That was super interesting - thank you! I'm not a dental student, just a person with great interest in oral hygiene. I understood the basic processes of plaque formation, but not the detailed microbiology.
Thanks so much for the feedback. Glad you liked it :)
I’m wondering how much of this process is analogous to what occurs in Alzheimer’s disease. Does anyone have any insights?

I've reduced my intake of anything with a lot of sugar and only drink water and I really hope that has completely reduced the calculus on my bottom teeth when I go back to my dentist in February.

Some advantages of salt water mouth rise
1.) Clears mucous membrane
2.) Soothes mouth sores
3.) Helps maintain an alkaline environment (PH >=7) { This also means that we must avoid acidic drinks which drop the PH level below 7)

Subtitle in portuguese, please 🙏
Hi Karoline Grando, we would be happy if you could help contribute towards Portugese translations...
@@HackDentistry of course, how can I help?
Hi Karoline Grando, just below the video next to the like, dislike and share options, you have a "three horizontal dots" option. Clicking the "three horizontal dots" option will open up a menu with three options, with one of them being "Add Translations". Click this option and contribute subtitles in your preferred language.
The question which I have had all my life is why have our science not developed, and seems to have no interest in developing, the technology needed to either neutralize all demineralization acids deposited on our teeth or developing the methodology to eradicate the bacteria which secret the acid that demineralization our teeth.
It reminds me of all the work claimed to have been done for 7 decades to find cures for cancer where the only real benefits achieved seems to have been in the pocket books of those who try to tell us they are working to cure our health problems. Disappointing.....
I suspect there is a cure for cancer and dental plaque. If it was put into practice then just think about how we wouldn't need doctors and dentists so much.
TOOTH PASTE NEEDS TO BE ANTIBIOFILM, ANTI-FUNGAL, AND Anti bacterial.
:)
Didn't knew APU was also a dentist
