Yeah! We are YT famous! We are the boat, SV My Pleasure, that passed you in Elizabeth City by the bridge (6:41 in this video!) We are friends of SV Booger (they are watching our house in Cambridge for us!) We actually caught up with you guys and chatted via radio briefly weeks later in FL! So fun to relive parts of our trip through your videos! Dismal Swamp was sooo beautiful... and soooo cold! The night you anchored, we were at the visitor center and got up early to make the 1st lock! It was 27° at 6:30am!
We are on our way back north now and planning to skip Alligator River and go back via Pamlico Sound and Manteo - so good intel watching your videos too!
The sun may kiss the morning sky , the dew may kiss a butterfly , the frost may kiss my sailboat mast but this cold weather can kiss my a.s !
this is the best poem i have ever read!
I love you guys! I'm not a fan of the cold, and I don't like for you two to be cold. Get to the warmth! Safe travels. ❤
Beautiful video. Stay Safe & Fair Winds!! ☘
I love the idea of the puzzles...what a beautiful world we live in. Thank you for sharing✌️💜 this was supposed to be attached to the previous video🤦♀️🤷♀️
your friend dancing cracked me up...they all seem like a good time to spend time with.....happy sailing...warm weather and warm water coming soon 🤣😎
They are salts of the earth!
PAM-li-co
MAN-eo
Enjoying watching y'all sail down the coast/ICW!
Don't forget Al-be-marle
There's a small ( couple ) band called The Ghosts of Liberty who wrote a song called Roanoke River , very pleasing to listen to 😸
The dew is rising !
OMG, the intro is hilarious!!! As someone who sails in Pacific Northwest waters, I would recommend two things you need to stay warm: wool and waterproofing. Start with a thin, breathable base layer of wool (long johns) and then add layers until you feel cozy. Top it off with a waterproof layer, like your HH pants & ski coat. Same goes for your feet, hands, and head: wool + cozy + waterproof. Even if it's not raining, the waterproof layer keeps the wind out.
Haha, all beaus idea 😂 I think our best route for weather is not to go north ever again 🙃
What beautiful scenery 🤩. You both seem much happier. Great video
South we go!!!!
Nice to see Manteo. I skipped that when I went through due to draft. Will hope to stop in the future. Elizabeth city is nice and the towns when you head down alligator river south are nice as well.
Great to see your adventure. Love you two!!
Another great video. Be safe ya'll.
If you ever do it again, I’d recommend investing in some wool long underwear and buffs. It makes a huge difference going with wool rather than synthetics and cotton.
Full on Antarctic gear if we ever do it again 🥶
@@BeauAndBrandy😂
Pam-lick-oh sound 😂 Beaununciation is a thing! Probably the friendliest area to sailors on the ICW in my humble experience. Great episode!
😂🤣😅🤣 it’s a real thing for sure.
I think you need a pilot just for the places and what they were called. During my USN years there I managed to take my boat through the Albemarle sound many times and went to the Coinjock marina for fuel and lunch before heading back to Virginia Beach. Safe travels.
Been there done that. I live in Elizabeth City. You would have enjoyed a stop. There are places you can dock for free for overnight. Your within walking distance of downtown. There is a maritime musuem. Great seeing what you saw through your eyes. Thanks.
Love it! Sorry we won't have a shoal draft to run through the swamp. Thanks for showing us everything!
Hi from South Australia ❤❤
Dang it Beau! Your ill timed poop cost us good footage of an eagle!!
hahahahaha. tell him! lol.
😂
For a minute there I thought it was an episode of swamp people. You guys really have a way of capturing the beauty of your surroundings and never disappoint. Thanks again for sharing you're voyage.
Wow, thank you! 🍂🍁🍃⛵️
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Oona bear!🌈💔safe travels guys.
❤️🩹
Watching a YT channel where Sophie interviewed you, you indicated a bimini (hardtop?) was on your list improvements to your boat. I'm sure you may have looked at methods to construct, but I thought I would mention 3 cruisers YTubes how they did it DIY
1) Jessica and Ryan 2 yrs ago. They have a catamaran but their method was interesting. Attached 4'x8' thin luan sheets to their bimini poles/structure. Filled in the grain with resin. Coated surface with release chemical. Laid up fiberglas/ foam sheet/fiberglas sandwich. Took off structure and removed the luan. Then bolted hartop bimini to poles/ribs.
