Not a vet, but they might want to defer responsibility or not get sued if they treat someone's pet for the wrong diagnosis. Bad word of mouth can destroy a pet hospital's business far easier than a human hospital's business.
but she is calling in saying that she knows what flower it is and that the cat ate it... not saying that her cat might of eaten it and is at the time having weird symptoms cuz of it. its like going to a hospital I got scratched by a rusty nail with lead and I need to be treated for it, but then they ask to see the nail to make sure it has lead. and that they need me to pay $50 to get the nail tested. at that point they just want to pump money out of you. the longer the poison is ingested the long or greater the affects. so they get to have you for a longer time hence a bigger bill.
Vet student here, yeah makes sense that they did that to avoid suing, specially in places like the US that they love to sue for everything they can. Vets get a lot of shit from pet owners that know nothing of animals, so it's understandable they asked her to do that.
My mom got lilies as a Valentine’s Day gift, thankfully they were high up so my dog couldn’t get them and we didn’t have my bird until a week later, so the flowers were dead by then.
My dad is a big plant guy, one day my dad bought another plant, I don’t know anything about plants so I didn’t know what it was. Anyway my cat took a bite of the leaves on them and ended up getting high off it… it didn’t hurt him though, no harm done. He just had the zoomies for hours lol. So glad the plant wasn’t toxic
The best feeling is when you get a good sleeping position and your cats sleep in between the empty spaces one next to your face between your arms and the other between your legs, so cute and fluffy.
My dog is named sugar (kinda funny) but anyways we got her when me and my siblings were young and didn’t know how to take PROPER care of a dog, we would trap her make her jump from high places we would sometimes hurt her when we thought she needed to be disciplined.. but now we take much better care of her and she’s actually pretty attached to me! I just wish she didn’t have to go through all that when we were younger.
Sad pet story. We used to have a horse named Cosmo. He was the best boy ever, he was this really old grey and would never buck, he watched out for the other horses and even check up on us when we went over to him. Except one time my mom went in to feed the horses and when he started to cough and he fell over (Horses should almost never fall over, if they do it means they're probably ill.) my mom imminently called our vet. he came over and after a checkup told her that he had a heart attack, my mom told Cosmo that he can have one last trail ride. (which is taking your horse on a wilderness trail.) Roughly 2 days after the trail ride he had another heart attack. He sadly didn't survive this one and died.
2:53 Veterinarian here. They most likely had you call ASPCA Poison Control which is a team of veterinary toxicologists (poison specialists). The veterinarian can consult the toxicologists for ongoing treatment advice and prognosis once a case has been started, but poison control will charge whoever calls and starts a case. Many vets will have the owner call poison control to give a firsthand account of the ingestion so the toxicologists ask questions which will help identify the exact plant, toxic food, or chemical and how much had been ingested or ask questions that may or may not affect how that toxin is absorbed to the person who actually saw or owns the toxin. Veterinarians are broadly knowledgable about most common toxins, but there is a lot of nuance to toxicity and identifying toxic versus nontoxic substances that we prefer to have a specialist talk us through. The client is also paying the toxicologist directly instead of the clinic being charged and then charging the client. Hope that helps.
@@DrWh1teCat this makes the veterinarian feel more like a pharmacist and the poison control person like the doctor in that situation. which at that point she might as well of just gone to the poison control person to walk her through everything.
@@soulredixredix9024 Poison control doesn't have a place you can 'go to', and poison control is acting as a consultant to the veterinarian. The veterinarian is still running and intepreting diagnostics, administering treatments, and monitoring the response. What poison control tells us is how this poison interacts with this species' system, what to expect, and what medications could be helpful in detoxifying.
My dad uses ear plugs every night when he sleeps, the disposable kind. When my middle fur child, Milo, was a little younger (back when he was the youngest), he swallowed one of these and it got stuck in his intestines. He spent a night at the vet while they pumped him full of fluids and waited for it to pass, and if it didn't, they would have to surgically remove it! Luckily, he passed it that morning. A year after that, I moved out and lived in an apartment with my childhood bestie and Milo and his older sister, Sai. Apparently the apartment was too small, cause during a zoomie session, Milo ran straight into a wall and smashed his four upper teeth (between the canines) to the point when I had to take him to the vet to get them removed. Now he has a hard time picking up kibble :'D We are back in my parents' house now, and Sai and Milo have gotten a little brother, Oliver! He's very mischievous and full of energy, so we're keeping our eyes on this one!
Basically no one knows about how dangerous lilies are to cats, its really dangerous. Glad you mention it in this vid. My mom never beleived me when I panicked when she'd bring them in the house, we've always had cats. Its so upsetting. Luckily nothing bad has happened yet, i keep throwing the lilies out into the compost.
Another thing to be wary of is essential oils because several of them are harmful to pets. A few years ago there was a wolf spider infestation at my aunt's house. My aunt would sprinkle peppermint oil around the house to kill the spiders, but little did we know that it is harmful to cats as well. We started noticing that the cat was acting crazy and she was throwing up a lot- after awhile we figured out that the peppermint oils were making her sick.
I used to have plenty of cats and they were all so funny! My soulmate cat, my forever baby, passed away a month ago and it's been pretty hard, so here's some cute things he used to do: 1. Sleep on my head. His favorite spot to sleep on when he was little was on top of my head and he still did it as an old man. 2. Chew my hair. I couldn't go a day without having his little claws and teeth grabbing my hair when I'm trying to get dressed or when I was carrying him. 3. Lay across my computer. He would actually get mad at me if I tried to move him if I was working on a project or school work. 4. Squeak. He didn't meow; he had a tiny little "ehh" sound that he used more when he got older, so we called it his squeak. 5. His nicknames. Doesn't quite belong in this list, but I don't care. He had a bunch, but the most common ones were "Kitten", "Bread Loaf" or "Muffin", "Physco", "Mr. Evil Overlord", and "Precious" Everything he did was cute and precious, but those were his main attributes. I miss him so much still.
He’s in a faraway paradise where catnip and fish and his favorite food is everywhere and there are no dogs in sight and there are lots of comfy pillows and blankets and all the little toys they love and nice people who pet them and love them and play with them and lots of grass and fields to run around in.
