- A Crazy Penny Box - Penny Hunt and Fill #146
This is part 146 of the series (Boxes 274-275) and I do plan on updating it from each penny box I hunt from this point forward until the penny coin collection is nearly completed! Also, we will be updating the Canadian Small Cents Albums going forward as well. I found so many old coins and error coins in this hunt which made it a blast!
Keep hunting and good luck! They're still out there for us to find!

I was hovering over the RUclips waiting for this brother..... ✌️
Love your videos rob! Not too long ago I found a 1909-S VDB
that green gunk reminds me of the coins that my friend gave me out of his cup holder in his car. he also stashed coins in his ash tray. years of splashing fluids, salt packets and Mc Donald's food residue have discolored every coin in and around the area.
Rob, back in the 60's some child played with most of your wheat cents and put them in 1960's playdough. I know this because I did it when I was young and when it dryed up there was light blueish green on the pennies like yours.
Blue-green is the color of copper nitrate and nitrite, so it is likely a patina/corrosion caused by being in water.
This would be the perfect time to start a "worst wheat cents" book!
Awesome wheat pennies hunt and album fill congratulations on getting 4lbs of copper pennies thanks for sharing Rob
That first box was so hot it reminded me of that 500 plus wheat penny box you got a while back. All I said in my brain when I watch this video was "wheat penny ender, wheat penny ender, wheat penny ender."
Nice hunt brother. My friends freak out when they see my 55 gallon can filled with copper pennies, and that doesn't include wheaties, I roll them. It's overwhelming how many pennies there are in existence. I went to a coin and stamp show were they dumped a pile on the floor for a take what you want game. That was from a dump truck. Freaking crazy.
Soon our Government will stop making Penny’s like Canada. Copper Penny’s, especially wheaties, will only go up in value.
@@billsinclair313 that will never happen because of Benjamin Franklin. The cent was the first coin minted in the New United States. It was a slap in King George's face and nicknamed the "penny" after the English penny. Pennies at one time were large cents like the English Penny. It will take an act of Congrees to eliminate it from current legal tender. This will eliminate the 99 cent business dollar. Never underestimate power of business.
@@williamfindspeople4341 I don’t think the mint even knows, so they keep producing Pennie’s at a loss.
What does it cost to produce pennies?
The U.S. Mint's most recent annual report showed that an estimated $85.4 million from penny production was lost by taxpayers (along with $33.5 million from producing nickels, which might be ceased as well.) As of 2021, it cost more than 2 cents to make one penny. In 2019, pennies accounted for over half (59 percent) of the 12 billion coins that the U.S. Mint manufactured that year.
There are pros and cons to eliminating pennies.
Groups that heavily oppose eliminating the use of pennies argue that American charities often rely on penny donations-people are the most willing to give pennies away. Some people also think that getting rid of the penny would create a 1-cent sales tax. Businesses would be able to implement this tax easily since many prices end in 99 cents.
Holy wheat finds Batman!!😮That was quite the hunt. Enjoyed it with you, thanks RFT 😀🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
Despite the wheaties not being in the best condition - that was an amazing box! You can't get mad at that! Another great video!
You got that right!
Nice 45-P! Looked like it was AU or XF45 at least, so was surprised that wasn't a swapper, but you must've had a good one in the book. And those shiny 60s, love finding those shiny Cu Memorials. Pretty cool to find that many wheats, even if a lot were on the rough side. Hunts I have done. I've tended to average 10 wheats/box, although I will say they get better in more rural areas, such as the ones I picked up in northern AR that time going to see a friend up in MI. After talking to Penny Hunter, I have got to get up to New England again. >>;=)
Top 10 Rob Finds Treasure videos, number 9
That's amazing finding all those wheat pennies in the first box. Great fun hunt. Can't wait for the next 👍
Good amount of wheaties Rob, congrats brother 👍
Wow Rob you got a wheat field !!! Great hunt as always! Happy Hunting, Stephen
Many Wheaties Rob!! Thank you!!
Great video! Starting to get into coin collecting with my son! Love searching through pocket change! Lots of errors/varieties to look for!
Really like that mat with the dates! Is that something you sell? Great Finds ! Keep looking for the 43 copper !
Yes it is: robfindstreasure.com/whats-for-sale/
i finally got on a great nickel box. 2 buffalos, 1 war, 3 semi-key dates (2 that i still needed), and a few ddr's in decent shape. oh and great video as always!
SWEET!
Found a few very clean whaet cents roll hunting recently.
But the biggest find was a nice condition 1903 IHP. How does something like that end up in a box?
Just found a 43D nickel! Also a gold plated nickel which was cool.
Good luck brother find them rare ones !!!!
I opened two loomis penny boxes the other day, and got 27 canadian cents out of them, 8 out of one roll too.
