- The cornerstone of the most dominant offensive line of the early 2000s, Walter Jones paved the way for the elite Seahawks Offense for more than a decade. Perhaps the most athletic Tackle to ever play the game, he devastated opponents with his aggressive downfield blocking and consistent, technically sound pass protection. His most illustrious season was 2005 when he blocked for MVP RB Shaun Alexander and lead Seattle to Super Bowl 40.

Imagine Lynch running behind this dude.. every play would be a first down or a TD.
At least 3 Super Bowl won and I won every hawks game money 🤣
Duane Brown does this man proud.
Pete would still throw at the one
Hutchinson played right next to him too.
Imagine Wilson AND Lynch in their prime behind both Jones and Hutchinson, I know exactly where I’m going
One of the best NFL players of all time IMHO. 180 games, on 5500 pass attempts he allowed.......23 sacks.....unreal.
He was simply amazing not only did he only give up 23 sacks his entire career he was only penalized 9 times as well which shows how dominant of a player Walter Jones was
3:33 LOL he literally made that guy disappear.
I'm shocked they didn't throw a flag for excessive block LMAO
who else here from barry’s video ?
McCockiner FTW
Greatest tackle to ever play the game. With all due respect to Anothony Munoz
What about pace, Ogden,boselii, Thomas
Chillax Jon Ogden was better IMO
@@mvalovalo Walter has better feet, hand placement, and is way more physical
I’ve been a Seahawks fan since day one in ‘76, I love Walter but I’d have to put Jackie Slater at number one. He did this for 20 seasons. TWENTY years.
Jackie Slater and I'm a Seahawks fan since birth. NO ONE was better at that position than Jackie Slater.
There have been a handful of top-tier LT's in NFL history! Munoz, Slater, Ogden, Shell, etc. Walter Jones to me has no weaknesses! And his footwork is absolutely sick! 9 penalties his whole career! What a player!
Big Walt is literally one of the best people I know. Always a great friend and a great person in his community.
Man, this guy had the most fluid and natural footwork of any LT I've ever seen. His power just complemented everything else. Best left tackle I ever saw play.
Growing there were two teams I especially hated playing as a Falcons fan. The Seahawks and the Chiefs. Walter Jones and Willie Roaf probably still give Patrick Kerney nightmares,
There's another gent I must give all due respect to. Well, two, actually, but I was speaking of Roaf.
Shaun Alexander owes his career to Walt
2:33 work of art to see a man that size and be that light on his feet
When you consider the greatest football players of all time, when Payton Manning was at the prime of his powers PFF rated Walter Jones the best player regardless of position .
the more one researches Walter Jones, the more legendary he becomes. truly, one the NFL's all time greatest players
-DAMN! Even DWIGHT FREENEY couldn’t get around him! And Dwight Freeney (93 Colts) got around EVERYBODY with that spin move... except Walter Jones. LOL!
Yeah. I saw that and thought "DAAAAANG!"
as a Colts fan
that's a baaad maaan right there, Walter Jones.
If Dwight couldn't pass him, no one else could
That was the only play in this video that looked like it could have been a hold
Wow, thanks for this! For being arguably the best left tackle (blindside) of all time, very little tributes for Walter. I get it....offensive tackle highlights are boring when they do their job unless they pancake someone. I’d like to see a vid on what made home so dominant. Yes speed strength is obvious but almost a step by step vid of what separates him from others. It would be interesting
OMG that play against Carolina where he erased a dude back 15 yards
That was a pro bowler that year too if I recall.
@@AirNikeNick23Mike Rucker, probowler that year.
Walter Jones is one of the greatest offensive tackles of all time history of the franchise. He also retired as a Seattle Seahawks!!
By far the greatest tackle in franchise history, maybe the greatest player in franchise history and maybe the greatest tackle in league history.
Yo holy crap this is really good, u should make more
BEST OVERALL PLAYER IN SEAHAWKS HISTORY
1:42 just a savage haha.
Technique, technique, technique, the great Walter Jones was not only physically imposing he had outstanding technique at the left tackle position, one of the most technically sound offensive tackles ever to play the position
the only way the nfl could stop this guy is if they added a roughing the defender flag
That's fucking great, man. Cheers
I watched the The Atlanta Falcons/ Seattle Seahawks game when the great left tackle Walter Jones owned Atlanta Falcons pass rusher Patrick Kearney. Kearney didn’t return to the field in the 4th quarter.
Love’em oline highlights!!!
Matt Hasselbeck basically never had to worry about his blind side for almost his entire career. Dude was a brick wall and also a battering ram for a run blocker.
Not sure which is my favorite - bulldozing a lineman into the next time zone or the casual 1-arm pancake on the DB
Jones evidently thought blocking a man for 40 yards was a 40 yard dash.
When us mere mortals speak about him we should say "Mister Jones". We're not worthy.
1:28 drove his ass into the end zone lmao
Basically used him like a lawnmower.
FACT of : Walter Jones
9 TIME PRO BOWLER
8 TIMES ONLY CALLED FOR HOLDING.
Actually he was called for 9 times but you pretty much got it
And they missed one on Freeney in this video haha
Greatest Offensive tackle of all time
Joe Jacoby, Jim Lachey, Jonathon Ogden, Jackie Slater, Tony Boselli, Howard Ballard, Larry Allen, Gary Zimmerman and Walter Jones were the greatest.
Larry Allen is a guard
Amazing how he didn't panic if a rusher got deep in the backfield, and he would use their momentum against them and give Hasselbeck total clearance with one good push. Matt probably got used to not having to worry at all about his blind side.
Marcellus Wiley sent me here, Walter was a BEAST, Wiley said he just laughed at him.
Forgot how much fun it was watching him pancake defensive linemen.
When I played in high school he was my mentor
Just curious, what was his approach? What did he teach you was important?
Massive stack of pancakes right there
Walter jones and Jonathan ogden were beast
When a Tackle can bully the great Michael Strahan with a broken hand and a sprained knee and NO TE help in blocking. The man's a MONSTER. And that man is Walter Jones
My dream o line
RT- anthony Munoz
RG-Larry allen

Welcome to IHOP aka Walter Jones
there are 20x more highlights than this i use to key in on him and there are tons of pancakes you could've shown and didn't probably like 5 or 6 a game
Beast
One of the best to ever play football
That's crazy! I've never seen a guy who could stand there and just use his arms to push people to the ground like that. It looked like he had super human strength.
impressive
you could probably show 20minutes or more of him destroying dudes
Ya, folks don't know but Walter never had to show up for off-season workouts.just call em when u need em.true story
This is the best video on RUclips
🐐
The greatest OT ever
Mastodon!
Damn it would be cool if our entire o line was 1% of this guy
I’ve never seen a left tackle as dominant as this
I’m
Hes my cousin
Ur kinfolk was a fool on that field
He had the biggest head I ever saw in the NFL. Just like boxing gloves looking like mittens on boxer George Foreman's monstrous hands, Walter Jones helmet looked like a swimmers cap. The both had massive bones. Cheers