My family has a cat named Zoe, and she got her eye scratched when she was about 6 months old. We had a vet appointment for her a couple days later anyway for a checkup, so Mum was like 'Eh we can just take her then' Turns out that if we had waited much longer, she could have actually gone BLIND. She had to have eye drops and other medical care that came up to about $300 dollars in New Zealand money and ever since then, she's been scared of other cats.
God I hate when parents do that. If your animal child needs to go the vet or you suspect they might, TAKE THEM! Don’t wait. Don’t put it off. Don’t think it’s a waste of money to take the chance just Incase. So many end up dying because people think nothing is wrong when there’s a slight difference.
A few years ago my sister brought Lily’s in from her boyfriend and my kitten nibbled and I only realized the next day that Lily’s were poisonous. After a week at the vet and $2,500, there was nothing we could do. Had to say goodbye. Now my family has 4 cats: 2 Siamese brothers, one old orange tabby, and a heckin chonker who is deaf.
My dad always told me how when he was a kid he used to give his dog whole Hershey’s kisses for months until the first vet trip and they were like “nonononono don’t do that chocolate is bad for dogs” Luckily the dog in question lived a very long and happy life, but I can only imagine how scared my dad must’ve been to learn that.
my uncle owned a beautiful german shepherd when he was in his 20's and gave it chocolate ice cream like,, every day. Every time he tells this story of how his dog died he makes it out to be its just "you live and you learn" kinda traumatic thing that just happens outta nowhere but like?? It was avoidable?? T_T He didn't take it to a vet either cause he's a boomer, I guess dogs didn't matter that much back then. idk
@@Stolasfan789 It's made for humans, filled with chemicals, you don't find any of the ingredients in dog food, sugur isn't very healthy, cocoa comes from the same plant as cocain, things that are unhealthy to humans are more unhealthy to dogs, many things that are fine for humans are toxic to dogs, common sense, etc.
One time my grandma brought over this bouquet of flowers and we didn't know what kind of flowers we were but we assumed they'd be fine. A couple days later she left and my cat started vomiting, shaking, not eating and even developed lockjaw. We took her to the vet, they gave her some needles and said it would be fine. On new years day was when she developed lockjaw and we took her too an emergency vet but the vet said she wouldn't survive and put her down. We're not sure if it was the flowers since they weren't really near the cats and the onset of the sickness was after my ma left, it could've also been she got something from outside since she's and indoor cat and she escaped a couple days earlier. Whatever it was I'm pretty mad that the vets told us nothing was wrong.
I recognized Hyacinth in the list and was like, "Oh, I think we bought one recently." We did. And also have some in the backyard. I looked up the rest, and we also have yew bushes, tulips, a couple daffodils, possibly an azalea/rhodendron bush, and common ivy. Ack ack ack. Yay my cats are smart and only seem to eat grass, but so idk what to do but thanks for the info XS
yeah we have tulips and I just realised this but my cats doesn't seem to eat those. At least the older of the two. Since the 2nd one before of how small she is way have decided to go out with her on a lid. So yeah and she doesn't hate it at all. She can be outside with people. There is just one time it started raining and had forgotten about the cats being outside. Now we are careful to verify if it is going to rain. The problem in Quebec can sometimes be unpredictable. The weather forecast might have had announced that it would be a sunny day but ends up raining or it starts pouring, stops, starts again. So yeah.
you might wanna get rid of the yew. its really really toxic to cats if they eat the seeds. but i guess if ur cat stays away from them it should be fine.
I've got a cat named Luna. My dads friend found her in a ditch outside their house and we adopted her. She's a runt (which we think is why her old owners abandoned her) and we don't know what breed she is but I think she's part Maine Coon because she's a long fluff ball. Her fur is black with some strands of orange fur and I named her Luna because I love that name, there's a black cat on Sailor Moon named Luna (like I said my cat's black) and Luna means "moon". She loves to attack hair and will sometimes snuggle up to me when I'm sleeping and just starts purring. I love my bratty, cuddly fluff ball.
I was petting my cat while watching this video and I looked up to notice the Lilies we’d been gifted recently with a few bites in the leaves. It was very minimal and that cat is fine, but thanks for reminding me to make those out of the house.
TLDR: you have to call an expert because way to many people think their pet is dying because it ate some random plant they had on the house when in reality, it's harmless Source: i'm a veterinarian.
I really felt that opening statement! We got my turtle, Joe, at the end of 2019 and it's been a joy and absolutely pain to keep her. Every few months we have to completely drain her tank and clean everything, including her basking rock and substrate, and it's a 55 wide gallon tank so it's a *process*. Then, last year, she started developing eggs - all infertile, known as slugs - and we found this out the day before we were supposed to leave the state for a weekend trip! Tip for any possible turtle or reptile owners. DO YOUR RESEARCH, PLEASE. Just like shgurr said, avoid simple mistakes! Search how big the animal gets, what special care they need and diet! The reason we got Joe in the first place is because she grew too big and the original owners didn't want her anymore. Many turtles and snakes get much bigger than you'd expect! Please please please do your research! Side note, I'm fairly certain she's a cat in disguise. She sleeps in a warm spot all day, only pays attention to me if she wants food, hisses if I pick her up and I've heard her chirp. That's just a cat lol
Yeah, my little Brother EmperorSheep wanted a Turtle though he couldn't get one since as we found out, they are actually illegal in North Carolina, for some reason. Also, my bird is also a delightful pain to take care of, she's a Young Quaker Parrot called Tepe, short for Tepeyollto... I remember how to spell the first two parts, Tepe and yoll, though I don't remember the rest. And like I mean, it is either the Aztec or Mayan God of Caves, Animals. While I could list a whole bunch of stuff that she does, from starting out her relationships by biting and being aggressive towards anyone she doesn't know which started a whole thing with Shep, who doesn't want to have anything to do with her, to her throwing out her own treats to eat them later while they are on the floor. She's a messy bird though she does have a sweet heart.
this isnt related to the video but oh my god. i just witnessed in real time your channel being hacked and streaming nft stuff to slowly coming back to normalcy (videos returning, the stream going down, your name changing back to shgurr) and i think that's wack as hell in like, a good way. im sorry to have seen your channel get hacked!!
@@shgurr oh my god, im so sorry :( i cant even imagine what it must be like to have your channel taken from you like that! i hope you're alright otherwise!
So you no longer live with Meghan? Hope everything's fine between the two of you. I guess people move on sometimes. Your cats look as lively and cute as ever. Wish them all the best!
Idk, people move out of shared apartments all the time. Mostly for positive reasons. Like a cheaper option, proximity to work or anything regarding being closer to the people they love. It’s not that usual for it to be due to personal problems, it can happen, but it’s not as common as people believe.

