Here are two examples: Krantz's interpretation of the origin of Spider-man and all of the live-action versions and the animated Ultron origin and Avengers: Age of Ultron. How many young people know that it was Hank Pym who built the original Ultron versus seeing Tony Stark & Bruce Banner constructing it on the big screen? Probably the same amount of young fans who asked when they picked up recent Marvel issues "Who's the old white guy with the eye patch?"

@@shiningnight12 That is LITERALLY true! Marvel's publisher at the time wanted Stan to create a team of superheroes because DC created The Justice League of America, only HIS idea was to revive pre-existing heroes like Cap, The Original Human Torch & Toro and the Sub-Mariner. Basically do what Roy Thomas eventually did when he created "The Invaders." Instead of doing that, Stan just created a super-team from scratch about the same time as DC created Challengers of the Unknown, a non-super-powered team who wore uniforms and did dangerous heroic things because they were living on "borrowed time." The '60s were an interesting age for comics...

I tried to read the first few issues a while back and they were the dullest slog I think I've ever read from 60s Marvel. Even early FF and Spider-Man aren't nearly this insufferable. Every panel has so many goddamn words and yet it feels like barely anything happens, like damn Stan chill out.

I'm reading all of them and the Avengers are super boring but it's not even the worst book. Giant-Man & the Wasp and Iron Man are insufferable, and I've only read 2 issues of Daredevil but it doesn't look like it's going to be any better.

@@dajokahbaby1506 Update: I've read 6 issues of Daredevil and it's just the worst thing in the 60s. It's crazy how above the rest FF and Spider-Man are.

I had a few of the onmibus editions as a kid, Avengers, Wolverine etc. Up until this backissues I would have told you I'd read the first 30 or so issues of the avengers... I can not recall a single shred of a memory about the space phantom. I remember Zemo and Cap though... It's like my child self repressed and expelled the memories of the phantom

The way I like to view these stories Is that they didnt happen in continuity the same way they happen in the issues. These in my headcanon are stories that are TOLD in continuity. That's always been how I see it.

Since Amazing Fantasy #1000(which I think is made up number) is coming out. It would be awesome to do the original Lee and Ditko run on Spider-Man. That would be really fun and hysterical.

Spider-Man exists before they form, but he’s in the Villain of the week/month phase. The Avengers 11# is a fun comic for The Avengers and Spider-Man fans.
