to look like when they were made. I think thre are some companies that do that but don't knot
Hi Glen, thank you so much for your kind comment, I'm really glad you liked the video, as Ben Tool Addict has pointed out, eBay is probably your best bet😊👍
you can really tell who sponsored this thing. and yeah, that is a wilton vise. snap on is more into over priced tools and boxes. if they made the vise, they would have had SNAP ON in the metal on the vise itself. i would rather see it red.
Hi Mike, thanks for your comment, however, my video doesn't have a sponsor, I just took the opportunity to tell the story of the restoration using things we had readily available in the workshop. Keep up the great work on your channel.

True & Good point
😂 except this is a Wilton vise that snap on slapped a sticker on and marked up
Better than when it was purchased I’ll bet. One thing for sure that glow in the dark lime green will stand out in any shop. 😁

Snap-on did not manufacture this vise. It is a Wilton. All Snap-on did was to add a decal and increase the price by 30%.
Hi Paul, thank you for your comment.
That's what they do best.
I see they added a sh*tty sticker 😂
Took the best vise add their name. Nothing wrong with that.
