- This is a video on my very first ever chess board set that I have made. It is affixed inside a black backlit 12x12 wooden box, that has color changing led lights with a remote. This was done before Christmas but because it was a gift I couldn't post the video until now. The template I used for this board was not a silicone mold, I used a template from Pour Away Fluid Arts. Hi this mold is amazing. Did you say you made it from a template?? I've bought three molds now and all three are chinese junk. Thanks for the video I am watching video's before trying once again just wish I had a good mold. Very pretty board.
@@U2cantrustme yes its not a mold. Its a template that I put on a clear piece of acrylic. Here is the link from where I got it.

Hi Mary, My name is Kimberly. I live in Ut. I have only been doing resin for about a month or so. I'm not very good at it, but I'm working on it, lol. Anyway, I want to make a chess board for my grandson, and I was thinking about camouflage cause he likes to hunt. I don't know if that is even possible, but I thought you would be the person to ask. I really like how you think outside the box. I don't know, maybe with a alcohol ink or oh hell, I don't know if you have an idea, maybe you could do a video.

U didn’t show the part where u added the gold lines in, did u just use a chrome pen or did u fill it in with a needle tip bottle & gold pigment? Thanks for the video, been researching a bunch to make one as a gift for my friend but I was concerned that the squares could be uneven since ur guesstimating how much resin each one holds. Did u do a top coat so it’s all one smooth surface?😊
In the begining of the video I explained that I didnt use a mold, I used a template from a company called Pour Away Fluid Arts, its linked in my decription box. Its already a good color. You adhere it to a acrylic blank. Check out their website, its so easy and it makes it so much easier to full the squares. Plus its solid when u start pouring because the template is cured to the blank. I love their templates. Hope this helps. Yes I did a top coat once it was completly cured.

That turned out beautiful! You poured it perfectly, especially the chess pieces. It seems like it could be difficult to pour it right up to the base portion since resin can drastically shrink. I can’t remember what resin you are using, is it Unicone? That’s what I’ve been using, it’s great as long as I put it in a warm bath first. I got all my Dragon notebook covers done for our Grandkids. I remembered to photograph them😊 They turned out great. It was a much bigger project than I anticipated. I bought 2 mold sets so I could do them quicker. I ordered the second mold set later from a different seller. Unfortunately that mold set came with a back cover mold that wasn’t the same size as the front cover mold! I poured it before I realized that. I was so irritated! I went back and checked and it shows that the measurements are actually different. I didn’t catch that when I ordered it, it never occurred to me that it would be different.🙄 It makes no logical sense why they would make it that way. It looked terribly wonky. It also threw a major wrench into my ‘get em done quicker plan’ since I only had 1 back cover mold for all 4 sets. I’m subscribed to Pour Away too. I haven’t ordered anything from them yet but, it looks like it’d be really fun to try. Thanks for another enjoyable video!❤

I had so many things I wanted to get done and posted, but we ended up having an out of town funeral because my husbands aunt passed away so that kind of put a hault to things, but I have lots planned for the new year. Do you have video how do you put lights in?
No, All I did was use led strip lights and I just put them all around the inside of the box. I drilled a hole in box to feed them through so there wouldn't be a hindrance putting the back on. That's it.
