You haven't heard what I have to say, yet you dismiss me as someone who hasn't played the game/speaks out of his ass. While ignorance is your right, assumption makes ass out of you and me. I admit, I didn't bring my point across in the first place quite clearly (Ok. none at all actually) but anyway.
Second of all: there's no denying how much different updates have changed Stellaris: point on being second hand knowledge how everything was great before LeGuin patch or how everything was great before free jumping was delegated to hyperlines (I wasn't there so I can't confirm or deny.)
The point what I try to make is that if espionage is so groundbreaking they can introduce it later.

I hope the system for passing laws and such in the Galactic community and Federations will be brought down for Internal politics. It would make a host of improvements if your factions could vote on issues within your Empire, and you had to either bribe them with policies they support, or override decisions with influence to pass what you want.
Alongside internal strife, and harmony, like protests, rebellions, social movements, festivals, and support rallys, it would make your Empire feel more alive and vastly improve internal management imo.
Honestly hope so. I'd rather internal politics than anything else thought if right now. Factions having levels and managing policies, while they vote on new laws. Maybe this would only be for player empires.
@@joeandrew8752 That would be cool. Multi-level factions? Like progressively larger issues, and higher political power?
@@davidk1308 something like that. What id like is faction levels with certain "resolutuons" locked behind certain levels and their approval for you. They could even do tge same vote in a senate that the new galactix comunity is doing. They level up based on support. So you have more reasons to pay attention to what they want. When you get an authoritarian faction or whatever that get to a high enough level that does not approve of you then you can have a rebellion or whatever. It seems doable at least.
Maybe you could support other empire factions etc. Update leader agendas to be more interesting and add some events that will help or harm a faction.
Even have non ethics factions like pirates / syndicate or rebel/ mercenaries if you want to get creative. With their own wants. Evil factions in your empire you have to suppress etc. The bigger you are the worse they get. So you can't just take over half the galaxy and by midgame feel bored since you don't need anymore planets.
This could help make different government types more unique and interesting. In dictatorships, they could disable this system, monarchies they could allow you to interfere with it by forcing a certain side to win or lose a vote at the cost of some faction opinion and influence, oligarchies you could spend influence to influence it, and democracies you could participate in the vote but not have more power than other factions aside from acting as the deciding vote in a tiebreaker situation (eg if votes tie your side wins).
Obviously this system could maybe be done better, but just thought it was a neat idea.
I would like to have about a dozen or more minor laws with minor effects that you can't vote on but sway it with influence. Like if a faction becomes strong enough, it will propose one of these laws and if they don't like you, they will propose a harmful one. Like happy militarists would propose a law regarding fleet size, something like +5% fleet capacity (or something else minor) for like +5% usage of consumer goods to make up for it. An unhappy faction could pass something like a martial law, which creates unhappiness for example. And different factions (since in the new update factions will become far stronger and more diverse than now) could have coalitions, like materialists being in favour of maybe militarist laws and directly opposing religious laws. Maybe 4 per faction, so about 24 and maybe some generic ones. Those could be also unlocked by the Galactic Community.

The republic won't be reformed into the first galactic empire
or will it?
Hey Vsauce, Michael here!
That's what romans thought.
I think the time there taking is solely for performance. Would be worried if they bought a performance update out quickly on a beast like Stellaris. Love the pop system but it really can make it chug, not to mention late game unit movements. Had a look in late game the AI fleet managers, literally hundreds of unused 'fleet designs'.
2.0 was supposed to make the game less lag. Doubt they can do anything to improve the situation the game basic design makes it laggy.
I gotta say I've loved watching your videos for ages now and you have a great voice! Thanks for all your Stellaris vids, I've always found the random things I learn from them amusing or just flat out cool. Keep up the good work man.
tfw there is no Galactic Church federation so you can't declare universal Jihad/Crusade on them xenofilth.
Because religions don’t tend to work well together, three empires based on three different religions, reli 1: I have the truth. Reli 2 : no I have the truth. Reli 3: you’re all wrong and that makes you heretics, Crusade!
TheNinthGeneration
Or, they could be the same religion. Spiritualist Empires already get along.
J2Dragon but that’s on earth with humanity, all god’s have similar claims of humans being #1 above all others because we are like the gods. Other religions would promote their species, thus you get a contradiction
@@TheNinthGenerarion You could easily headcannon it as a sort of "Church Convention" where they get together and create a universal religion, thus creating a "federation".
If a bunch of religious aliens got together and realized they had similar religions in a overall sense, dispite being seperated by light years, and also found out that they live in a galaxy of Materialist scum, its not inconceivable they could try and reconcile their faiths in the name of Pragmatism imo.
PipGang that could be possible over time
I kinda want there to be an option to succeed from a federation and have other members join you in a separatist movement... I want the Clone Wars damnit!
Really cant wait to get my hands on this expansion, the fact that it's clearly been delayed is super good also.
Something you seems to have missed, ASpec is that regular empires can fom Trade Leagues if they have the merchant guild civic. In a previous video you seem to have gotten this civic confused with the corporate dominion civic (which is only available if you don't own megacorps). But merchant guilds civic is available even to regular empires even if you own megacorp.
What would be neat for a trade league is being able to buy shares(diplomatic influence) that gives your votes greater weight.
Ok, time to reenact the star union for real now, about time 😍
I absolutely love your videos and I mean all of them Ive watched damn neaar all of them used to play on console back when it only had utopia dlc and now ive got everything on pc and xbox one and wouldve never gotten as far as i did without your videos
Very fancy. Where are the performance and AI improvements? Fixing the broken AI loadouts and behaviour all around?
Fix what you have, make the game work. The full PD AI fleet joke got old long ago.
I still really hope for a performance improvement released alongside Federations, but the feeling of Paradox being very freakin lazy in 2020 on Stellaris development has never been stronger
2020 is just beginning lol
While I love this game, there is a host of things i wish they would fix before adding any new stuff to the game. Don't think it's going to happen though.
@@robelmurph I'd like to know what you think should be fixed? As I agree there should be a lot more fixing, but the federations and diplomacy did need a bit of love though :)
@@teaser6089 Well, we can go with the most commonly talked about one's performance and AI. I also happen to think that factions still need some work. As they are a bit out of balance right now and can ruin some games.
@@robelmurph agreed, I'd like them to do that yes and more story would be nice, but the AI is so stupid, I'd also love that diplomacy would feel less liniar lol
This would of been lovely a couple of years ago but currently i'd just like to be able to play one...just one... Multiplayer game to completion with my buddy without the inevitable desyncs at the 2400+ year mark. Playing on smaller map sizes, graphic options etc does fanny all, no one should have to cripple their experience to extend play time.
Informative video as always Aspec, thanks.
I still want a special kind of hive mind empire that can allow non hive mind pops to live within it's territory. For it's flaws, the Origins system does seem ripe for that...
Just make the lastest video game hivemind exclusive. Everyone will be begging to become part of the Enclave.
Could you please make a series using the mod collection Stellaris Reborn, I would love to see a play through of it.

