For everyone who thinks the Hobbit movies are too long, I offer my own version....33,000ish seconds shorter than Peter Jackson's! Though I do like Peter Jackson's version too :)

While there really is no reason why the Elves arrest the Dwarves in the Jackson movies, there were actually several reasons in the book: Thorin and company had entered the Elven kingdom unannounced and uninvited; they raided the Elves' feast in the woods, three times; they had attracted the Spiders with all their racket; and after all that, they refused to even tell Thranduil what had brought them into the forest in the first place. Thranduil planned to hold them in jail until they answered his questions.
And Elves hate Dwarves.
BaconMan Yes, but that didn't really come into play in this scene in the novel. The Dwarves were actually much more rude to the Elves than the Elves were to them.
Raving Rando They both hate each other, the difference is that the Dwarves are not as mannered as the Elves. They are not as noble. They do not want everyone to love them. They want money.

Interestingly enough in book the charges for imprisonment were: trespassing into the Woodland Realm's territory without leave, harassing Elvenking's subjects and rousing the spiders (the only creatures the Elves hate and to which show no mercy) also the fact that Dwarves were rude, offended the king and refused to state their business when repeatedly and politely asked may also have something to do with it as well :) (in book to the contrary of what is presented in movie, Elvenking does not recognize Thorin, probably because, Thorin in book was said to be still a youngster, if not a child still while the sack of Erebor happened).

It's funny because this is an accurate representation of the book
Radagast was mentioned in the book but he didn’t appear at all. Azog the Defiler was also mentioned in the beginning of the book. Gandalf was telling Thorin on how Azog had killed his grandfather in the mines of Moria.
Could you remind me when Radagast was mentioned? I don't remember that part at all.

It's arguable, however, that Azog was in the book because Gandalf said how Thorin's grandfather was killed by Azog in the mines of Moria in the first chapter
I am meaning "actually present in the book" as opposed to "referred to." For instance, the entwives are referred to in LOTR, but they aren't actually "in" the book.

This is so overwhelmingly good. I genuinely got more of an authentic Tolkien vibe from this than whatever the hell those 3 movies were supposed to be.
Thank you! I have a deep love and appreciation for Tolkien's writings, and I'm glad that shone through even with my tongue in cheek retelling.
The Hobbit was published 77 years ago. The time period for SPOILERS has long passed.

That was amazing i was actully expecting perfectly cut audio from the movie which i would have enjoyed if made funny or serious. but the "I'm leaving" killed me and the rest great Job this made my day keep it up.
This is a work of ART! This fills my soul with more happiness than any of the 3 Hobbit movies and unlike those, I know this was made with passion and a really strong understanding and love of the source material.

Azog was in the book or they at least mention him in the book
no, it wad Bolg. They only said once about Azog in the book
Azog is mentioned, but he has been dead for many years prior to the events of the book. Dain killed him at the battle of Azanulbizar. Gandalf battling the Necromancer on the other hand, does take place at the same time, it's just not featured in the book as the sole focus is on Bilbo's journey.