I've had a lot of cats over the years and I think one of my favorite stories is how different cats got their names. Example is that a lot of our cats are black, grey, and white but one time one of them managed to have orange tabbies in her litter. So I started calling them the "tots" cause seeing them bundled together reminded me of tater tots. Things happened and only one remained just simply named Tot. Some time later another orange tabby kitten appeared who eventually adopted us and became Tate. Tate or Tot, they were both adorable and friendly. ♥️
I had a kitty named Billy, he used to purr me when I was feeling down or dying from very painful periods, he made me fall in love with the idea of having more cats lmao
A general rule I've learned is; " If a kitten doesn't know how to use the litter box, it's not old enough for a new home " Now difference is, if they just don't know how to use the specific litter box you have etc etc.. Anyway; Your cat's are super adorable and I love them both!!
I don't own cats, but i own an axolotl. I had my fishtank by my bed the first few months i had him, and when i would wake up from a nightmare, or just to pee, i'd see him staring dead into my eyes whilst i slept. It is really funny, since they have little to no vision whatsoever, and mine is pretty silly and stupid. I used to have a white rock thing with plastic multi color greenery on it. (it's at petsmart lol), and i woke up one morning and wondered where my fishy friend went. Axolotls can jump if they're fast enough with a good room. So i went into PANIC mode, and i searched everywhere around the tank. No fish. So i started searching in the tank. Btw he was only like.. 2 inches when i got him. So i was basically tearing apart his home, searching for him. I lifted up the rock, and saw him lying there. It was one of the most wholesome yet terrifying moments in my life. Later that day (when i was at school) my mom took an amazing photo of my axolotl coming out of the white rock. Around this time was the time i figured out he was special. You ask why? Cause he has 3 gills on one side, and 4 on the other. My mom asked the dealer we bought him from, and they said it must've been a birth defect. No wonder he's got no brain cells :/ Another time he was in MORTAL DANGER was when he was like.. 6 1/2 inches or so.. I gave him a dome to make his house (the dome was in the water don't worry lol) and one morning i woke up to him having wedged his head into one of the holes (not the entrance hole, but there were 2 other SMALLER holes so yeah) and i PANICKED. I dunked my hands in the water to help him, and just before i got to him, he wiggled out. We did a check up on him, sadly his gills wont be fluffy, but he would live. if you wanna buy an axolotl, please do your research, and make sure you have the right tank size, diet, and water. I cannot stress the water part enough. If you do not pay attention to the type of water you use, it can really hurt them! If you use tap water, DONT! Tap water has too much chlorine for them to handle, basically killing them in 1-2 days. If you're gonna get an axolotl, i would recommend buying spring water, since it has the right 7.6 water ph balance, and it has less chlorine than any other brand. Also, please pay attention to them. THEY NEED LOVE!! if you wanna know, my axolotl is around 8 inches now :D also, if you buy an axolotl you are saving one! They are an endangered species in mexico! Please help spread awareness!! Thank you for reading my story and tips :D
So glad you’re feeling better! I do have one cat story that might have you blow air out of your nose. My cat liked to play favorites, and it was no secret that I was her favorite, like everyone knew just by visiting me. Every time my family and I would come home, she would be at my heels just begging for attention, ignoring everyone else. One day, I was sitting on the couch with my younger brother, just chatting and vibing, till my cat started walking up to us like she owned the place (it’s what she did), and she looks at me happily like: “𝓜𝓮𝓸𝔀 ☺️😍🥰😘 xoxoxoxo
Once we had found a mouse in my old house. My mom had set out sticky traps and she also bought a bag of poison. One night, by accident, she had left it at the bottom of our pantry which our dogs knew how to get onto. They did, and my fat dog (she got hip problems because she was so fat because she would steal my other dogs food) got into the mouse poison and ate *all* of it. Of course the greedy dog kept it all to herself, which I can't decide is a good thing or a bad thing, and then when my mom found the empty bag in the morning, she disscovered that Charlie (
This artstyle is very cute. One cat story I have is that our oldest cat, Possum, has to drag his water dish to the middle of the floor before he drinks. I've almost hurt myself several times tripping on it.
The flower is called a “lily” and it’s very poisonous, I use to have a lot of cats when I was younger and 3 of them died from it. After that we haven’t had many flowers in our house, very sad.
this happened years ago. Me and my family had just welcomed a black lab husky mix puppy, who my parents named Basil, into our family. It was late at night when I was awoken from my sleep, I was a small child, to Basil licking my face. I leave my room and turns out he did it to my little sister too. That was his first night home and something I will never forget about that dog. I do have other pet stories such I thought my older sister's cat was missing but when I opened my bedroom there he was. Or the time I was walking home from the bus stop and Zephyr, my older sister's cat, came walking up to me which I found cute cause well it's a pet that you live with walking to you to welcome you home. Now this one story is heartbreaking. You see me and my siblings had each owned a pet. My older brother had Wilbur a border collie mix, we got Basil after Wilbur passed away, my older sister had a cat named Zephyr, I myself owned a cat named Snare, and my little sister still has her cat Tricks. This story happened a few years ago around when Basil, Snare, and Zephyr were alive. Me and my little sister were talking with our mom in her computer room when our dad askes us have we've seen Tricks. Tricks at the time was still small like might still be a kitten. So me and my little sister start searching. I see the door to closet beside the bathroom opened. So I turn the flashlight on my phone on, open the door and start scanning. I look down and scream out to my sister that I found her. Tricks was stuck under some stuff we kept in there and we had no idea just how long she had been trapped but long enough to were her meow was weak. My little sister comes running and just starts crying, which I understand cause if it had been Snare I would be crying as well, I help her get Tricks out, and she takes Tricks to were we keep the water bowl and food bowl for the cats and she wouldn't eat or drink if my little sister wasn't there. Things could have ended badly that day if our dad didn't ask us where was Tricks. After that we made sure that door was always shut! A few years later we needed up remodeling the bathroom, taking down the wall between the bathroom closet and the bathroom.
Recently one of my cats passed away of old age. Her name was Pickles and she lived to be almost 17, and she was a very happy cat. She had a kitten like personality, even as she got older, and loved to cuddle with me and my family. I remember after I got my tonsils and adenoids removed I was in a lot of pain for a week or so and she would always lay on my chest and purr, like she was trying to heal me. Another memory I have of her was last year when I was remote learning. I had a candle lit near where I was doing my school work (you can probably see where I'm going with this) and she wanted to be pet right then and there, but she had her tail over the flame and it started smoking. I quickly realized what was happened and died out her tail. She's been a big part of my life since the beginning, I was around one or so when we got her and I remember dressing her up in pink dresses from build a bear and she would be okay with it lol. We got closer over quarantine/the pandemic so it was really hard to see her go. I miss her still do this day. Miss you Pickles