Wow! Good boxes and finds! Nice hunt, Rob🎉
Weird but fun hunt!! Love the hunt and fill videos!
Found 9 wheats in just 11 Loomis rolls yesterday. Mostly all 1950’s like yours but 1 1937 like yours too. 1957 Canadian too.
only Rob could find a 1909 d
HAHA!
stop spoiling it
@@yy19aos uhhhh ok
thank u
oh nvm it was a 1949. i commented this before i watched the vid
over 15 minutes, this should be fun!
Thanks for the video!
I’ve never had more than 2 wheat cents in a roll and that’s only been on 3 or 4 rolls. So yeah, that was an awesome start!
I feel like this box answers the question of whether the boxes are filled in long rows of ten or short rows of five.
Nice finds, even though they're not the prettiest. I know how you keep your wheat cents in rolls, do you just add these corroded ones to them? Or do you have a special storage for those?
Great hunt of a lot of wheat cents, but I wonder what happened to this lot of cents to be damaged that bad.
Been finding super low serial numbers at my work lately. A 100 hundred with four zeroes and a one with five.
Rob, just finished another box and the last roll yielded the 20th wheat cent of the box. 1912, slick, not sure.... First '12 I've found, either way it's just an S or it's not, it was def a nice score. My RFT penny mat has seen its day in the last 8 months, might need an upgrade. Can I send you a pic of the '12 to help me out? I see something, but then I don't. 🧐
Sure brother!
Wow! Shame most of the Wheaties were so damaged :(
I wonder if you plan to make the mat wider so you can fit all of the findable (1941 through 1958) pennies on it. You would only need to add two more slots.
It's been on my mind for sure.
Another great hunt👍
GOOD LUCK ROB!!
Nice hunt rob makes no difference that it's a 40s 50s dump it's still exiting
Congratulations on an amazing hunt.
Nice hunt brother 👍👍❤️
That first box has ash-tray collection dump wheats.
Fun hunt! Do you count the side finds and wheaties in your copper total?
No - just what's in the cup.
Still wanna know about the 1947 canadian cent with small maple leaf Rob! ???😊
Rob, do you ever check Coin Stars for steel cents? If so, and you did, would you add them to your album? Or, is it strictly coinroll hunting finds?
I do and I would. Been a bit since I checked the CoinStars - might need to get back on that!
@RobFindsTreasure YES!!! I hear you though. Typically, when I check, as of recently, there's nothing in the tray. More people are aware of what can be found now.
I know they say never clean your coins, so I don't, but is there any way to safely remove that blue-green gunk?
Yet another great hunt
Hey rob, do you count your 2009 cents? Thanks!
Rob, where can I get one of those Dansco folders?
Oh my
One of your better videos, that I liked. Well, what are you going to do with the kunk on them. Put them with your copper pennies. I know you will not answer, but that is ok with me.
I have a separate jar of corroded pennies - mostly metal detecting finds and I will add those to them.
Did this person store those wheats in a bucket of seawater? 🌊
Looked like it!
Thats a crazy box i went to the store and got 8 wheat cents as change
Banks here in Vermont will not let us buy boxes of penny's only5 dollars at a time
great hunt even though no fillers or upgrades here in Nova Scotia if I found 10 wheat cents after 100 rolls searched I would be happy not to mention that Canada stopped minting the penny last year was 2012
Found a 1903 Indian Head Penny in a customer roll. 😀
Definitely a collection dump.
What do you do with”keeper” pennies that have the green stuff on it? Is there a way to remove that without affecting the penny’s value otherwise?
someone cashed in the pennies from the wishing fountain me thinks
Nice hunt
Man that was a good hunt!
Fish tank collection dump?
🍎👍
What do you do with your copper Pennies (1959-1982)?
What if that was a 1959 D? Know where I'm going with this?
Hey can is ask your opinion on a penny I found? Am I able to send a pic?
My email in the ABOUT page on youtube.
What is the most wheat cents you ever found in a roll?
In a bank box, Rob had a hunt where 1/5 of the coins were wheaties. So I'm pretty sure there was probably one roll with at least 30.
✌️
Looks like a flood damage collection dump.
You should do a worlds ugliest wheat cent book like you do with dimes
👍😎👍
What year does Canada have the bird on the reverse ???
Hello

Hi Rob! I too am very close to completing my wheat penny book. I only need just over a dozen to go and one is in the 50's sadly... but I do have a VDB that I got from my grandma. All luck to you.
It's strange how there's often that one common date you just can't find. For me, it's the 1949 Philly. I found a full roll of Denvers and tons on their own, but no Phillies.
@@brendanschuett oh yea and can’t forget the D&S steelies too… we’ll get there eventually though!
@@EXPLODINGCLICK Good luck! I found a steelie denver, the only steelie I've found from roll hunting.
