    It's the Coop Coup. Always intrigued by this wee thing. Would love to see your review of the quirky Paceman too if you track one down. Would also love you to do the MK1 Skoda Fabia vRS too. Loved the idea of a diesel hot hatch with the Audi A6 engine shoehorned into a Polo-sized car. Driving was a hoot. The power came in wallops that pinned you back and it pulled like a train, even uphill in 6th gear. Always wanted one of my own

    I had been driving the same Subaru Outback Sport Wagon for 22 years. It still runs, and it is my winter cars. Last April I was driving through town and saw an r58 sitting there. It has the body painted red. the roof black, with stripes (black) on the hood and hatch back, and stripes (red) on the roof. Drives great, handles very well. My 2006 Mini two door handles (on the rare occasion I drive it in poor weather) just as well as the Subaru. It does not do snow drifts well. Any the Coupe is a great car. It has umpf, handles very well, and apparently are rare. This car will be the last car I buy, I think. I am pushing 60 and if the Subaru is any indication?

    I totally get the love for the new MINI, i own an 05 plate cooper, best bloody car i have owned, within weeks of buying it i took a break in wales just to drive the things around some gorgeous mountain roads. I live next door to lincolnshire in norfolk and i simply love hooning my car around the b-roads, safely of course!
    The coupe is a stunner though, quite a cute car, i would probably go for one of these one day!

    Another excellent video. If I buy one, I know who to blame! :)
    I've owned 8, no maybe 9 Mini's since 2002 of various types. I think my favourite was the Supercharged S; facelift model where the upped the power and changed the final drive. It transformed the car. Driving that car was an 'event'. The R56 turbo charged S was more comfortable, quicker, a better car. But it lacked something. ANd the flat torque curve meant I was changing up at 4000rpm. So I bought an SD. This is my second favourite, and not only because it uses 30% less fuel. It may sound like a tractor but the engine actually has character. In third gear you can rock the car on the suspension at 3000rpm. Great for overtaking. Around town you can drive in 5th & 6th, on the flat, which gives better economy than the 1.6 diesel. In fact it gets better economy than the Cooper D in all driving conditions. I noticed it when I had a loan one, and got a dealer to admit to it to me. "We weren't expecting that" he said.
    It all went a bit wrong in 2015 with the new model. You can't see out of them. The A-Pillar is too thick, I kept nearly running down people as they walked in front of the car.
    Quick check of Auto trader. R58 SD 12000miles 16 plate 8750. Do I swap the R56 SD for it........

      Mum might complain. Technically it's her car. Although she's seems to have given up driving. Making the R56 my fun car!
      But I need to be sensible and replace my 2017 Clubman with something I can actually fit stuff into. Yet is fast, fun and economical.

    I’ve had my Mini Cooper 04 for 13 years and loved it …But always fancied a Mini Cooper coupe in a specific colour livery. Found one at a good price with low mileage,service history and spotless and bought it about 3 months ago ….I love it …but how Mini has advanced in the last 10 years …I love the. Drive of the Coupe and with the option of Sports mode is very shaw footed and it’s nice to get away from Runflats ….BUT ….it has lost something …it’s not as quick and instant as my 04 Cooper …it seems to have lost its raw edge and replaced with a little to much sophistication….but ,I still love it ..but ,I still love jumping into my old Mini Cooper and having a blat .

    That thing where the side windows drop down 1/2" to open and close the doors is common to BMWs... The on-going battle over cup holders is common to BMWs as well! In fact, Minis are a division of BMW, so it should be no surprise that they have a lot in common. Minis are truly mini-BMWs.

    Not a fan of this model at all. Have had the pleasure of riding in a Mini, goes like a go cart; like you stated, handles incredibly well.
    The problem with Mini is that when you start adding options, it tends to get very, very expensive when new.
    Personally, I would go for the Mini Cooper three door, it just seems so much more practical.

    • @furiousdriving
      @furiousdriving  4 года назад +2

      Thats pretty much what I said, its the more useful car for most people. Cynically its marketing genius from Mini that you can spend as much on options as the car itself, I think when they first came out most people spent about 50% again of the basic cars price on options

    • @frothe42
      @frothe42 4 года назад

      @@furiousdriving I always thought that this particular Mini looked like they put a baseball cap on it.
      Yes, it is very practical as a sports car, but the one thing that I dislike is a very claustrophobic feeling when inside a vehicle. It is why I dislike the now vintage Chrysler Crossfire; the coupe version is so claustrophobic that I dislike it, the convertible version is better because you can power down the soft top.