My family has 4 cats right now - 2 are kittens and 2 are adult cats but I specifically wanna focus on 2 of them . Mocha and Maggie . Mocha is an all black cat who is super judgemental and she pretends to hate attention but just when you think she'll bite you , you can hear her purr the slightest bit and it's so cute . She hated the new kittens when they showed up but now she tolerates them - Maggie is one of the two kittens and is a Siamese / Russian blue mix and she is the most clingy kitten ever . She also has kidney issues caused by eating something but luckily she's doing good now
Hey sugar your videos are getting me through much my birthday is in 30 days and I’m excited to keep posting videos I’m glad your mental health is better and keep doing what you love
Ah, the best part of any pet owner's life, when you find out your beloved just ingested copious amounts of poison. For me it was when I was watching over my sister's dog while she was away. I have a golden retriever named Reese, she has a beagle named Oliver and our dogs are basically brothers. However, while Reese is sweet and joyful (akin to Thor or Nephi) Oliver is mischievous and tricky (akin to Loki or Laman and Lemuel). Oliver would get into trouble all the time and being a massive glutton meant that where there was food there was trouble. One night I decided to get up and get a snack, as I passed the living room I noticed Reese and Oliver chilling on the carpet, Oliver chewing on something. Remembering that I had forgotten to close the pantry I figured he must have gotten into some food, so I went to take it from him. As I walked over I noticed a lot of green stuff scattered across the carpet, and then I saw what was in his mouth, it was not food but the container of "pet-proof" rat poison that I had placed in the back of the pantry. Luckily Oliver doesn't like to share so I dismissed Reese to his room after seeing that he did not partake of the deadly poison. Being too late at night for any vets to be open I instead give my parents a call and with their help whip up a dish that would induce vomiting. I let him out and let him do his thing, brought him back inside afterward. When morning came I took him to the vet and long story short he's fine. (Sorry for the big wall of text I'm more of a passive observer of comments and rarely write my own, but there's my fun pet story)
My family has 2 cats, my cat Chickpea, and Milo who is my older sisters. (and also an army of dogs) Milo and Chickpea are complete opposites, Milo is the friendliest and chunkiest boi ever, while Chickpea normally sticks to herself. They always sleep during the day and then at 3 am get the zoomies and run around the entire house playing chase, never fails one of them jumps on me and wakes me up. As I said Chickpea normally sticks to herself but she seems to be more of "I don't like you, hey where did you go? Come back and pet me" kind of cat. If I leave the room without calling her name she comes looking for me, and if the door is closed she scratches at it until it is opened. Sometimes she even opens the door herself, I don't know how. She also likes to hide under our table from Milo since she is skinny enough to fit through the boxes under it. I'm actually one of the only ones in the family who can tell the difference between them without picking them up. Every time my mom looks at one she calls me into the room to tell her which cat she is looking at. Another thing about Chickpea, she always tries to steal milk. If someone has milk leftover from cereal or whatever, they can't look away or else the little gremlin gets it. My family always gets both normal milk and almond milk (since I can't have normal milk 😅) and Chickpea actually knows when someone opens the almond milk carton. I know this is alot but I hope whoever read all this found it fun to learn about the little fluffballs. I don't have much time...Chickpea has hacked into the universal system and is controlling everything as we speak. She wants cats to be the supreme overlords in the 'new world'. Go tell everyone you know before it's to late. The cats are planning an uprising and they will stop at nothing until they get everything they want. (Obviously that last part is fake...or is it?)
3:09 another important one for that list is Eucalyptus. Especially if you're the type to diffuse oil or use incense. It smells really nice, but is very toxic for a lot of animals (I very narrowly avoided making that mistake with my bird)
They’re toxic to all animals besides koalas. All thanks to their strong digestive system, and the disturbing fact that the baby koalas eat… well they eat feces, and there’s your disturbing nature fact for today.
As someone who is certified in agriculture, primarily plant identification it's likely because some plants are easily mistaken for others as they can look incredibly similar with very minor differences kind of like milk snakes and coral snakes, but plants.
Was a vet assistant,, they likely wanted to check and be 100% certain based on hard science and not just word of mouth, since giving treatment to an animal that doesn’t need it can be lethal in and of itself. It’s not just word of mouth, but best for the cat’s safety on that off chance the owner was mistaken ^^
When I first got my cat Halo, she was 8 weeks old and a very timid and small kitten, and since we picked her up off the streets (mom was probably eaten by neighborhood dogs so she was a bit malnourished) she was quite anxious and wary of us. Her little safe space was the liter box and so she’d stay there and even sleep there as a little ball of fluff (she’s a longhaired baby). She’ll be 4 soon and she’s nice, healthy, and spoiled beyond belief.
As an owner with alot of cats (11) while living at a family owned restuaraunt, boy do I have stories We had a play area for kids at our old location (still do at the new one) and the cats liked to hang out there, so one day a Swedish couple with a few kids comes to the table next to the play area and the kids go to play, Naturally I just got back from school so I'm in my room. Next thing I know my dad bursts into the room and says 'SOME KIDS JUST THREW LUCKY ON THE GROUND' Lucky is one of the cats and was around 4-6 at the time (she's 8 now) . I burst out of my room and went full Karen mode at the parents telling they should supervise their kids, of course it wasn't their fault but I am very sensitive about my cats safety. Ever since that day, I have been very cautious of the cats safety around kids at the restuaraunt.
The fact that that cat jumps from the banister to the table, reminds me of my own cat where she can somehow fit through the beams hold the rail of my staircase?! And she always jumps from there to the carpet in front of my couch, instead of just walking down the stairs to the kitchen to get her food, sometimes I'm sitting on the couch, and she just bounces off of my head. It's the funniest thing ever
Same thing happened to my sister. Had our elder half brother not warned her about the plant she got for Christmas, she could of moved it in harms way and our ABSOLUTLY ADORABLE CAT would of been... less than happy.
This video actually saved my cat. I was gifted Lillies on my birthday this year and because I remembered this video I knew they were toxic to cats. I thanked the person, took a photo of the bouquet (because they really are gorgeous flowers and I love them) and then threw them away. Thank goodness.
First off, glad you're feeling better! Second, I'm really glad that Snake was okay after all that mess. My GF and I love kitties so we're both celebrating her recovery! Third, loving the new art style!
