I love that you’re letting your son learn to do that- the smallest bit of damage can’t compare to the priceless lessons learned, confidence, work ethics and family camaraderie you’re building. Most parents set their kids in front of a screen. Great job! ❤
Thank you! I try to let him get the most and learn out of every experience, I’ve never been one to enjoy taking those learning experiences away from him.
Awesome Variety! Love the mahogany Obsidian ! ! ~ Pet Wood was a surprise! ~ But the Blue Opal is to die for ! ! ! ~ The nasty weather kept the competition away.. Thanks for sharing the experience..
Thanks for sharing that. Your little man is a one-man excavator, unstoppable digging machine, that's cool that he enjoys a good hobby. This earned you a new sub.
That's pretty cool! That's such a lovely deep blue and vibrant opal. Would love to get some! Looks like fun. Would be a nice trip and place to check out. 😊
That thing is amazing. Such a pretty blue too. Being in a rock club is awesome, especially when it gives you access to really nice claims like this. I would love if my club should do a claim swap with yours. We have a couple thundereggs claims.
Thanks for posting this video. Brings back some fun memories when I lived there. I had found a nice spot myself loaded with the same type of thunder eggs and blue opal. Amazing stuff and definitely has value! I was digging around marsing myself, I have a couple old videos of those eggs on my channel if your curious, subscribed!
So, I have a couple of spots for this material. What do you do with it? I brought a few chunks home but they just sit out in the back yard. They tend to crack and fade with sun exposure.
@IdahBros its like a pry bar at one end a chisel at the other end, mega durable, I've had one for 30 years and bought a new one just before I sadly had to retire due to bad knees. :(
just found your page. new subscriber. my 5 year old niece is a bit of a rock hound, would love to get a chuck from you for her as a present if you are willing to part with a piece
I would like to get some of that blue opal but I am in Missouri. Any chance I could buy a piece from you? I usually cut Australian opal but I would like to see how the blue comes out in a polished stone. Reply with an email address and we can talk. Thanks
We dont sell our rocks, we have been creating a large collection and would like to eventually start making jewelry and other cool items and starting a little side business
This is a lesson in parenthood. Patience, anxiety, encouragement, pride, frustration, teacher, love - you've done very well here.
Thanks for that comment!

Where was this again? My kids and i got into rock hunting and would love to check this out
This was on a claim out toward the Owyhee mountains. If you’re interested in getting access to contact Idaho Rocks & Gems and let them know I sent ya.
Great job getting that out buddy, don't listen to the comments, it's just a rock.

we keep ours in a bucket of water to avoid sun exposure and fading. Opaltends to dry out over time and crack because of its high water content.
were hoping to start cabbing and making jewelry with some in the future
Is there any fire i. Them or is it just blue posh
No fire in these ones but we have found some fire opal in a diff spot
that is most awesome....a GAD bar would be helpful for the kid.
Thanks for the advice I’m gonna check that out!
