Actually, the trick is to slow down BEFORE taking the curve or turn. Braking and turning the wheel at the same time in snowy conditions often demands too much precious traction that you don't have from the inadequate all season tires, wich everyone in this video seemed to have.
When I drove home from college two years ago (before COVID lockdown), like 30-40 minutes drive while snowing, my car hits icy marks on the highway and spinning off the highway! I got stuck on the snow and grass for approximately 45 minutes until the gentleman finally came to my spot and towed off the snow!
Seems like the first storm always catches people off guard. Also in many places it can go from sunny and 80, to rain/ice and freezing in the same day. Kinda hard to prepare for that actually.
I live in Alberta and most drivers don’t know how to drive in winter. We had a dump of snow in September this year and everyone’s driving speed limit and tailgating people. No wonder there are so many crashes. 🙄🙄 like honestly. We should all just drive slow and don’t endanger each other.
Watching folks in overpriced, jacked-up, embarrassing trucks and crappy crossovers realize their vehicle doesn't protect them from the weather is always fairly entertaining.
Nothing protects from ice. I drive a 4x4 pickup that treats me very well in the snow. But doesn’t do anything on ice. If you don’t know the difference, don’t drive. At all. Even in summer.
Not worthwhile in St Louis. It doesn't snow/sleet that often to justify the two sets of tires. You can have days like on December 26, 2019 when it was 71 degrees out. All weather tires are all you really need and just to go the appropriate speed.
1:40 - Do not exit your vehicle when there are still cars crashing behind you. That's how you get killed. Same person is still standing on the side of the freeway at 3:58 when the tanker is drifting, great trucker by the way.
It isn't anyone else's responsibility to make individuals aware of anything other than the general public notices that are published. It is the individuals responsibility to check for problems. www.weather.gov is where virtually all commercial weather forecasts actually originate, so it makes sense to stay informed from them. One of the benefits of a manual transmission: I can downshift to slow down instead of just slamming on the brakes 😉
Winter and Christmas are my favorite time of the year
I am so ready for the new season, sitting at home of course.
Bad driving habits in summer = close calls in winter
Seems like the first storm always catches people off guard. Also in many places it can go from sunny and 80, to rain/ice and freezing in the same day. Kinda hard to prepare for that actually.
I live in Alberta and most drivers don’t know how to drive in winter. We had a dump of snow in September this year and everyone’s driving speed limit and tailgating people. No wonder there are so many crashes. 🙄🙄 like honestly. We should all just drive slow and don’t endanger each other.
Agreed. Most drivers seem to have 0 awareness when on the road
Who knew icy roads would be slippy....
Eye opening. Great instruction. A youtube clip is worth a thousand words.
Benny Hill’s theme song would go wonderfully with all these wipeouts 👍
If i only had one car and it was expensive, there's no way i'm driving it in these conditions.
Dont lock up ur brakes!!! U can still control vehicle better with wheels moving than locked up
Watching folks in overpriced, jacked-up, embarrassing trucks and crappy crossovers realize their vehicle doesn't protect them from the weather is always fairly entertaining.
Very true!
I drive a mustang I’m not going anywhere if it snows at all
I don't know about that.
The GMC pickup at the end pulled that semi up hill. 🤔
Someone sounds jealous😂
Nothing protects from ice. I drive a 4x4 pickup that treats me very well in the snow. But doesn’t do anything on ice. If you don’t know the difference, don’t drive. At all. Even in summer.
Everyone wants autonomous cars and trucks, but no one has seen how they navigate snow and black ice yet. That's the footage we need.
So what hobbies do you have? Well I like recording people crash on freeways from a distance it’s very satisfying
Most of were simply caused by people driving too fast for road conditions
or got the wrong tires on
True
Or being stupid and stepping on the brakes.
Or locked up the brakes
Not really they are driving pretty slow yes i drive way faster in the snow of course im used to it cause im finnish but still
This is why I always avoid the interstate in conditions like this.
My good ole' hometown. The more downtown you get, the faster the driving.
Same.