Hi shugr, I just wanted to say that your who knows video really inspired me, I was really going through some bad stuff and I really felt like I wasn't gonna make it through, then I watched your video and I know that you've also been through even harder stuff, but even so you were able to put the effort to make something as beautiful as that animation and it just made me feel like I too could be strong enough, right now I'm doing better and I hope that soon I can say I'm doing good, but what I wanted to say was Thank you, for making me feel strong when I needed it Sorry for being so dramatic
You're not dramatic! Don't let anyone ever say that. I'm glad they helped you! Hopefully I can put those videos back up one day like the others ❤ there will always be people out there that love you :3
I also got 2 cats and though I love them, they are also very annoying. My oldest one, Blaze, and my kitten, Shohei, they wake me up at 3 in the morning to go in my room and all they do is go on my bed to play around and then go camp at my door and then bug me to let them out but they are both really sweet cats and really cute.
Oh god, that flower incident could have ended so tragically. I'm SO glad that Snake only decided to eat the flower right when you were looking at her. Even though the vet bill was likely horrible, I'm so relieved and glad that you were able to get her help and she recovered. Crisis averted. Phew. I'm also happy you decided to get Oreo, cats really do better with at least one other cat around if they're open to other cats. It can be so cute seeing how they end up interacting with each other.
I got a domestic long hair mix boy cat named Twin, absolute sweet boy. He's got his moments and recently been working on floor repairs in our bathroom. We have a relatively small 2 story house with one bathroom, narrow hallways. All our rooms are crammed with stuff and I have no where to put his litterbox BUT the laundry room. Side note: Our Laundry Room is located inside our bathroom. You got the main hallway downstairs that goes from the main area kitchen/living room and front door the hallway goes to my mother's room, the pantry and the bathroom. So from within the bathroom there is also the laundry room. Well we got a couple of missing parts of the floor right now and underneath is where we have our plumbing pipes (We have no basement). So my cat has been going in and out of these holes for whatever reason. He can be a massive goof and is currently VERY food and Catnip motivated. I have debated on teaching him tricks but at 2 years old, I think he's passed that point. He's a very sweet cat and despite the fact he is gone outside the house for 12-20 hours a day (depends on when we let him out.). He will come back and then be a lazy, cuddly boy.
It never fails. Pets always, always, ALWAYS will do something stupid to put themselves in danger right as the vet is closing. I'm glad that your baby girl turned out okay, though.
Oh lol I had a similar scare with my philodendron. It was hanging over my desk and grew long enough for my cat to get. And I freaked out when I woke up to him eating a leaf on my floor. He was fine tho thankfully.
I have a cat called katniss and the first day we got her we let her roam the house freely. The next morning we go downstairs to see the couch cushions torn, sh't in the plant pots and a cake we had on the counter (covered up) lying upside down on the ground. She stays in my room during the night now
Hey Shgurr, it's fantastic to see your videos again, I'm happy that your cats are doing well. I have a pet cat, he's a 12 year old Ragdoll named Percy. 😊 😊
I'm no vet, but based on just how industries that deal with customers work, I assume the flower-identified guy you had to call is there because they got sick of "Yes, I really did look it up, yes I have the actual flower, yes I am 100% positive this is incredibly deadly and I need immediate medical attention for my cat" followed by a visit where they had to say "actually this is just a leaf" because the customer had no idea what they were talking about. Customers are notoriously one of the dumbest groups of people around, and in a position where a false call can potentially delay a real call for an animal that actually needs immediate help, it's probably better to be safe than sorry
@@julien4305 In another reply, a veterinarian weighed in and said typically it's ASPCA Poison Control and they're able to not just help identify the plant, but let the veterinarian know just how it affects the particular type of animal and what the best treatment plan is for the particular plant in question. So, it's more like an ER doctor consulting a specialist because you ODed on something obscure.
These two remind me of my own Maine Coons, I have a 2 year old Cream Silver boi named Tanner and a 1 year old red boi named Yoongi, they're the best of buds and they care for each other very much. Besides the loud play fighting where I can hear them rolling around.
One time my cat started acting really reclusive he was hiding in the basement crawlspace, and he would squeak like he was hurt if you tried to pick him up and wasn't really eating. I was pretty worried about him, so we took him to the vet. I was worried he had broken a bone or something, the vets give him an X-ray and turns out he was just constipated.
One of my cats, Blaze, will jump from the floor, onto a counter, then onto a higher ledge, then on top of a bookshelf and just sleep for hours. He's like a little parkour kitty.
I’m glad that you’re back! Honestly, for me, it’s been a while since I’ve been with my pets bj (cat), Bernard (dog), and Bianca (dog). And I miss them so much since they all passed away many years ago. I don’t know, they’re so integral to the family and when they passed away, things are just not the same. So, thank you for sharing this story, speaking of cats, maybe you should check out manga called “Chi’s Sweet Home” and cartoon called “Swat Kats”, I’d totally recommend. :)
@@ash_key2628 I appreciate it, thank you. You know, people don’t realize that having a pet with you is like a family member as a son/daughter or brother/sister. Once they’re gone, you feel a sense of void, you know. So wonderful, but their lives ends too short.
3:34 my aunts cat she had two name maisy and mango. Mango passed away at age 16, and Maisy didnt know. Maisy was deaf and would go around the house meowing for him for 6 weeks 😭😭😭
One time, my two cats, both scottish fold's, were play fighting. One of them was an top of ottoman, and the other was under it, upside down, moving by pulling herself with her claws. They would take swipes at each other before one would retreat. after a while, the cat under the ottoman came out, laid belly up, head facing the ottoman, and when the cat on top poked his head out, she grabbed his head and started kicking him over and over. We had to stop her because she clearly was trying to kill him with the power of those kicks.
There was once a bird stuck on my back padio and it wouldn’t leave when we opened the door, so me and my mom thought it would be a good ide to scare it out with my cat. So I brought my cat down stairs and as soon as I got close the bird played dead, me and my mom legitimately thought we killed it but as soon as I went to pick it up it flew out the door. It was honestly the funniest thing
The clip when Oreo jumped onto the table reminded me of this one time I had a kitten named Socks, Since she was always outside in my old rabbit hutch she didn't know what was dangerous yet. If anyone is wondering, I did put a fence around the hutch so the kittens couldn't get out. But after about a month of Socks being in the house, she discovered the upstairs. I had a rail upstairs (Which I forgot about) but when she got by it, She jumped off of it and landed on the ceiling fan in my kitchen. Mischief.
My cat fell asleep with his face smashed into a pillow xD He loves to sleep in our bean bag chair, and also boxes His name is Romeo, and he LOVES people. One time he actively climbed over my legs to reach my hand so he could rub his face on it xD