2) Sailing Spoomdrifters 2 yrs ago. They made their hardtop from 4'x8' sheets of PVC ($100 each at big box stores), edge- glued them together and attached to bimini poles and ribs. One complaint is it was slippery and would add nonskid.
3)Sailing GBU 2+ yrs ago- similar method to above but did not edge-glue sheets.
Thanks for the tips! We've seen a couple of these in our research.
@@BeauAndBrandy Another DIY hardtop build can be found in "thisratsailed" blogspot. Done for a catamaran by owner I know, The project starts in August 2015 and goes for several months as it was constructed under a 10'x10' popup tent. Involves creating a wooden frame using curved/shaped 2x4s and plywood, plus sanding, fairing, release agent, gelcoat, foam sheets, fiberglas and resin. There are many pics taken during construction. The final product is extremely strong, has a mainsail viewing window and 2 large 320w solar panels.
Your sailing thru my old stomping and fishing grounds
I just spent last week up in Elizabeth city for spring break to do some sailing with the kids. It was super cold and super windy but we were still able to make it work have a great time. It's a fun place to sail. I definitely recommend stopping and visiting the E-City docks or the MACU docks great people, super welcoming, and will take great care of you!
Another fabulous video!! We miss y'all, but so grateful we got to visit ❤️ Love that you got Chris doin' his hoe-down dance! 😂😂
Hehehe. So happy we got to see you TWICE!!😘
As always, great video! Love following you two!
Thanks so much! 😍
You guys are just north of my boat. I'm on the south end of Pamlico Sound on the Neuse River. I know you have already gone through the sound. I have only had this boat since September. Looking forward to exploring Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds this summer. My previous sailing has been inland in Alabama and the gulf coast.
we've heard you can get ocean sailing experience in the sound! but we had a great day.
enjoyed the video...even though I live in San Diego, my heart is still in NC where I was born and raised
It’s a BEAUTIFUL place I can see why!
I'm so happy you went through there also. I get to enjoy the videos. Love you guys.
I’m happy too for you to enjoy your sailing life and sharing with your family/friends and those of us that are enjoying your adventures ❤
On my trip south I got frost as far south as Georgia!
Awesome!
October 2020 I crossed the Albemarle Sound in 20 to 30 knot winds out of the Northeast. Every wave hitting the aft quarter soaked me. It was the worst 18 miles I ever sailed.
YIKES! That sounds like the stories we kept hearing, sounds like we got lucky.
One of my worst days ever on the sea was in the Albemarle sound!
We can believe it!
A pure gem of an episode.
Aww thank you so much!
Great sunset capture 🎉 Loved this video, you have a pleasant, calming demeaner 🤗💞
This stuff is where your variable draft boat shines
For sure!
I love Beau and Brandi Sailing!’ ❤❤❤ hugs 🤗 to everyone!
Hugs!!
oh and by the way, i enjoy all your videos
I'm with you guys. The farther south the better.
Heat seekers unite! 🔥
Im putting a diesel heater in my boat for that trip - pilot house boat so warmer .
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
How did the electric motor / battery capacity work out for you through the Swamp?
Thats a trip we've been planning for awhile now.
It worked out well. But bc the sun really didn’t hit the solar much, we had to run the generator to help out with the battery bank
@@BeauAndBrandy What kind of Generator do you guys run? I just got my pod drives and battery cells for my own custom build. Was thinking about having a Generator.
We're running twin 6kw pod drives. But our 33 prout Cat is really small. I don't expect to need to run it anywhere need even 6kw for both motors :D Been wondering what size Generator we're gonna need.
Beautiful morning
Great video as always 🥰
Man that is a hoodie, what is that? I like it, it's thick plus look at those mooring lines for strings. That is cool that looks toasty.
Great Sail :)
Sure was!
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
@@BeauAndBrandyyou guys also felt my pain with the cold lol Kole and Sere been telling you guys about 😂
That was really fun to watch! While I sit here waiting for the raccoon that got I’m my house last night to come out of the chimney and into the trap where he will be let loose in the woods behind me. My 15 year old boarder collie had an interesting night last night. No wonder he kept coming to my bedside!!
The way you're dressed I am looking for Icebergs !
