Thank you for the video! It is very helpful. I was waiting for this flash and it looks great. But I must say that I am very disappointed with not having a standby mode.

No worries, glad it was useful. Camtraptions hope that the lack of standby mode will be advantageous to more of their customers to ensure that they are able to capture the shot every single time without fail - there are pros and cons to each but they have listened to what their users have fed back to them.

I use SB-28 and SB-80. I NEVER had a flash not firing on the first photo! And I NEVER heard of anyone having this issue! The SB-28 last me at a minimum 6-8 weeks in the field with normal rechargeable batteries. A flash with a few days of battery life is IMO for cameratraps just not good enough. The price is ok and the ONLY advantage I can see, is the overheating protection. I’d rather look for second hand SB-28.

Very Expensive option - especially if you buy into all the batteries, the separate cable and charger that would be required. For those of us who use Nikon SB28 flashes, we would also have to change all of the housings we may currently use. By using a second Camtraptions V3 PIR or by programming a single Camtraptions PIR to wake up the flash guns before triggering the camera solves the black first image problem and an external battery pack for other Nikon Flash guns solves the power issue.

There are very much a variety of options you can opt for when camera trapping, however Camtraptions are always striving to make their equipment as simple to use to make camera trap photography accessible to all. Ultimately the photographer can make their own judgement on what set up they would prefer to use but it's always a bonus to have a new and alternative option - but it's great to hear your thoughts, thank you!

Nikon SB28 still remains the best and cheapest option. Unfortunately they are going to disappear, sooner or later. Camtraptions must find a solution about European customers, if you don't live in UK, currently you are charged of lots of money because of customs charges...
