It’s midtown manhattan. Sometimes there is nowhere to move your car. I’ve seen entire columns of cars blasting horns to then proceed thru an intersection against the light because FDNY is a full block behind them and there are like 20 cars on a one way that have to blow the light. Manhattan is tight and it gets a little bonkers. Fortunately nobody can drive very fast in manhattan.

Seems to me in a CITY with MILLIONS of people and a rig that has already suffered TWO accidents responding to fires the more noise the better ... In Austria I am sure you may not need them, but over here we do ... Heaven? Yes ... I LOVE the sound of those air horns ... You don't have to like them if you don't want, makes no difference to me ... :o)

I'm from the UK and there's something about American and especially NY fire trucks, sirens and horns that fills me with awe and excitement :)

UK fire trucks are big as well, just not as big as American ones. The sirens are also loud and the horns are really similar to most American ones, well where im from anyway

Good god, if i used my air horn half as much as they did, i would soon run out of brake air. Must have ultra super heavy duty compressors to keep up with the brakes and the air horn usage, that and or massive air tanks!

Everything...and I mean EVERYTHING about FDNY trucks is heavy duty. If you've ever looked at them in person and are familiar with typical fire apparatus construction you can quickly see that it's all specified for the most severe service.
Yeah they have several very heavy duty compressors
Wish tractor trucks have that kind of ferocity of air horn. More intimidating.
@@Gohan_Fanboi our work trucks have those crappy stock Freightliner horns. My old company had a couple with Hadley’s. No comparison.

Great video John! In every FD there are the virtuosos of the horn and siren! The FDNY really loves to lay it on heavy and I love it! I don't know how they manage to get to as many scenes as they do so quickly! I wouldn't want one behind me for sure! I think there is a music video possible using those horns and some classical or classic rock song! Hmmmmmm take care John!