We were too 🥶🗻
Beau reminds me of Noah from the Notebook for the intro 😂😂😂
We didn’t put it in the episode but there was a clip of me saying I felt like i was in a Nicholas sparks book sailing in to Roanoke
I can’t believe that Beau didn’t “ drop everything “ so you could film that eagle…
😂🤣 I mean he was dropping everything.
You ask me, I think I'd be making a B line back to the islands! 😊 But that's just me.
You and us both!
Can't believe you had frost on your dinghy. 🥶
Me either. Never again 🤣
What is the latest status on dismal swamp? Any depth below 5’ 6”? What areas of the channel to be careful… on a 5’ draft fin keel (bulb) boat. Thanks
You guys are dressed like Texans. lol They don't do well in cooler weather either. Its all good, love the channel
Haha. Close to Floridians cold threshold so that makes sense.
❤❤
Lol the 30°'s shit like it's a iceage
lol seriously felt like it. we are warm bloodied babies.
Awww man so no chance of y’all heading up to the arctic? I was looking forward to that sail 😂😂😂 jk hope you guys stay safe in them shallow waters
🤣😂 nope!
🦅next time🤣hey, he had to💩😳😂🤣
😂🤣
Nice one 😉👍 by the way, where has that furler gone ? 😢
Waiting for sails to be created for it 🙃
👍
Yea, we won’t be cold sailing either. Makes my bones hurt
seriously. give me heat anyday!
@@BeauAndBrandy yes! I agree
What was Saoirse’s draft? I forgot. I will take the dismal swamp soon for the first time on 5’ draft.
3.9. We've heard anytime in the summer, be armed to the teeth with bug spray.
😎
Becer seen you two with so many clothes on. Stay safe. Greg 🇬🇧
😂🤣. We can’t do this weather with our Floridian-Caribbean blood.
when I saw the thumbnail, didn't realize it was you two, and my first question was, who is that strange lady and what is she up to....LOL
lol.well then maybe we should change it
@beauandbrandy, because you are a fully electric vessel and I know you recently installed an electric windlass (what a convenience) how did you manage the batteries for house vs electric motor vs windlass? In a typical marine diesel engine boat you would raise@the engine dev up to 1500rpm while running the windlass? You don’t have a diesel therefore no alternator therefore no increased rpm procedure while using your windlass… how does that work? Thanks in advance PS: considering going all electric SV Pinch Me, Chesapeake Bay
Albemarle Sound. You misspelled it, just say'n.😁
The 30's? That's almost TShirt weather. Lol😂
lol. you know us, we are big ole babies when it comes to this cold.
Hi you guys just quick high five for your journey from Quebec Cananda and Beau why do you wear your hat backwards its not a baseball cap LOL
😂😜🤣
Two words: Electric. Blanket.
we HAD one and then it decided to stop working half way through the trip. brutal.
@@BeauAndBrandy that's just wrong. Can't wait until we can plug in our GPS coordinates and Amazon Drone delivery drops an electric blanket on your bow 😁
How is the bathroom holding up?
AMAZINGLY!! still the favorite locale on the boat 😂
Oh poor baby, did it get down into the 30's? Come up to New England or Michigan in February and we can go camping in a tent/snow shelter when it gets down to -15F. People around here wear shorts when it is in the 30's.
No thanks. I would get hypothermia for sure 😂
Yes!!! Such an EVIL BO!!! Moooohaaaaaa😜😜😜😜
🤣😂😂
You should be happy you had the cold otherwise you would of had the bugs and oh they are epic.
Seriously we were thinking it the whole trip. Can’t image doing that in the summer 🦟🦟
😀😀👍👍👍❤
Albemarle....
🥶🥶🩷
It's Man t o...
Weird found on a site that it’s pronounced man ee o. Hence the reason we said it that way. Oh well we tried 🙃
PAM LA CO
:)
pronounced "Man tee ow"
I swear I researched this and found a site that it was man-ee-o 🙃. Can’t win to lose with these names 😜
...planned pooping is essential?
Try not to knock over any bridges.
Too soon? 😬😜
The place names you are having trouble with are native American names and are over 400 years old...
Yup. They sure are tongue twisters.
You guys really butcher the names of the places you visit! 😲
I mean, geez Louise, can you blame us?! 😜 we sure can give anyone a run for their money with the cities in Florida.
