Worked well for Aussie Steve McKenna as he is in the top 50 having mainly done full Ironmans in Australia

TBH it doesn't matter what we think. It kind of also doesn't matter what you think will give you the best chance. You should consider: 1) what do you want to achieve and 2) what do you want to do. I race 70.3 and I can't even comprehend doing a full distance right now, even if that meant I'd be "better" at it. So, in my opinion, race the distance you enjoy more, and then pick the races that will contribute to what you want to achieve the most. My 2 cents, since you asked

I think it's strategically a good move. Ironman pro money is more biased for full distance races as well I suppose? Then it's a double whammy.

I think it’s a good decision. But I might be biased because it would great to see you smash it here in SA!

Probably a good move tbh and good timing, there's loads of athletes that won't fancy another 4 years of WTCS, being underpaid and lacking sponsorship in arguably the most competitive field in triathlon. Instead why wouldn't they move up to 70.3 or the t100 where their skills will translate and there are more opportunities? I like short course but there's way more opportunities for those athletes in long course.
Will you be doing IW Wales?

Yu have it correct, Hatden Wild was running 3:10/km for first 10km, then decided to slow done a tad and just cruise in for the win! Woohoo! Great call in realization of your current and likely ultimate fitness that will only get you so far in PTO ranking, I believe you will crack top 80 in 2024!!! Woohoo! GG! What is your recommendation for those/that sweet ass aero bars you have? GG!

Good call Larry in choosing 140.6, now just put in the volume over the next three years and you will have a chance to podium about 4 years from now! GG!

for the 2nd part of the year the olympians will surely stepup, some of them as wild cards to pto, not necessarily 70.3.
i think you should go for ironman pro series events. yes, they are going to be competitive but falling back out if these 2 pro series you cant really say you re competing with the best.

wouldn't it be better to focus on 70.3's early in the season ( before olympics) to build speed and than focus on full distance second half of season. This way you can have it both ways?

Best is probably what you enjoy most😊 personally I think Ironman distance will never be able to generate public interest like most ultra events and will lose even more significance soon. Also imho athletes are not gonna be very marketable and interesting for sponsors who train for 361 days a year and have 4 races a year.. Imagine a football club having 4 matches a year or a cyclist racing on 4 days a year, probably not gonna have a huge fanbase😅 imho that's something triathlon still gets completely wrong in the professional part of it

Hmm. Bold goals. Top 50 PTO ranking by the end of the year focusing on Ironman racing. Using Cam Wurf as a benchmark (who finished 2023 ranked 52nd with a 78 PTO points average), that would equate to having to finish on the podium in two ironman races and go top 15 in Kona. Get on it!

Regardless, I'm sure you'd like it to. I don't mean to be combative, been watching your videos for a while and I agree with your notion 100%.
I think you are bang on the money, after the summer there will be a few athletes entering the scene and dominating.
I still think it was poor form but I guess, as you put it, you don't care about our opinions.

He didn't acrually say he doesn't care about our opinions. He quite rightly, in my opinion, is asking for our comments, not our permission. Why should he base his career on our decisions?

Sorry but you’re not good at Ironman. A hybrid approach would be better so you don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. You need to do what will make you more money but at the end of the day this is your chosen proffesion.
