  • Why do we sing Happy Birthday on the note we do? What is this note, and why is it so eerily familiar?

    1:10... they do not "vibrate as the square" since 60 squared is 3600. You are referring to the first harmonic, which is at 120hz.
    ... not really the harmonic, though, because the light is cycling from full on to off in half the wavelength (to the point where the voltage is zero) then through on to off again for the second half of the 60Hz wave. Thus, two on off cycles for each wave. There's your 120 Hz buzz which drove me crazy as an undergrad.
    Upvoted for being a clever and well produced video. ... not sure how they came up with the song before flourescent lights, but fun video. :)
