This is so me. I fear a lot in my final year in uni, when the prof corrects me on my project i feel like am wrong i need to stop the whole project. I keep procrastinating. Anytime I think of being kind to myself im like no thats entertaining mediocrity. But yes here iam choosing to be kind to myself from now onwards. I choose to face truth and extend kindness to others
The diagnosis you have given all through can be summarised in one thing: humility. Being humble enough to admit you do not know; you need to learn (and unlearn) more; you will not always have it figured out and that you might have some dysfunctional traits that would be uncomfortable dealing with. That is why Christianity is so powerful because not only does it absolutely deal with this shame (whose root is pride) but also empowers us to overcome all these things. A key tendency to fear of failure is being a consistent procrastinator; there's always an obsession of 'figuring it all out' before choosing to start-perfectionism, in a nutshell. Amazing that despite all this ☝🏽 I still struggle a lot with both the fear of failure and the fear of commitment.