The first half of this video reminds me of a situation when I was still relatively new to owning cats. We had a big issue with fleas and my cats would scratch and bite all the time, so we tried some drops, but they weren't good enough, so my mom got a different type that seemed to be more effective. It was, however one day one of our cats licked the thing off of her back at some point, and nowadays I know it can cause side effects or bad reactions, but I never knew they could be THAT bad. So one day I woke up in the morning, and I noticed one of my cats behaving really weird. She was very irritable, she'd growl and just hide from anyone. She's a kind of shy scaredy cat in general, but that was even way out of character for her. After a moment I noticed she'd start trembling out of the sudden, and I was like wtf is even happening, I shouted to my mom to help put the cat into the pet carrier, and we went to the vet ASAP. Thankfully they quickly treated the poison, and kept her for check ups for the rest of the day, but when we got her back on the next day, everything was just fine. Still, even if nothing bad happened in the end, waking up to your cat doing this scared the crap out of me
My terrifying pet story: We were visiting my grandma the thanksgiving before she moved. In order to clean out the mice and rodents around, they had put RAT POISON ALL AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE GARAGE. AND DIDN’T TELL US! Of course, my dog goes sniffing around, and sees her eat something. She runs to see, and guess what? SHE ATE THE POISON! My sister ran to get my dad, who then scooped her up and got my mom and took my dog to the vet. It was 4:45-ish so it was getting dark. My grandparents house is in the middle of nowhere, so the nearest vet was an hour away. Of course, traffic made it 2.5 hours. They got the vet in time, did whatever they needed to, and sent my parents on their way. On the way back, their car broke down, so they didn’t get home until like 2 in the morning💀
Omg, I was planning from last year that I wanted a maine coon soon. I watched sooo many cute videos on taking care of maine coons. They are just too adorable!!!
Once i caught my sister giving my cat jinx a bath in the sink, somehow she didn't get scratched, and then another time my dog daisy ate a stick of butter that was on the counter unattended. 😂
0:37 _OH GODS NOOOOOOOO!!!_ *Lilys kill kitties* as the saying goes (Done horticulture work in the past, not a stranger to how poisoness they are, im greatful your cat is alright after that) On a side note that motion sensor spray can is AMAZING and im totally going to take that into consideration
Not a vet, but they might want to defer responsibility or not get sued if they treat someone's pet for the wrong diagnosis. Bad word of mouth can destroy a pet hospital's business far easier than a human hospital's business.
Nice comment:0
That's what waivers are for though. If we can do it for humans why not cats
I was just about to say the same thing. I will say though, that them charging $50 is outrageous.
but she is calling in saying that she knows what flower it is and that the cat ate it... not saying that her cat might of eaten it and is at the time having weird symptoms cuz of it. its like going to a hospital I got scratched by a rusty nail with lead and I need to be treated for it, but then they ask to see the nail to make sure it has lead. and that they need me to pay $50 to get the nail tested. at that point they just want to pump money out of you. the longer the poison is ingested the long or greater the affects. so they get to have you for a longer time hence a bigger bill.
Vet student here, yeah makes sense that they did that to avoid suing, specially in places like the US that they love to sue for everything they can.
Vets get a lot of shit from pet owners that know nothing of animals, so it's understandable they asked her to do that.
The second I saw the shadow of the flower I was like "NO, LILIES NO." They are mega toxic to pets.