Good job to the guys towing the tanker.....I'm impressed 👍
Love how most of these are in Missouri and can attest we don't either do well driving/or just say no when it gets icy.
This is what it looks like when you don’t have winter tires but still try driving in the winter 🥶
Not worthwhile in St Louis. It doesn't snow/sleet that often to justify the two sets of tires. You can have days like on December 26, 2019 when it was 71 degrees out. All weather tires are all you really need and just to go the appropriate speed.
Absolutely amazing that wherever these people set up their cameras, accidents happen. Coincidence??? ;)
1:40 - Do not exit your vehicle when there are still cars crashing behind you. That's how you get killed. Same person is still standing on the side of the freeway at 3:58 when the tanker is drifting, great trucker by the way.
Loved the lil pick ‘em up was pullin’ that big rig!
Posting this can save lives
Very educational
Hmm it's the "why didn't you warn them" time of year
It isn't anyone else's responsibility to make individuals aware of anything other than the general public notices that are published. It is the individuals responsibility to check for problems. www.weather.gov is where virtually all commercial weather forecasts actually originate, so it makes sense to stay informed from them. They have an enormous web site loaded with information. Browse around to become familiar before you need it. The government also continuously broadcasts forecasts by radio nationwide with hundreds of dedicated transmitters in every state. Buy a decent weather band receiver to hear it.
@@joewoodchuck3824 Exactly, people should not need everyday reminders not to drive like Mario Andretti during winter weather conditions. It is your responsibility as the operator of a motor vehicle to maintain control at all times.
Anybody else start watching this and then immediately google snow tires for their car?
bought a set for my car when I drove for Uber/Lyft. People laughed and said I was wasting my money. They paid for themselves *three times over* the first day we had a snowstorm.
I'm watching and I live down south.😆
That Chrysler 300 Was One Of Those Sick AWD Ones!
What i liked about this video is that you clearly can see vaerity of skilled drivers and drivers with no idea what to do if they lose controll over the car.
Wow at 0:29 you know that guy has been trucking for a long time he handled that like a pro he's definitely been through it all in that truck
Fast&Furious 9: Missouri Drift
its allready in the past . in some part of F&F while burnout on ice to get better traction for top speed, that was hillarious :-D
Good one😸😹
Just another reason to live in San Diego. Nothing like this, I can't imagine driving in conditions like these with some of the oblivious drivers seen here
6:09 plow truck driver pumps his brakes and lowers his blade as he starts sliding. smart driver.
Yea. Not very smart since he has a salt spreader and salt, hmmmm, since I'm sliding on ice, should I make the roads safe....... er for the idiots
After the hair raising and the white knuckles: "hello, boss? I'm not coming in! Nope! turning around and going straight home.see u next week!" Lol
i love how there is a guy standing by his car where tons of cars been sliding
0:52 why is everybody still going those speeds?
It's safe to go at the speed limit if you use proper tires, but i don't think anyone in USA is using proper tires.
They need a cheeseburger NOW
Yeah wanted a beer
Missouri is in the middle of the United states, how do you get proper tires for such erratic weather?
Was anyone else wondering why the salt truck wasn’t salting even while sliding? Wtf
Cause the salt shoots behind the truck. Also needs a little time to penetrate the ice. So it would have done nothing for him.
That last one was a flex lol
The last scene was amazing!
I have to say the part that makes me laugh the most is the salt truck sliding but yet he hasn't thought about turning on the salt spreader so everybody else can gain traction
Most of these happened in St. Louis, Misery!
Some were in MissisSLIPpi
Man I have the same camera in your profile picture lol it’s the kodak easyshare c330
Deja vuuu!!! I have been this place before higher in the streett....🚗
In Massachusetts every year people think that if you have all season tires they can do 60mph and drive like its summer
60 kilometers pr hour isnt that fast, my guy.
@@anderstermansen130 He specified mph, so around 100kph
The joy of winter driving
Brakes locked, and so much oversteer in most of the clips. I thought the scariest was the stop sign and intersection at the bottom of the icy hill 😵💫
