To see the lake with perfect reflection, you need to get up really early ( sunrise). By that time, it has no wind at all. I stayed 1 night in the village so came back the next morning.

Wow, Fox Glacier, when I went it was nearly down to the bottom, gone along way back up now. Seems miles away now.

I visited Franz Joseph and took a helicopter flight up on to the Glacier, misty low cloud day, flew up through the cloud to brilliant clear sky above the cloud, landing on
the Glacier, something maybe you do only once in a lifetime, highly recommended.
That sounds like an absolutely amazing experience 🤗
My family and I visited the Franz Joseph and the Fox glacier in 1987 and we actually hiked right up to the glacier face, of the Franz Joseph, there warning signs everywhere not to get to close to it due to falling ice...maybe it was the wrong choice to go the Fox?
I don't know what the Franz Joseph glacier hike is like now....but awesome vid.

Aaahhh, such a beautiful part of NZ. Did you see the Kea birds? When we were there last year, they were everywhere.
We saw a total of 2 Kea birds, on our way to Milford Sound 🙈 Thought we'd see way more!
