We all can see that this is his solo debut, but the initial comment doesn't mention whether it's a solo debut or not. Just letting the op know that he was on jimmy Fallon just in case he missed it.

      @@DubsMood Yeah vocals are way too far back. I think they're definitely built to SIT in the mix and not be front and center like most modern pop but the live sound makes it sit too far back to the point where you are kind of straining to hear anything he says.

      It's definitely reproducible, he's often running a very simple pedal board. The main thing that accomplishes the sound is running the guitar through an old 4-track mixer. I love his sound but there isn't some otherworldly 'organic' source - just some really smart equipment choices! :)

      I'm in the same boat. I saw him live twice some years back. My introduction to him was on stage. I was impressed. His style was reminiscent of 70s and 80s but it's changed and has a very unique sound now. While I admittedly like the old sound, the new sound is something I'm adapting to, but I do admire the band trying something different.

    I've not seen anyone comment (although I may have misssed it) but there are echoes of certain 1975 songs in his music particulaly How To Draw/ Petrichor, The Ballad Of Me And My Brain, Lostmyhead, I Like it When you Sleep and 12. That said Mk.gee's embrace of technology combined with his musicianship takes it a step further.

    He gives me D'Angelo on his Voodoo album vibes. Sometimes he mumbles or he just out right cut lyrics off and let the music finish.
    His sound is grounded yet not tethered to reality.
    Buddy is beastly.

    Somehow only heard this album for the first in the airport 4 days ago on my way to a stag do. Spent the entire trip listening and crying next to the pool. This man is a genius. Let's give a couple flowers to How To Dress Well along with the Phil Collins and Prince love.