Feels exploitative to force an owner to confirm with a toxicologist something already confirmed. And forced to pay an extra $50,
@@JonathonWilder The toxicologist can then advise the veterinarian in treating the owner's pet for the toxicity to ensure the best quality care.
@@DrWh1teCat Fair enough, I can still understand the frustration in the above video though. Thank you
@@DrWh1teCat this makes the veterinarian feel more like a pharmacist and the poison control person like the doctor in that situation. which at that point she might as well of just gone to the poison control person to walk her through everything.

Now he has a hard time picking up kibble :'D
We are back in my parents' house now, and Sai and Milo have gotten a little brother, Oliver! He's very mischievous and full of energy, so we're keeping our eyes on this one!

My soulmate cat, my forever baby, passed away a month ago and it's been pretty hard, so here's some cute things he used to do:
Evil Overlord", and "Precious"
Everything he did was cute and precious, but those were his main attributes.

Scared the living shit out of me getting a notif from an nft account
I've had a lot of cats over the years and I think one of my favorite stories is how different cats got their names. Example is that a lot of our cats are black, grey, and white but one time one of them managed to have orange tabbies in her litter. So I started calling them the "tots" cause seeing them bundled together reminded me of tater tots. Things happened and only one remained just simply named Tot. Some time later another orange tabby kitten appeared who eventually adopted us and became Tate. Tate or Tot, they were both adorable and friendly. ♥️
The sequel we wanted, deserved and needed
We definitely wanted this
@warrior no
I had a kitty named Billy, he used to purr me when I was feeling down or dying from very painful periods, he made me fall in love with the idea of having more cats lmao
Ooo the new style is cool!!
Thanksss😊
I agree!
A general rule I've learned is; " If a kitten doesn't know how to use the litter box, it's not old enough for a new home "
Now difference is, if they just don't know how to use the specific litter box you have etc etc..
No wonder he's got no brain cells :/
Another time he was in MORTAL DANGER was when he was like..
THEY NEED LOVE!!
if you wanna know, my axolotl is around 8 inches now :D
also, if you buy an axolotl you are saving one!