Every patch I start by trying to build a viable neo-feudal agrarian/peasant based space empire, every patch I fail. But, there will come a time when all pay homage to the king of space.
I mmean there's a federation for an empire with puppets, with the overlord being head of the federation
But that mean you would also have an idiot overly patriotic general / admiral who cannot even fight a war that he / she's starting and also led ruin to 2 other allied empires at the end lol
So are subjects vassals or protectorates and there is potential to use them to make a homemade federation?
Video about federations?
Release date soon to be announced for sure.
Might be an amateur question since I've only been playing for like 6 months or so on my X1, but what are the ship types at 02:46? And the weapon that they fire? The range must be over 200 or so?
I dont really understand why theres no way to merge the federation.
Probably because mechanically it would be difficult. In an MP game, how's that work if two players are in a Fed?
I guess it could be an SP-only feature like the End of the Cycle.
@@romulus2473 I dont think the end of the cycle is SP only. 2 People used it in the dev clash.
@@diobrando9685 Yeah thats what I was thinking. I dont see why the game couldn't just end for those nations who get sucked up to that one mega-empire or something similar.
That was probably modded. There are a bunch of mods that bring the End of The Cycle into MP
1) You have a whole economy that has a role in how we build and manage our fleets for war. Systems for resources, minerals and an energy, planets for more minerals and energy and then for alloys. Having a federation do basically the same thing as war all at the cost of influence removes an incentive to do war.
2) we all say the AI can't manage planets, so now imagine having to manage 20 to 30 more planets all at once.
3) the game would end for some people if this were a thing. Unless they build a system where 2 people can manage 1 empire.
Just some ideas. It's a cool idea but gameplay wise it's not so great.
I’m really curious as to where stellaris will go from Federations
Aspen, you fucking legend!
Nothing further. Move along, please.

So, I’ve encountered a scary situation. I downloaded the mod compilation on steam that has a whole bunch of stuff, and I got a relic called the Pandora’s box in 2240. It gave me 10 years till an end game crisis. It gave me the unbidden. They spawned on the other side of the map, next to a wormhole to my territory. My fleet power is 60k or so for 2 fleets. Each of thier fleets is 260k. And they just keep spawning. I am on easy, but the unbidden already started taking AI territory at a disturbingly fast rate. What are my chances of survival of having the Unbidden in the galaxy at 2250?

just a question ASpec, have you played Endless Space 2?
I have. Tried to play with Horatio, couldn't get into it.
i dont played yet, but all the factions are interesting, i would try all of them :) i even wanted to create Endless Space factions in Stellaris because why not, but there are a lot what you cant. Umbral Choir for example, you cannot play as psionic entities, dont even mension that they are an invisible empire. and you cannot create Vaulters because of Cherryh update... honestly, i prefer more the old Stellaris with the old resource and colony management mechanics without the Cherryh and Le Guine updates

I wish that it provided more influence over your federation members, as it currently stands you still have to brainwash people or hope for a natural ethics shift over time. For example a federation of peaceful xenophiles has one member thats a techno-militarist, in federations they could have given us tools to influence them into becoming less or more agressive
Why does only the leader get to control the Fed fleet? Shouldn't all members get their own Fed fleet? And the leader should get, say, 3 Fed fleets..?
I don't think it's fair that only one at a time gets to play with the strength of the federation that they're a part of.
Ofcourse religions and non-religous ones must be the core system and they should be able to open great wars to defend the religion , democracy etc. The others should be joining too even if you are not ally.
Oh, a League of Non-Aligned Worlds, "...get the hell out of our galaxy!"
