I have all three series on DVD. Wish there was more anime with powerful music and storytelling today. It is really a shame that they tend to cater to the lowest common denominator nowadays. Thankfully the classics will never die and not everything today is total crap.

Back then anime was somewhat different to today's stuff that are produced. Lately there are shows that concentrate on specific elements (moe, fanservice, slice of life). It's not bad, but sometimes the execution of such shows are painful. Outlaw Star belongs to the type of anime that has the above things as extras that are build around a awesome plot filled with action and badassery. Well, even among today's productions there are series that are actually nice and not simply built around things such as fanservice and have said things as extra, but they are a minority. Today however it's changing. Pity the manga will never be translated...and yes, it started as a manga.

From the name, I thought Outlaw Star would be an overwrought drama about a rebelling star system. And then I watched Episode 5, after I let curiosity get the better of me. BOY WAS I WRONG! Which is why Outlaw Star is one of my favorite series even now. It's just FUN.

This was one of my favorite animes that aired on Toonami when I was younger and now I'm 27 years old and it's still one ofmy favorite animes and I have a lot of favorite animes, most of which were aired on Toonami.

I remember this show from when I would get home after school from 1st-4th grade... EVERY DAY. Sit less than 6in away from the 1ft CRT Bubble T.V. and couldn't wait until the Next episode! ohhhhhhh man... To be young and know nothing but what is directly in front of you.... I miss it!! :*(
Absolutely love this song and series. I rented way back in 90’s and I wasn’t impressed enough to buy it or rent it again. A year ago I decided to buy it on a whim. I can’t go a week without looking at an episode👍🏿😍

This was the first anime soundtrack I ever bought. I saw a PREVIEW of the show and went to the next room, got on the computer, and ordered it immediately. One of my favorite anime soundtracks and favorite anime EVER! Very original and very fun! Them TOONAMI memories...

What helps me remember Outlaw Star was the outro theme Hiru no Tsuki and fragments of the opening theme. I should watch the series again since I enjoyed the show as a child.
I wasn't even born when it came out and my older sister had the series on CD. so when I was like 10 or around there I would steal the CDs from her and watch it.
A must watch show man I can see why its classic Toonami 90s badassery. When I watched Toonami as a kid I only remember a few shows and never saw it When i really started getting into anime a few years ago i saw the broken promises promo on facebook and had to check it out glad I did.

I loved this show as a kid. It was one of the premier shows aired on the "adult" spin-off channel of Cartoon Network, CNX. I immediately fell in love with it. It's been well over a decade since the show and the chalnnel stopped airing and not once have I seen any DVD's for it on the shelves. Just more High School Musical and Michael Bay Transformers movies. There's no justice.

It has space ships fighting hand to hand with giant knives in their shuttle arms. It's like the bizarre love child of mecha and redline.

Absolutely love this song and series. I rented way back in 90’s and I wasn’t impressed enough to buy it or rent it again. A year ago I decided to buy it on a whim. I can’t go a week without looking at an episode👍🏿😍
This was the first anime soundtrack I ever bought. I saw a PREVIEW of the show and went to the next room, got on the computer, and ordered it immediately. One of my favorite anime soundtracks and favorite anime EVER! Very original and very fun! Them TOONAMI memories...

My cousin showed me this series fifteen some odd years ago, and i keep coming back to it. Its in my top three and my favorite space series.
The year was 2001 and that was when this show first came on Cartoon Network. I turned that TV full blast head-banging to this theme. Memories

What helps me remember Outlaw Star was the outro theme Hiru no Tsuki and fragments of the opening theme. I should watch the series again since I enjoyed the show as a child.

I wasn't even born when it came out and my older sister had the series on CD. so when I was like 10 or around there I would steal the CDs from her and watch it.
This tune has had my heart since I could watch Toonarmi and it still has. One on the best opening ost out there.
A must watch show man I can see why its classic Toonami 90s badassery. When I watched Toonami as a kid I only remember a few shows and never saw it When i really started getting into anime a few years ago i saw the broken promises promo on facebook and had to check it out glad I did.

yeah despite being very grounded in reality it's clear certain aspects of their tech are hyper advanced, since they were able to build hyperspace gates sometime in, what, the 2010s? and then manage to successfully colonize space.. and Faye was able to be cryogenically preserved in the 1980s right? or maybe 90s..

Eh. Try going on Google and looking for comic book/anime shops in your area. I did just a little while ago, and the merch was rediculously cheap. Hell, there might also be thrift shops in your town that have anime-related stuff. I wouldn't put it past them. ;)

Marko G ??? WHat is your definition of an era. Outlaw Star ran in 98, FMA began in 01. the latest of those was Avatar which started in 05. Which was nearly a decade ago. I wouldn't consider any of the ones you mentioned "This Era". I agree with your point that there's still some good stuff, but those examples are a little dated to be called current.

Flying down an empty highway going way too fast in my old pickup, on my way to work at like 11:45 at night while blasting Tank! is still one of the highlights of my work-week.
I loved this show as a kid.
It was one of the premier shows aired on the "adult" spin-off channel of Cartoon Network, CNX.
I immediately fell in love with it.
It's been well over a decade since the show and the chalnnel stopped airing and not once have I seen any DVD's for it on the shelves.
Just more High School Musical and Michael Bay Transformers movies.
