For decent raw rattan sticks and staffs with the skin on you can't beat Frank' Cane and Rush. You can beat the heck out of them, tape 'em up and smash 'em some more. And at less than $5 bucks for a standard baston/olisi (they list them as "rattan poles") that's a great deal. Been buying their stuff for years.
Yes, forgot about Frank's. Another great place to get rattan! We used to buy their 9 foot poles and just cut them down to the desired lengths. Good quality rattan sticks for cheap!
Making you own is actually interesting 💯
We've played with dowel rods, broom handles in the past, but they usually broke after a few hard sessions.
Appreciate the free resources for rookies.
Anyway we can help get people interested, from training, to gear or finding a teacher that fits them.
I made my own stick from pine brush...24 inches..light and durable so far 💯
We all gotta make do with what we have. Word in Negros Occidental area of the Philippines is that rattan is endangered due to over harvesting and improper harvesting.
I'm carving my own with the theme/ name heaven and earth...
yes and not to mention kamagong is heavier so even if the guy is better then you you can just muscle threw it
great info def will sub
Great informative video, guys!
Do u recommend any affordable bahi sticks for home defense? Would u recommend aluminum versions for home defense as well?
Hey Ricky, it's hard to find something "affordable" nowadays with everything going up in price including shipping. It's kind of like you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. For us personally, you want to make sure bahi doesn't have any flaws like cracks or dents. Like any hard wood, they will break you hit something hard enough. But any bahi will do at this point. Aluminum pipes are good as well, but in the end it's all how you use the tool.
@@FMAPulse Gotcha, thank u so much! Any websites you recommend me checking out for bahi sticks? Won't buy right away, lol but maybe in the future
@@RickyS08have you checked the video description? There are some links in there
I made my own out of a cedar tree but purchased official sticks
Healthy pine 💯
WHERE TO PURCHASE KAMAGONG AND MAGKONO ARNIS STICKS?
I'M FROM WHERE ARNIS STARTED OR AT LEAST POPULARIZED BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN PLACES THAT SELLS KAMAGONG, MAGKONO AND NARRA ARNIS STICKS.
Good question. We haven't seen a kamagong retail seller in a while. We've heard that kamagong is endangered and is in limited supply at the moment. If you're lucky you can find them online on either Amazon or eBay. But the hardwood sticks are hard to come by nowadays, and if you do, they are expensive.
Make one. You'll be covered in knife cuts but know that weapon as a child is known
Facebook marketplace..used equipment local 💯
We've seen some of those posts as well. Just have to aware of the condition and quality of equipment being sold.
As a novice in arnis i want to ask only in home defense what is the best durability bahi or magkuno (iron wood) thank you
Currently with the whole cargo shipping crises, it's difficult to get the hard wood such as bahi, magkuno or kamagong. Also, a lot of these woods are endangered because of over harvesting. If you can find it, it's hard to tell if it's going to be quality because some will not be straight/warped or cracked. In the USA, we've seen them online for $50.00 to $120.00. But again we don't know the quality.
Love bahi and tumulin rattan!
We like bahi and kamagong for building grip strength and self defense. Rattan is for partner training and safety.
@@FMAPulse true!
where do you mount the scope?
Most of my students now train with Calcutta bamboo. Check our website:

I bought two rattan sticks and a wood bo for 25
That's actually a good price. With the importing and shipping fees nowadays, it would be double or triple that price.
Pugay.
Salmat.