I've almost hurt myself several times tripping on it.

this happened years ago.
I have a pet bearded dragon.
Although not annoying to take care of, she perfers being lazy but can be excited and run around the enclosure.
She hated the new kittens when they showed up but now she tolerates them -
Maggie is one of the two kittens and is a Siamese / Russian blue mix and she is the most clingy kitten ever . She also has kidney issues caused by eating something but luckily she's doing good now
Hey sugar your videos are getting me through much my birthday is in 30 days and I’m excited to keep posting videos I’m glad your mental health is better and keep doing what you love
Oh wow well good thing she’s back

Thats ok i am glad that your dogs live a happy life once again
Snake is genuinely the cutest cat I've ever seen. I've been desperate for more cute cat stories/videos, and I couldn't ask for anything more!

Наконец-то ты вернулась, я так рад! Помню, когда у меня были не самые лучшие времена, твои ролики помогли справиться с этим.

As an owner with alot of cats (11) while living at a family owned restuaraunt, boy do I have stories
We had a play area for kids at our old location (still do at the new one) and the cats liked to hang out there, so one day a Swedish couple with a few kids comes to the table next to the play area and the kids go to play, Naturally I just got back from school so I'm in my room.
Cute kitties! I own 4 and that tip about the motion sensor spray can is a BIG help

Now that Ghost moved away, snake has to play the older sibling role lol!
Лучшая аниматорша на западном ютубе. Я очень рада, что Шугур вернулась. В России очень переживали за тебя.
This is the second time today on RUclips that I’ve heard about cats potentially eating lilies.
Yeah, it sucks that people who have no knowledge are as convinced as those with knowledge that they're right
that fair but 50 dollars for a phone call seems like alot though
@@julien4305 In another reply, a veterinarian weighed in and said typically it's ASPCA Poison Control and they're able to not just help identify the plant, but let the veterinarian know just how it affects the particular type of animal and what the best treatment plan is for the particular plant in question. So, it's more like an ER doctor consulting a specialist because you ODed on something obscure.
I'm glad you're doing ok Suggar!

I was not expecting of “cats 2: Electric boogaloo” to be a cat wasting a poisonous flower nearly killing them.
One of my cats, Blaze, will jump from the floor, onto a counter, then onto a higher ledge, then on top of a bookshelf and just sleep for hours. He's like a little parkour kitty.

2:22 yea check for emergency vets when you get a cat.
Mischief.
My cat fell asleep with his face smashed into a pillow xD

Still, even if nothing bad happened in the end, waking up to your cat doing this scared the crap out of me
Glad to have you back
Great work
